Millennials are notorious for quitting jobs, and it’s not because of “entitlement,” as some people accuse. Work culture is a growing priority for people applying for a job. It’s more than just “employee engagement.” Toxic environments that demand working even while off-duty, tolerate harassment, and prioritize profit over purpose are red flags to new job seekers. Far from “entitlement,” it’s a practical mindset that will help people find productive environments that will improve their performance.

 Growing cashless economy

The Philippines is far from being a leading cashless economy like South Korea and the United Kingdom, but we’re making slow and steady steps that are expected to become greater strides in 2020. Cash might still be king, but it won’t be forever. The world is expected to become completely cashless by 2030, and if we don’t want to fall behind, the Philippines needs to catch up. More and more stores are accepting Alipay, GCash, Paymaya, and even GrabPay, and there are rumors of other cashless payment projects in the works.

Mass hiring of younger demographics

It’s the Gen Z world and we’re just living in it. The younger generation is said to be mobile, entrepreneurial, and tech-savvy in a way unseen in other generations. This is the real generation of digital natives, and their ease with technology is what makes them invaluable to employers. The boomer work arrogance has no place in innovation anymore—it’s the era of the flexible and innovation Gen Z.

The return of the liberal arts degree

Since the 2010s began, the liberal arts degree was scoffed at and looked down upon as an inferior career in a tech and finance-centric economy. But that’s about to change as the liberal arts major is set to make a comeback in 2020. As AI and other technologies continue to occupy spaces in industries, the liberal arts degree offers irreplaceable advantages: the creativity and drive for innovation, communication with customers, and empathy. These are skills that help companies make informed and meaningful decisions, proving the value of the liberal arts degree.

Data-driven decisions and the boom of artificial intelligence

Data, not money, is king. Companies ranging from those in fast moving consumer goods to media are guided by data-driven decision-making, and more often than not, the greatest analysts and data collectors come in the form of artificial intelligence (AI). Twenty five percent of Fortune 500 companies are expected to bring more AI into their ranks to boost productivity and operational insights, saving costs and increasing production. Some might say that AI will just take over the jobs of hardworking citizens, but this is where the second item on our list comes in.

DECEMBER 5-8 “SINADYA FSTIVAL”

The Sinadya sa Halaran Festival is the joint celebration of the City of Roxas and the Province of Capiz. It is a blended celebration in that it is commended for both social and religious reasons. It is commended each first few days of December in celebration of the Feast of the Virgin of the Immaculate Concepcion who likewise happens to be the patroness of the City of Roxas.

NOVEMBER 3RD WEEK “KAWAYANAN FESTIVAL”

The Philippines is notable for its extraordinary and one of a kind celebrations that are held every year. Panagbenga of Baguio, Ati-Atihan of Iloilo, Sinulog of Cebu, Kadayawan of Davao and Tuna Festival of GenSan are just few out of such a significant number of celebrations in the nation. We can recall that the idea of praising celebrations were conveyed to us by the Spaniards and was presented amid the Spanish Era, it was interesting that as of not long ago, the Filipinos are as yet attached to commending celebrations.

OCTOBER 12 “IBALONG FESTIVAL”

The Ibalong Festival, is a non-religious festival in Legazpi city, Albay, Philippines, and will be held in October. The celebration praises the epic story Ibalong who was joined by three unbelievable legends, specifically Baltog, Handyong, and Bantong. Individuals parade in the roads wearing covers and ensembles to mimic the appearances of the legends and the scalawags, depicting the great fights that advanced into the historical backdrop of Bicol.

SEPTEMBER 8 “SARAKIKI FESTIVAL”

Sarakiki-Hadang Festival is celebrated in Calbayog City, Western Samar during the primary seven day stretch of September. It is featured with an introduction of road artists dressed like chickens and doing their chicken's romance movements. Sarakiki is a custom move and hadang is the offering, so implies it is custom move offering of the Warays to their divinity or gods. Calbayognons trust that spirits involve a place of summon over the intensity of nature which can cause hurt or do well in the public arena. Ceremonies are held to satisfy the spirits, amid feasts and different events like planting, abundant collect season, dry spell, thrashing of the adversary, in the midst of awful pandemics, and cure of the debilitated. AUGUST 1-7 “PANGAPOG FESTIVAL”

This is a thanksgiving festival for a bountiful harvest highlighting the culture of the Sama, the indigenous people of Samal, as shown in the indigenous sports, and other culture-based competitions.

JULY 22 “SANDUGO FESTIVAL”

The Sandugo Festival is a historical event that takes place yearly in the island of Bohol. Otherwise known as the Bohol Sandugo Celebration or the Blood Compact Commemoration, this festival commemorates the treaty of friendship of Miguel Lopez de Legaspi and Datu Sikatuna; two people of different race and creed. Captain General Miguel Lopez de Legaspi led the expedition that represented the King of Spain and Datu Sikatuna was a native Boholano chieftain.

JUNE 17 “NILAGAYAN FESTIVAL”

This is a province-wide festivity which coincides with Agusan del Sur’s  Foundation Anniversary in June 17. Incepted in 1993 during the incumbency of the late Gov. Democrito O. Plaza, the festival is a recognition of the Manobo people’s loyalty to their tribal leader, Datu Lipus Makapandong. Literally meaning “the chosen one” the weeklong celebration showcases the indigenous people’s culture through music and dance, native products, ethnic games, and a host of sporting tournaments and special events.

MAY 1 “MAGAYON FESTIVAL”

Magayon Festival is a month-long celebration happening every month of May in Albay Province. This festival  is meant to honor Mayon Volcano’s beauty, with Magayon meaning “always beautiful to look at.”

APRIL 14-16 “LAMI-LAMIHAN FESTIVAL”

Lami-lamihan Festival is annually held in Lamitan. It is a festival coinciding the foundation of Lamitan Municipality. This festival is a simpel showcases to the traditional of Yakan a rich customs and traditions were music and dances, and crafts are preserve. On this festival people are dressed in colorful costumes to participate in horse races, parades and other activities.

MARCH 10-12 “MALASIMBO FESTIVAL”

Malasimbo Festival has four pillars: music, arts, indigenous people, and environment. The festival is well known for bringing some of the most versatile musicians. In the event, the Malasimbo grounds is decorated with world-class artwork by various talented Filipino and visual artists, also showcasing indigenous peoples’ work.

FEBRUARY 9-12 “21st Philippine International Hot Air Balloon Fiesta”

This event features a variety of sports aviation activities to give spectators all-out fun & entertainment at Clark, Pampanga. It includes Aerobatic Exhibitions, Balloon Bursting, Formation Flying, Gliding and Microlight & Ultralight Flying. You can also enjoy a big selection of food, refreshments, all kinds of merchandise, local goods, balloon fiesta souvenirs, and a lot more!

JANUARY 10-19 “ATI-ATIHAN FESTIVAL”

Aklan’s history dates back to the ten Bornean chieftains who travelled to the Philippines from Borneo after experiencing persecutions there. Upon landing in this part of the country in the 13th century, they struck a land deal with King Marikudo, the Ati (Aklan’s indigenous people) chief at the time.
