my little bro is part of the catacombs community and yeah, it's basically a fully autonomous society! enough that when my bro goes in on a friday night, they don't come out until monday for work- sometimes longer if they took days off.
some of the rooms have fully stocked pantries with cooking equipment, some have movies like the one described above, some have books you're allowed to just take but people always put back- every day people bring things from the outside. artists often set up galleries there. there are rooms with mattresses and hammocks set up for people to sleep. one of the room is just a place where people leave shoes for the fun of it.
this is Known, it's not a secret by any means. the catacombs are as big as paris itself, and people live there just as people live above. it's wonderful when you think about it.

The reason why McConnell is currently ambiguously dead is because KY law was recently amended to state that a vacant senate seat must be filled by a special election, but previously, the duty to fill a vacant senate seat was by appointment of the current governor. The present KY gov is a Democrat, and has the means to challenge the special elections rule in the state supreme court, under the argument that it is unconstitutional to governor's power as outlined in the KY state constitution. So given the risk of a Dem appointee who would become an incumbent to challenge, or a special election race in the middle of the Mamdani Endorsement DemSoc run on congressional seats, McConnell will remain in quantum superposition between life and death until there is no longer a risk of his republican power being challenged.

Funny thing about those posts about people who make strange assumptions from seeing limited amount of media, the "guy who has only seen boss baby" and "when does he steal the bread," those kinds of posts, I did actually personally have a moment like that as a kid.
Some of the games that were most formative to me when I was just starting out in playing videogames as a little kid of around seven years old: Mario 64, Kirby Super Star, and Super Smash Bros. All of these games had bosses which take the form of hands coming to attack the player character. So from this I devised the (very reasonable) theory that it was intrinsic to gaming that every game had you fight some guy's disembodied hand. "When do I fight the hand?"
Also because I was a pretentious seven year old I decided that the reason for this was because a hand represented the hand of the game developer, personally challenging the players. That's why it was very important to be included. I'm not sure what message I should take from this, looking back. Maybe that literally any nonsense conclusion can be rationalized if you try hard enough, or that plenty of smart sounding explanations don't actually mean anything. Or maybe just that I was a weird kid.
