“Adelaide, you need to listen to me. You have to sit down. You need to calm down,” he repeated, taking a cautious step towards her once more. “Aurors are going to be here soon enough and you need to have your story straight. We both do.”

“I don’t want to listen to you unless you’re about to tell me this is all a joke,” she snapped, taking another step back. If she didn’t take a step back she would slap him. “No, no, I need Antonin.” But despite saying that she knew he was right, if he was telling the truth aurors would be here and she needed to act like she knew nothing. She didn’t say anything but moved to sit down, showing him she was trying to calm down.

“Excuse me?” He stood up, astonished that she assumed of that. He quickly dropped it though to help her from falling down. Now was not the time for him to let his feelings get in the way. She was the important thing. She was always his #1 priority. “Sit down, Adelaide.”

“No,” she said, moving further away as he stood up. She felt like she couldn’t breathe. He had to be lying, he had to be. “No. He’s not--- He’s not that stupid. Where is he?”

“You.... You let them take him,” she said, standing and stumbling backwards. “Please tell me this is a joke and you didn’t let him get arrested.”

Augustus was silent, unable to form the words. He had no idea how to even tell the girl what had happened, “…It was a set up. She set it up. We were surrounded.”

Adelaide faltered, her frown growing, “What are you saying, Augustus? Who set it up? Where is he?”

“I-I wanted to stay, Addie. He made me go. I need to go back,” he rambled, trying to stand up and move back towards the door.

“He.. Where’s Antonin?” She grabbed his wrist tightly, not letting him go, “Where’s Antonin?” she repeated sternly.

[Augustus barely made it up the steps and towards the door, clutching the wound on his chest and trying to make his way towards the door his vision blurred, having to lean against the wall to hold himself up. Knocking once, he hoped that someone was there to answer]

Adelaide wasn’t paying much attention when she answered the door but snapped into focus when she saw Augustus. “What happened?!” she asked, instantly opening the door fully and helping him inside.
