Happy June 1st!! #greatthingstocome
Hey Hey Hey!! Happy Monday! #blessedandhighlyfavored #getupandgo #greatday
Enjoying my visit with the residents and staff here at Westpoint to speak on getting organized!! #wellorganizedliving #organization #happythursday #mariekondo #containerstore #giveaway (at Westpoint at Scenic Vista Apartments - Ft. Worth, TX)
Although it's a little rainy today, happy Monday!!
I have to give it to @sharpie for this highlighter!! Been using it through out the day and not a smear nor decrease in color! A time or two grabbing docs straight from the printer to mark up and not a smear!! Will definitely be picking up some more colors!! #nosmear #highlighter #organizingobsessed
The Stomach Bug Box
With Flu/Cold/Stomach Bug season here we are all trying what we can to avoid or beat it! But sometimes we are bitten by the very yucky ones that make our stomachs very unhappy.
Here something to help battle those bugs with, The Stomach Bug Box!
Here’s the things you’ll need to make one for your own home:
2- Tall Kitchen Trash Bags
1- Water Bottle
1- Set of gloves and Clorox wipes (Just in case there was a mishap before you got to you stomach bug box.)
1- A plain full size flat sheet (This will come in handy for protecting the surrounding floors and furniture (i.e. bed, carpets, car, etc.) and can be picked up super cheap from a thrift store or
1- Large or XL (photos below of both sizes) Multi-Function Separator Bin from The Container Store
Also any stomach or anti-nausea medications or treatments.
Now that the time may have come to use the box, first thing you will do is empty all the contents you stored inside out and place where desired. Next place one trash bag in the bottom of the bin, then use the second to line the bin (similar to you trash can.
If you choose to purchase the XL, a tall kitchen trash bag will fit snug around the bin which will help avoid any “spillage”.
Here’s what the storage looks like for the large size bin from The Container Store
The same insert instruction will follow for the large but the difference will be that you may want to add a rubber-band to your supply list for use around the bag to avoid it slipping.
Hope this may help bring some ease to what can be a rough situation. Stay Healthy, Happy and Organized!! -XO
With the fourth of July right around the corner there will be lots of road trips and traveling. If you or your family and friends are headed out let me suggest using a plastic tote to hold all your road trip go-to’s! I like the clear, since it makes it a bit easier to find things. Also they keep everything centralized and contained for easy and quick access. Another thing to keep in mind is heaven for bid, youre in a vehicle accident. These totes can help keep small items like toys, cameras, soda cans and markers from become flying objects. You can find this tote and many other styles, sizes and colors at The Container Store near you or online. Just click the pic!! Have a happy a safe holiday!!
Putting away the Christmas stuff
It dawned on me the other day it may be too late to right about post about Christmas decor storage. But then I drove by a home that still had lights up (no judgement) so I figured that a friendly tip or two would be fine. Since we all move at a different pace I figured they were just needing a hand. :-)
This is a cord/light wrap. It's pretty self explanatory. You just tuck in either the male or female end of the lights in one of the notches and proceed to wrap the around the center. Once you are done tuck the remaining end into an open notch and Voila!
Also if you don't feel like picking up one of the wraps, try a hanger!
Here is just the kid's gold tinsel that I gave them to wrap around a hanger. It's super quick and easy. Also makes putting away AND taking out the the decorations next year super easy!!
Organizing Your Kid's Essential Oils in 20 minutes or less!
Here's a quick and simple way to store all those essential oils that you may use on your kids or in your home. Especially when you often use them in multiple locations or even just stored in one central spot.
I started with a utensil tray that I picked up from The Container Store for $17.99, scissors, card-stock (I went with multicolored for the kids), glue, and my handy paper cutter. Yes, I used the paper cutter and scissors because I cannot cut a straight line to save my life and it's drives me nuts!
As you may have noticed in the previous photo there are 9 small holes in the tray. Those I added in using our Dremel, that way it would allow me to use 1 1/2'' finishing nails to anchor the tray to the wall securely as you see in this photo. It's important you test that it is anchored so you don't mess up your walls, have it fall off the wall or worse it fall off and hit someone.
You will also want to remember to pick a location that works best for you. This is mounted in the corner or the fall that the children's bedrooms meet. I opted for this location because, 1-This is for the upstairs. 2-That's where I use them most. 3-Storing them in the bathroom I was concerned about the constant increase and decrease in temperature. 4-It was an empty wall with an open spot high enough my kids cant reach!
After nailing the tray to the wall I attached the labels. Labels are not a must but in my opinion, you've gone this far to organize your oils why not go all the way?
If you choose to add labels for method and display is totally up to you. I opted for keeping it basic with card-stock and printing my labels from my office. My kids often change their mind (as many, many kids do) and if next month the color choice changes, it's a very simple switch.
Now the fun part! Fill it in with all the oils and accessory items you may need! What drew me to using this tray with my idea was that it allowed for storage space of a carrier oil and also another or a small spray bottle.
I hope you all find this helpful in staying well organized throughout your oily journey. Have fun!
Oily and Organized!
Many people, including myself, have gained or have interest in improving their overall wellness with using essential oils. Every person has their preference on brand but something that I noticed quickly is that regardless of brand, the collection of oils can grow rather quickly. With so many little bottles and reference books it can become disorganized very quickly.
After my trip to Utah to visit the Young Living farm this summer I came home and realized with the products I brought home and the ones that we already had our cabinet looked like EO (essential oil) chaos.
So I went online and purchased this great little rack and now our oils are easy to access, we can read the labels, the rack is clear so it keeps it simple and clean!
