An Envelope

A knock on your door. But when you open it, no one is there by the doorstep....

Except for an envelope.

You open it up and inside was a letter.

Although the writing seems... rather obscured, you feel like you're SUPPOSED to know who wrote this...

Why does this feel... familiar?

There were only two words... and it reads...

Black Lives Matter.

Yet they are discriminated against and treated violently and hatefully by law enforcement and those in our government who have constructed systems specifically to oppress them. We must say no more. 

We born as white must look at our own skin and realize that from the day we are born the cards have been specifically rigged in our favor. No matter how poor or rich we may be, we can never truly understand the pain and suffering of our black brothers and sisters. However that does not mean we cannot stop to listen to them. Listen to their plight, and help them as they need help, not the help we think we should give them. 

It’s a time to listen, It’s a time to learn, and it’s a time to stand up and push back against the system that has put us in this situation whatever way we can. I won’t stand for this and neither should you, and we need to stay perseverance and caring well after the hashtags and the trends disappear.

Pinot Noire smiled at Milk when he saw him with the bunny plush. It wasn’t unusual to see someone with plushies. His boss had an abundant collection himself after all.

“Hello there, what can I do for you, Milk?” Pinot Noire said.

“Ah, well believe it or not, when I was younger, I wanted to be a detective,” Pinot Noire said, smiling at Milk’s compliment, “I would always read about Nancy Drew and the Hardy Boys and how they solved mysteries. And it made me want to become one. But after I found out that they have to expose themselves to some… gruesome scenes… I kinda dropped the idea.”

“Besides, when I was younger, I found writing about being a detective more enjoyable than being one,” Pinot Noire said, blushing, “Oh if only you could read some the stories I wrote when I was younger…”

Milk’s eyes gleamed in curiosity as Pinot Noire told him about his past aspirations and how he wished Milk could read what he wrote when he was younger.

“That’s very cute, and what happened to those ‘drafts’?” He asked, airquoting.

“Well… they kinda manifested into a living book…” Pinot Noire ducked under the counter, whispering as if trying to talk someone out of coming out. Finally, Pinot Noire came back up again, this time holding a book with very tired looking eyes (though you could tell by looking in the books eyes that it was being very shy).

“This is Detective Novella. They contain all the stories I’ve ever written since I was a child and teenager. Sometimes I like to thumb through them whenever I feel I’ve hit a wall in my writing and well… it tends to help from time to time. Don’t be shy, Novella, say hi to Milk!” Detective Novella squirmed a bit before releasing them self from Pinot Noire’s grip and hiding under the counter.

“Ah… they’re a little shy. But they’re super sweet once you get to know them!” Pinot Noire said, assuring Milk.

The demon certainly never saw a living draft book before. He waved at Detective Novella, a bit shy.

"Hello there!" He was unsure what to do in times like this. He wish he studied more on interactions but um, things happen.

Malted Milk Cookie turns, his pet Snap Shot perched on his shoulder. The cookie raises a hand, moving his dread bangs from his eyes and tucking them behind his curled horns so he can see the cookie he's speaking to.

"I dropped something?" He asks the stranger, head tilted. "Oh goodness, I didn't even realize!"

The demon was currently in his "trademarked" angel winged hoodie and some comfortable pants, along with shoes. He's so commonly seen wearing this that a literal stranger can take two seconds to look at Milk and think 'Oh, he loves light colors.'

He offered the wallet that was dropped by the photographer. "Please be watchful of your things next time." He advised.

The hooved cookie reaches out for his wallet, surprised to know that it wasn't in his camera bag. He laughs softly as he puts it away, looking to his pet with a raised brow. It seemed someone had played around in the camera bag just a moment ago.

"Don't worry, I will!" Malted chuckles, looking back to Milk. "Thanks for getting this back to me."

He holds his hand out to the other cookie with a warm smile, the other hand resting on his hip.

"I'm Malted Milk Cookie, by the way! And you are?" He questions, smiling warmly.

He looked at the camera bag curiously, then at the pet Snap Shot, then at Malted Milk Cookie's outstretched hand. "I'm Milk Cookie. Nice to meet you."

He was intrigued by this new fellow. Well. Looks like he found someone new.

The little roll of film makes a chirp-like noise as it notices Milk's gaze, the noise causing Malted to laugh softly.

"A pleasure, really!" He beams, flashing the other cookie a gap-toothed smile.

"Mind if I ask what brings you out so early? I hardly ever see anyone else out hear this time of day." Malted then asks, his tail wagging softly. A curious cookie he is, but that might just come from his sheep-like nature.

He was a tad bit confused. He always walks here at this time. But he can't really blame him, he supposed.

"I'm just out here taking a little stroll, maybe get a good book or two." He admitted. Nowadays, he's been into getting new books to read and learn about; what really caught his eye was the historical section of the libraries he'd go to.

He noticed the photographer's tail wagging in excitement. 'How cute!' he mused to himself.
