Sorry to those who followed this account hoping for content. It’s pretty dead, I’ll admit it. I can’t promise there will be more here in the future but this comic will be uploaded in WEBTOON under the name Tales from Wenatus so maybe look for it there?

Day 29: magic and witchcraft

Magic and witchcraft is a topic not many in Bronmir wishes to talk about.

Few are brave - or greedy enough to dabble in the spirits forbidden magic, and those who do must be in perfect harmony in both mind and soul in forder to keep these enormous forces in balance.

Small amounts of magic isn’t life-threatening and is used by the wise ones to see the future in dreams or by priests who wants to comunicate with the gods, while large amounts of magic is used by those who wants to be powerful or wise without putting in the work.

Can the magic be controlled it will be the most powerful tool and the user can become invincible, but if they lose their concetration the darkness will take over and they lose themselves to the spirits and demons.

Because magic attract evil spirits and dark creatures magicians are often exiled and forced to live in humble houses deep in the woods as not to risk the towns being hit by the sickness and death that often followes the magic-hungry creatures.

Day 29: homes and housing

Because of the often harsh climate only the roof is visible. The rest of the house is underground inn oorder to keep the space warm.

First house: the wind blows along the roof. Most of the house is underground.

Second house: costumized to fit on the mountainside

Third house: Lava-proof foundation

Forth house: Big houses, water-proof

Day 26: religion and faith

AITI: Mother of the universe

VAHKUR: God of strength, born of the mountain

FJOR: Goddess of fertility, born of the sea

ONTO: God of luck and fortune, born of the east wind

OKJA: God of mishaps and misfortune, born of the west wind

FORDUU: God of chaos and death, born of lava and ash

Day 25: priest or head of religion

A priest funktions as kind of a religous advicer.

They don’t speak/communicate directly with the gods, but recieve signs, visions in the form of hallucinations or dreams. If the priest wishes to ask the gods something or for other reasons contact them, they will use small amounts of magic to help the trance along.

Each god has a priest (except Aiti) who represents their ideals and can advice the commoners without warping their words beyond recognition and misguide the masses to their own advantage. 

Each priest is chosen by their predicessor and is so because they in some way embody the god’s beliefs and ideals with a pure heart. They are also judged by the gods themselves.

The priests traditional garments are handed down to the next in line and is treated with upmost respect as these clothes often get very old before they are replaced.

Day 24: law enforcement

Law and order is upheld by the kings garde (in the capital) also called “knights”, and by normal guards in the smaller cities and towns.

Guards are chosen by the chieften in the smaller cities and by a general in the kings garde.

The gards and guards are chosen based on their loyalty to Vahkur, God of Strength, and their willingness to follow his ways. It is, however, custom to paint Onto’s, God of Luck and Fortune, symbol over the eyes when in uniform, so that he may favour you as you are out patrolling the streets or at fighting in a war.

Day 23: ancient alter and symbols

Alters like this one was used for sacrificing large animals or on rare accations, humans.

Temples can be abandoned or left to nature if the alter itself is damaged or if there no longer is a need for large offerings in that region.

Day 22: maps and wayfinders

*on the map* havet = sea

Way-finders and map-makers go out into the country to draw and write down their desoveries. They great Keemin mountains is often visited by those who wants a better view over the landscape. 

Many also travel by sea to establish the borders between land and sea, but no one has dared to go to the mysterious land behind the mountains. It is said to be filled with monsters and sickness.

Day 21: bodymodification and jewelry

Jewelry is woren by both sexes and by every social classes. Gold and bronze is worn by women and silver and iron by men.

Tattoos are made by needle and thread dipped in ink made from coal and water and then dragged though the skin leaving dark lines under the skin. After a while the tattoos become green or blue due to the coal made from wood. The colours depend on the ind of tree. The motives are simple with writing and symbols dedicated to the gods.

Day 20: family

A normal family in Bronmir consists of one husband (or more) and one wife (or more) with their children and a slave (depending on the wealth of the family).

This is an example of a family. There is a father returning home (maybe he is a way-finder or a merchant) to his wife and two - soon three  - children and a slave from Yulo. Here the slaves job will be to help out on the families property and watch the children. Some jobs for slaves depend on the slave’s skill set (cooking, sowing, making tools ect.) while other jobs are for everyone (working in the fields, fishing, cleaning and washing clothes).

Day 19: marriage and relationships

In Bronmir both men and women have the right to devorce their spouse. Both the marrige and the devorce go through an official third party to make it public and fair.

It is legal for two of the same sex to be married, but because they can’t produce children to carry on the family name it is slightly looked down upon. It does become more acceptable if there is brought in a third person of the opposite sex, who can contribute to making a children and there by an heir or heiress.

To have a husband and a wife with one or more lovers on the side is not uncommon - it is however punishable if to take slaves as lovers. It is also common for a gay woman and a gay man to marry and have a family and then have their own partner on the side.

Day 18: medicine and healing

Medicin in Bronmir is primitive compared to the other countries, but because the people living in the northen country is build stronger and more used to the harsh weather, it takes a lot for them to get sick. Smaller ills like the flu or influenza is quickly cured with herbs and ointments, and the more serious injuries is easily taken care of with an offering to Fjor, Goddess of Fertility, and some rest. 

All medicin and healing happens under Fjor’s “supervision” and all midwives and doctors come from her people.

Day 17: head of power

Kings and queens (whoever is the leader) is chosen by one of the four gods and reigns until they die. Only one person is chosen, but both parties is equal in ruling the country. Queens and kings each have their frields of specialty to command. They may choose to work together on every area, but ony the one assigned the area can make a final disission.

The kings tasks: Warfare, law, order, punishment, economy, tax, welfare

The queens tasks: Growth, farming, medicin, alchemy (and other sciences), the satisfaction of the gods (offerings and sacrifices)

Day 16: the wise one

Every city and town has and elderly woman or man whom either is the oldest or wisest person in the area.

People can come and ask for advice about everything from the gods to marital problems. “The wise one” often lives on the edge of their town or a forest.

Day 15: a good meal

Top: Mead, Porridge

Bottom: Potatos, stew, whale meat, elk meat

Day 14: traditional clothing

Traditional clothing is used on special occations, such as weddings, religous ceremonies or when in the presense of royalty.

The suit is made from coloured wool with very fine fur over ther shoulders as a vest and overlaying dress or pant of light skin.

Jewelry and bottons are made from silver or iron (for the men) and gold or kobber )for the women).

Day 13: relationships with foreigners

Devuado and Bronmir has made a peace treaty and has established a trade route that also leads to Man.

Man adores the women from Bronmir.

Koita is still sceptic toward the big, gruff strangers.

Yulo’s people are often taken as slaves or servents to rich families.
