Veronique Chevalier is the eccentric Françican (Français-American) Chanteuse (Songstress) known as The "Weird VAL" of Dark Cabaret. She's an unparalleled Parodist; a Steamy Chanteuse, and Spooky Polkanista, who has been described as a campy incarnation of Edith Piaf from a parallel universe - the one in which her parents are Jim Morrison, and Elvira, Mistress of the Dark, and her godparents are Lucille Ball and Weird Al. As a self-proclaimed Steampunk "Mad Sonictist," MADemoiselle Veronique takes maniacal pleasure in combining previously unrelated musical forms into new, unholy combinations. She vows to leave no genre unadulterated in her quest to create the ultimate Sonic Frankenstein... She originated the genre of "Gothic Polka" with the 2008 release of her album "Polka Haunt Us: A Spook-tacular Compilation" which was an Official Selection on the 51st Annual Grammy Ballot. An instrumental version of one of the tracks from the recording, entitled "Bubbe's Dybbuk Polka" was included in the soundtrack of the film "Four Nights With Anna", directed by Jerzy Skolimowski (Roman Polanski's mentor). Veronique is also the recipient of The Unanimous Choice Award for Best Independent Cabaret Artist at The 14th Annual Los Angeles Music Awards. Her twisted brand of humour hits at the core of daily reality. Being gonged off the premiere season of America's Got Talent (which is FAKE reality) was irrefutable proof her gifts are wasted on the masses. Maurice Chevalier said, "Thank Heaven for little girls!" & Veronique Chevalier says, "Thank Hell for moi!" + + + Mademoiselle V's

Bonjour chere 'Fiends' & Fan(g)s! During the course of my evening as Em Ceess (Mistress of Ceremonies) for "Voyages Extraordinaires", a steampunk extravaganza, featuring live music, vendors, food, libations and art, with headliners Abney Park, at Queen Bee's Art & Cultural Center in San Diego, on Saturday, February 12th, 2011, videographer Marc Balanky from KNSD Sound Diego, the NBC Television affiliate station's blog, conducted a short interview with La Moi about my views on the Steampunk Phenomenon.
The music in this video is by San Diego-based band Tragic Tantrum, featuring the beautiful Zoe Tantrum, a prolific musical artiste and creative powerhouse.
Steampunk culture is gaining more and more attention from the media, and is capturing the imaginations of ever greater numbers of followers. I think H.G. Wells & Jules Verne would be astonished at what their imaginations have wrought! .
