Yelena is relentless, never gives up and keeps on fighting. The best thing I love about her character is how much she’s been through, how much she’s lost and been beaten down and told she’s not worth anything, she’s NOBODY and how much she has FOUGHT BACK and defended herself. She’s never took anything lying down and if you’ve hurt her, if you’ve betrayed her, if you’ve tried to invalidate her she’s come back swinging and shown she is proud of herself and her own legacy as a Black Widow. I really hope that one day Marvel will acknowledge her as more than just “The Second Black Widow” and let her be her own person. Let her create her own legacy as an anti-hero, an antagonist, a character so many people could relate to simply because she struggles with not knowing who she is and what she was meant to do with her life and who she was really meant to fight for. 

Spoiler alert: it’s you honey. Fight for YOU.

—— NEGATIVE ——

Yelena is a very insecure character and so many people see that insecurity in her and take advantage. Everyone knows she WANTS to be Natasha’s equal or better, that she wants to find her OWN voice, her OWN sense of self and her temper, her insecurity surrounding Natasha and her own identity is something that FREQUENTLY exploited by everyone and anyone. People know that’s exactly how to get under her skin and it does get to her, even if she acts like it doesn’t. Then she goes and fights the person because HOW DARE but there you have it. She’s got a weakness. Like anybody else.

Eyes crinkle and head jerks away to look out the window , withholding further ...whatever people called it. Emotions , what have you. Instead , a sneer and sniff at Capital Hill as they passed the Washington monument. 

There’s a long stretch of silence before she shifts in her seat , her index finger tracing along the lower lines of her mouth as it purses. 

“ You might have had a care .” Her voice is low with censure , but sharp enough to audibly permeate the slap in it. “ If you knew there were people within it. Working their own missions . With their own angles , their own lives on the line . You see good and bad , the world so black and white in your eyes when your own SHIELD was behind just as many atrocities . How is it better --- how are your people any better? ”

She rolls down the window , lighting a cigarette and breathes out the side. Long exhale. 

“ Everyone’s cover blown , including my own . ”  After a beat she takes a finally drag and tosses it out the window. “ You had no right. ” She sinks down in the chair and starts to laugh , covering her face . “ I would tell you I almost died. Just to have seen the look on your face. But I can’t seem to keep my own straight. ”

A book. Yeah right, well. If she were to be read, she was going to be a good read.

“ I can’t believe you did that. ” She laughs harder, her accent thicker. “ What a mess. The balls on you. I can’t believe ‘Talia. ”
