Today, I am grateful for true blue skies, golden sunshine, and dry ground. I'm thankful that my mama's finally home after working in the med center for five straight days and that all my family is together, safe and sound. I'm so blessed to have all the lights still on and that I can lay my head to sleep in my own bed tonight. You don't have to drive very far from my home to see the devastation this hurricane has caused. The damage caused by tornadoes and flooding is absolutely heartbreaking. Even as the rains seem to falter, it is hard to imagine how we will heal in the aftermath of this disaster. But I can tell you with confidence that in this city I love torn apart by wind and rain, there is an abundance of Hope. The compassion poured out without second thought these past couple of days has shown a light so bright, even when the sun was nowhere in sight. Yes we are tough, resilient, and #houstonstrong- and our strength is rooted in our Love for each other and this city. I'm so honored to call this place my home. I think it's time that the world gets to see why we Houstonians are so loud and proud to be from here. I'm glad to know that amidst the chaos and heartache, God is still good. The sun will rise, and just like the @houstonrockets will hopefully do next season, this city will make a comeback more glorious than we can dream up. So keep your head up, Houston! Blue skies and easier days lie ahead of us, if we can continue to support each other through this journey. You are so so so loved 🌞 (at Houston, Texas)