How you stack or sort them is up to you! I like to group them together if we have more than one of the same. I also keep an inventory sheet of what is in there because of the number in the tray also if allergy, cold/flu, or sports event is coming up, it's a quick reference of what we have or what is low and needs to be purchased soon.
Keep your eye out for for few post on organizing your essential oil collection coming soon and if you are interested in learning more about the use of essential oils just click! (the photo)

Visiting Friends and Family Overnight
As Thanksgiving approaches many of us will be spending the time visiting family or friends. It's a time to laugh, love and share moments and memories. Sometime that can be a challenge for the host, their family, and even their guests. Here are a few ideas to help make the Holidays organized, enjoyable, and fun for everyone!
Host:
-Remember you're spending time with the people you love! Enjoy the moment and be present! Try to limit your usage on your devices. Yes it’s realistic to say you will be on your phone but it shouldn’t be attached to your hand like a second skin. Yes stay connected but it’s not necessary to post every photo every moment every split second it’s captured. Share them at the kiddos nap time, or the car ride to the ice skating rink, or at bedtime. Don’t feel like you have to be attached to your phone to be the paparazzi. Make a fun hashtag for you and your guests to share photos effortlessly between each other (i.e. #DoeFamFun #TurkeyBowl2014).
-If you are hosting guests that will be staying overnight but a afraid things will get a little chaotic, try creating a light itinerary for you and your guest. It will provide your guest with direction on what to expect while staying in your home. It can omit the dreaded question, "What are we going to do?” Also as the host you know exactly when the comings and goings are, meal times, and activities occurring so you feel less anxious, rushed or caught off guard.
-If you don't like your guest going through your home's ins and out's then simply provide them with everything they need. A small basket or tote with all the guest essentials is a great way to keep well intended family from snooping through your bathroom. Try to include thing they may forget like a new bar of soap, razor, toothbrush, mini shampoo, conditioner, and even a wash cloth. If a guest has a special health need (seasonal allergies, etc.) or personal preference (i.e. extra blanket, or pillow at night) leave one in their room. It's not your job to be their housekeeper or at their beck and call but for the time period your guests are visiting your home is their home.
-Plan your meals. Plan out your meals limits the questioning of, "What should we eat?" It will help you know exactly what to purchase when you go to the store. Also you should have a a firm range on how much cooking time will be needed while your guests are visiting.
-Know your guests and be aware if they have conflicts with family members. You don't need to know all their business just the business that affects your event. I'm sure your heart may be well intended in trying to repair the long standing rift between guests. But group gathering, events and holiday parties are not the time to place feuding relatives next to each other at the table. Unless you’re prepared to have your meal ruined or a crazy disaster don't use meal time a venue to repair a rift in the family? Yes it can go well but also it can go horribly wrong. If that is your intent then try to find a time that you can pull your guests away privately to handle the matter.
-BREATHE!! Relax! Often times when guests visit the host find the need to be the "do it all" person. That's not needed more times than not. If your guests offer to help while you have 4 items cooking a timer going off and a child having a tantrum, take it! Some of the greatest holidays memories are created doing a simple no effort task. 10 years from now what do you want to remember, all Holiday you spent exhausted and glued to the kitchen or laughs and joy shared with your family and friends?
Guest:
-If you are staying with family or friends remember, it's NOT a hotel so don't treat your host like the Guests Services Rep at a hotel. Thank your host, they have more than likely worked harder than they are will to admit in preparation for your visit.
-Be gracious. If you’re a bit out of your element and/or uncomfortable remember we all do things differently and before you know it you'll be having a great time! If not politely pull your host aside and share your concerns.
-Don't crazy over pack. If you’re going to your in-law's house for 2 days, and staying on their pull out couch don't pack 4 suitcases! Be mindful of the amount of space you will be given. You may not have a chance to unpack you belongs (due to limited space) and there's nothing like tripping over your guest's belongs spread everywhere.
-When packing your bag try sorting them by the outfit. By packing all of one outfit together it will be easy to find or know what you will be wearing each day and/or activity.
-If you have a special need or desire (blanket, food allergy, medical condition that would apply to the visit) for overnight try to provide that info to your host prior to your arrival. Your host would like your visit to be just as great as you do. More times than not the host does not mind doing what they can, and may even appreciate you letting them know prior to the event.
-Enjoy yourself and be present. Try not to be on you device the whole time or isolate yourself from the group. If you are not enjoying yourself or not feeling welcomed, politely pull your host to the side (or away from the group) and let them know. Share your thoughts and feelings but be respectful in your delivery. I'm sure your host may not be away there is an issue but will gladly do what they can to handle it.
Now I know all of that can be a lot to take in but most of us already do these things anyway or may have and a few slipped our mind. My suggestion to you all is remember your end goal… Have Fun! It’s all about love, laughter, family and friends. When you have your eyes set on that all the other things just fall into place. But if all the planning and preparation still seems a bit overwhelming to you, contact me! I’d love to help make your event a smooth and successful experience for both you and your guests!
For those of you that LOVE making your planner colorful and fun I have to share these with you! These are Staedtler pens (click photo) and I’m obsessed! I’ve used Le Pen, Sharpie, etc. and am such a fan of these. They do not bleed or run. They also have a great grip for the longer writing stents and move smoothly across multiple paper textures. It doesn’t hurt that they come in this fun case to help me keep up with and stay organized! I know everyone has a preference and I do love using all my pens for other projects but I will say for my planner I will be using these babies.
Such a simple and direct statement, that packs so much power. One of the keys to keeping live well organized is, If it has no purpose or intended use, get it out!!
