About Me

I love whump ranging from injury-based (especially involving combat) and environmental to sickfic, as long as there's no emeto. This blog is likely to be a mix of all of these--sometimes a character will be fighting for their life, other times they'll just have a cold.

Feel free to send me asks or DMs with such things as fic ideas (can't promise to write them all), recommendations of whumpy stuff, etc, or just to talk whump generally or indeed just to talk. Again, as long as there's no emeto.

Also, I know many people on snzblr aren't into this, but I genuinely welcome snz asks, replies and DMs: messages about fictional scenarios, messages about my sneezing (I wouldn't self-obs the way I do if I didn't love attention in that regard), and IF WE ARE MUTUALS I am also happy for you to tell me about your own sneezing.

love contagion love dread love anticipation… but there is also something about someone who seems to have caught a cold without rhyme or reason.

maybe it’s far from flu season, maybe they can’t recall being around anyone who’s been sick—or many people at all, and maybe they’re not the type to get colds often… so why now??

and of course, this means they are likely unprepared. who knows what kind of medicine they may have in the back of their cabinet, if it hasn’t expired (or better yet, anything remotely medicinal packed among their things on a trip)… do they even have tissues? and how long can they make it before their nose really becomes a problem?

Immortal nonhuman A who's never been sick or sneezed in his life, developing the kink because he's so fascinated by his very sneezy human partner B

"Hah--tsschooo! Snf." B sniffled and wiped at his nose with his handkerchief. A couldn't take his eyes off him, the way his nose twitched, clearly still tickling, nostrils flaring as he struggled to regain control of his sensitive nose. B turned to A with another sniffle and a glare, blinking back allergic tears. "You always stare at me when I sneeze. I'd ha--haahh'TSCHHOOO!--have thought you'd be used to it by now." "It's just so...human. At first I simply found it intriguing, but it soon became endearing..." A hesitated. "Even...attractive."

A is unfamiliar with the concept of blessing sneezes. Until he becomes human, catches a cold, and B blesses him--then he learns about this human custom and realises he's not been blessing B when he should. After that he makes sure to bless B's every sneeze--even during B's frequent rapid fits.

A cold that isn't contagious, because the partner that's caught it is smaller, softer, has a weaker immune system. They're always catching little colds that linger in their heads, causing kittenish fits of congested sneezes, and then make their way into their chest. Their bigger, masc parter (I am imagining lesbians but do as you will) never worries about catching their colds, so they just cuddle up to them, wipe their nose, tut and fuss over them, gently chastise them for catching yet another little cold that anyone else could have fought off.

They end the night as usual when the femme is sick: cuddled up together in bed, the little one's snotty, dazed face propped up on their partner's chest, where they can muffle messy sneezes to their heart's content.

Alternatively:

It's the bigger, masc partner who has a weaker immune system, and the smaller, femme partner who takes care of them and doesn't worry about catching their colds.

Allergies self-obs (mess warning!)

I've been a sniffly, sneezy mess since Wednesday and it shows no sign of stopping.

On Wednesday evening I went out with some friends and I sneezed four times in an hour. My nose was dripping and I didn't have tissues so I was sniffling constantly and wiping my nose on the back of my hand whenever I thought no-one was looking (pretty sure some people saw though, they must think I'm gross lol), and my nose has hardly stopped running since, and I keep sneezing...

Yesterday I sneezed 10 times (including the three sneezes in the middle of the night that made my nose start running again, when I'd thought that after running near-constantly for 24 hours it had finally stopped) and had to blow my nose once. And when I say "had to", bear in mind I don't usually have tissues when I don't have a cold and will just wipe my nose on the back of my hand when it runs, this time I actually had to get tissues, there was no way around it.

I woke up this morning with a nose full of snot and immediately sneezed, it left my nose dripping and I had to give it a long, wet blow (it was very satisfying and soaked the tissue). I was still sniffly afterwards and it wasn't long before I was sneezing again... and again, an hour or so later, this time such a huge wet sneeze that I immediately had to blow my nose again. A few hours later came another sneeze that left me sniffling wetly, followed half an hour later by another that left my nose running so much I needed to blow a third time. I've never needed to blow three times in one morning when I don't have a cold before!

Later this afternoon I had an intense false start, thankfully soon followed by another wet sneeze which of course meant more snot streaming from my nose, and had to blow my nose for a fourth time. I used to never have to blow my nose at all except when I had a cold, and even last year when my allergies got pretty bad at times, it was extremely rare for me to need to blow more than once in a day. But today I'm snottier than I've ever been before. I've sneezed again since then taking me up to seven today so far. I keep sniffling and my nose tickles so bad, I'm sure there are more sneezes to come as the day isn't over yet...

DND has diseases, of course, though they're mostly fictional ones and many of them are quite gross and deadly if that's offputting to people

The Earthdawn Survival Guide supplement for Earthdawn has both severe (fictional) diseases, and minor conditions including mechanics for catching a cold from being caught in the rain (there's even art, though it's of a character who's quite ugly to me, but he's got a very runny nose and is holding a mug of tea and looks full of cold). I discovered this through TVTropes.

the whole idea of holding a tissue to someone's nose to catch their sneezes or whilst they blow their nose or wiping their nose for them is easily one of the cutest and hottest things ever and i simply refuse to believe otherwise

Mess talk warning under cut

Imagine you're talking to a friend and their nose starts running. Just dripping slightly at first, but it gets runnier and runnier and they don't seem to notice at all. Eventually, there's a trail of thick snot running down from one nostril onto their upper lip, while the other nostril isn't streaming quite as much but is definitely drippy and wet. They don't seem aware of this and they're definitely not doing anything about it.

What do you do? Ignore it? Tell them their nose is running? Hand them a tissue without saying anything? Something else?
