Forgiving your abusers is an act of defiance. It is an act of power, of regaining control of your life. Forgiveness is powerful; when you are ready, when your anger has been let out, forgiveness will be the most freeing thing from the shackles of abuse that were put on you before. 

If you want to get back at your abusers: learn to forgive them. Take away the power they have to control you. Forgiveness is saying “you no longer have control of me” and is, once again, an act of defiance against someone who has hurt you.
