OKAY i got no arts but i have an old short beastwood (lantern au) fanfic for consumption

reminder: lantern au is where beast isn't lying and anna is really placed in the lantern as beast and woodsman tries to keep her lit together (divorce arguing ahh)

but something happened where she got blown out and woodsman tried to kill himself, beast saved him and result in exchanging their right eyes

Beast sits on a couch with axe on his lap. he wipes the blood on his right eye and sets it back to the axe, staining the axe with blood

this gives him a flashback of finding Woodsman's laying body with the bloodied axe buried in his head. Beast panics, quickly wiping the blood and cleaning the axe with his hand

it only spread the blood stain, he turns to use his cloak to wipe it off instead. as Beast stares onto the axe, he couldn't help himself to wipe it even more, not stopping, until he heard creaks in the distance

"Beast?"

he turned quickly to see Woodsman coming down the stairs and approaching him

"You should be sleeping" Beast worried, but he moved to the side for Woodsman to sit beside anyway

"I couldn't sleep. Not when I feel your anxiety over my axe"

Beast looks down at the axe and looks back at him

"I'm sorry. I always forget we share visions now"

"Don't apologise for something that isn't your fault, Beast"

Beast curls himself in a little

"It's still.. I could have.."

"Could have what?"

"I could have stayed with you after your daughter's passing. If I never returned to you out of sentimentality, you... you would've been long gone"

"Let's not dwell in the past. We focus on the present, I'm lucky to have you on my watch. And.. I want to repay you"

Beast turned to him as he reaches out for his hand, but he instantly recoiled to move the axe far away from Woodsman

They stare at each other for a moment, Beast panicking while Woodsman is surprised

"Don't... Don't touch this axe."

Woodsman laughed anxiously "I wasn't reaching for that old thing"

Beast relaxed as he watched Woodsman take his other free hand into his

"Thank you."

Beast tilted his head, feeling himself getting warmer when Woodsman gently stroke his palm with his thumb

"For.. what?"

"You silly fool"

Beast was about to retort but stopped himself when Woodsman brought his hand to his lips to kiss

"Thank you for everything you've done for me. I'm grateful to have you"

Beast relaxed, albeit flushed, as he placed the axe down on the floor beside the couch

"You won't try.. that.. again. Will you?"

"After all you've done to save me? I'm not taking your other eye"

Beast shivered and pulled Woodsman into a hug. Woodsman flinched, but returned the embrace

"Promise me, Woodsman"

"I promise, dear Beast"

Beast is silent, only tightening his hug as Woodsman slowly forgets this interaction

Re: Random human body parts showing up in Watcher levels:

In addition to the human ear found in Fetid Glen, there's also an anatomical human heart found in the "Ridgeworks" category in the Watcher level editor:

@mebis-rain-world-corner Pointed out that this heart can be found in Heat Ducts (WARE_I01x)

It's a bit hard to see in the above screenshot, but that is indeed the heart in the center:

There are even several pipes connected to the sides, which I assume are supposed to mimic the aorta.

An alternate version of this room exists in the level editor files (WARE_I01):

I assume this was meant to be from a "past" version of Heat Ducts/Aether Ridge, before the walls of this room collapsed as they appear in WARE_I01x.

The heart even "beats", using a combination of several Cell Distortion effects and light sources:

And there is a "heartbeat" sound effect that plays nearby (though, notably, this is a different heartbeat sound effect than the ones used in Five Pebbles/The Throne/etc)

The more I learn about Aether Ridge and its derived regions, the creepier it seems. There are things like this hidden in plain sight everywhere.

Fetid Glen has a ton of custom tiles/props which were made available with the Watcher version of the Community Level Editor. A lot of them are odd, but probably the weirdest is this tile called "FG Ear":

Which appears to be a realistic human ear. For some reason.

Searching in the level editor txt files for this tile only returned one room, WARC_B02:

It appears to be hidden very inconspicuously in the background, attached to a wire:

It's barely even visible in-game.

I have no idea why this tile exists, only to be used in one room. It's extremely hard to see, but just knowing it's there really creeps me out for some reason.

cannot find the exact screenshot (It was in videocult scholars, but I've left a while ago), but somewhere in fetid glen theres also something shaped like a human skull just hanging out, which is visible in the basic render. This is because kaeporo is a stupid motherfucker.

but yeah fetid glen was probably originally made with the idea of humans or human-like things in mind, and when it was re-adopted by Watcher none of that was changed. too much work I guess, not like its easily visible

I know in older iterations of kae's regions, he would use ACTUAL kanji a lot too

Okay I found the "skull" you were talking about... I kind of see it, but I believe this is just the "FG Small Mush1" tile, seen at an odd angle:

However in terms of human-like things showing up, this tile also exists:

("Heart", found in the "Ridgeworks" category, with Ridgeworks being a subregion of Aether Ridge)

Running a scan of the level editor files doesn't turn this tile up anywhere, so I assume it was never used, but still... I have no idea why this exists, or why it's lumped in with the Ridgeworks tiles. Very strange.
