i really appreciate the different tones enjin adopts while guiding the cleaners. we saw it in the earlier chapters when rudo hit amo out of anger. enjin realized rudo already knew where he went wrong, and only chose to calmly tell him that there will always be room for conscious growth. the moment called for compassion and that is what enjin showed.

we see it again in how he deals with zanka after his loss to hyo. zanka was trying desperately to be someone he wasn’t, and all enjin had to do to get him out of that hole was tell him he wasn’t thinking straight. that for all his self-pity, he still had some fight in him. zanka was losing determination and enjin merely gave him a reason to believe again.

and now, with amo. ignoring the friction between the two of them, enjin chooses not to coddle her and let her wallow in her fears. his response is very likely rooted in the need to get her back up on her feet. amo has been sheltered for too long and it would be wrong of enjin to shield her from the harsh reality of what it means to be a giver and a cleaner. and when you look at it, he’s not really telling them anything they don’t already know. he lets them work it out on their own. talk things through. and that’s the best kind of guidance one can give.

the thing about janka that i think is truly soooo interesting is that jabber does lose interest in zanka. like wonders Outloud if maybe he made the wrong choice and should've picked someone else to fight. and the way that exacerbates all of zanka's current issues w his inferiority complex to the point that he continues to think about it / use it as a concrete example for why he needs to get stronger. like jabber's interest and validation is now so tied up in his sense of self worth that he needs to Prove to his Literal Antagonist that he's worth it. crazy. insane. huge fan. what the fuck is wrong with them.
