đ€ Subtle Signs of a Caretaking Dynamic đ€
Caretaker stepping in front of whumpee instinctively when there's gunfire/a loud noise/etc.
Whumpee looking towards Caretaker instinctively when faced with danger or a difficult question.
Caretaker carrying whumpee's belongings for them or opening doors for them. Generally making tasks easier for whumpee.
Caretaker knows things about whumpee's recovery or medical situation off the top of their head, without even having to think about it.
Or Caretaker gets defensive when asked about whumpee. "Why do you want to know? What do you want with them?"
Whumpee leaning against Caretaker's shoulder when they're next to each other.
Caretaker lightly brushing a hand against whumpee's hand in a gesture of comfort. Or whumpee initiates that, and Caretaker picks up on a hint and holds their hand.
If the relationship is fated or somehow bound, there may be markers of a unique bond, such as tattoos, bite marks, etc.
Their tone of voice changing completely as soon as they start talking to each other. Maybe they're shy with everyone else but joke with each other. Or maybe they act cheerful with everyone else, but turn serious as soon as they can talk to the one other person who knows what's really going on.
Nonverbally checking if whumpee is okay with meaningful glances across a room or "thumbs-up versus thumbs-down" gestures.
Caretaker immediately noticing when something is wrong for whumpee and getting visibly stressed.
As someone with a few years experience in martial arts with sparring, I would like to explain some
Realistic reactions to being struck
Punched in the gut:
yelp of pain--like "ah!" And then a groan like "ohh" as the nausea hits
Curl protectively over their gut
Arms out to stop any incoming punches
After expelling air from the impact, they may not be able to breathe in. They may just lose some of their wind, or all of it.
If whumpee is trained (or used to it!) they may know to breathe out a little on impact, softening the blow and reducing the amount of air they lose
It hurts, so victim is going to be at least grimacing and guarding their stomach
Losing your wind is disorienting and panic-inducing, even for someone with training
A hard enough punch may be enough to drop whumpee, especially if: they are skinny (less padding), their body is trying to conserve oxygen (like they lost ALL their wind at once), they are panicked/outmatched (to protect themselves), or they're going to puke
Puking can also happen a bit afterward
give your living weapons princess treatment
let the caretaker take care of them
let them be spoiled rotten, let them be confused
let them be picked up, and let them be dressed up in pretty clothes (better if all they've had before was just an old armour)
let them be called nice words, and taken to nice parties
let the caretaker do things for them
relaxing after a hard day's work
throw him thursday
Rescue was only the begining. So fresh from captivity left whumpees mind confused and dissociated, especially from coping for weeks in survival. Whumpee has to be held, restrained and treated through brute force by their own team. They fight and cry, they donât know what theyâre begging for, they just want it to stop.
No one wants caretaker to see them like this; to be screamed, shouted and cursed at by someone theyâre closest with.Â
But caretaker wants to see them now. The second they shove their way in, whumpee completely changes. No more aggression, no more fear, itâs just a wounded, soul sinking sob.
TW: manhandling
I see a lot of shoving whumpees against walls in movies but I personally prefer them to be violently slammed against the wall. I want to see the momentum transfer. I want this to be so forceful that the shock absorption from their flesh is negligible to the amount of total energy involved in this collision. I want them to feel the rush of blood from the sheer inertia of being forced backward so quickly.
(I know this is two days after I normally would have posted it I had three midterms in a week and then accidentally slept though all of today)
âYou need to rest.â
âI can rest when Iâm dead.â
âYouâll be dead soon if you donât put the weapon down and go rest.
âIâm training-â
âYouâve trained enough. Now lie down before I pick you up and throw you in the bed myself.â
chokeslam appreciation post. pin that whumpee by the throat. to the wall. to the ground. hell, lift them up by the throat, that's also a good one. i like the way whumpees desperately grab onto whumper's wrist to try to dislodge it. the way they claw at the skin. so frantic â and why wouldn't they be?
My favorite is when they do nothing because they love it and theyâre good and take it just to surprise the whimper⊠maybe make them feel some things they didnât know they felt for whumpee.
đđ»đđ»đ„șđđ«Žđ»maybe like⊠even egg them on until they pass out. Maybe theyâd be so dedicated to take all they got that theyâd use their last breath to keep praising them or something even idk đ€·đ»đ«Ł
as soon as a whumpee is into it and egging whumper on its Over. dont test my whumpers. /j they will make sure whumpee doesnt enjoy it but they will keep saying whumpee must enjoy it since theyve been so eager to lean into it before.
Whumpee pulled back and held in place with a grip against their forehead. Doesnât matter how much they struggle as the needle jabs into the side of their neck. Theyâre stuck there, pulled against Whumper until they black out
thinking about
Whumper slamming whumpee face-first into the floor. Their powerful hands pressingâgrinding whumpeeâs delicate cheekbone into the ground, twisting their arm behind their back and wrenching it up until whumpee cries out.
The chills when whumpee feels those hands running up their torso, whumperâs low voice in their ear, ordering them to âhold still, cmon now, donât resist me pretty, or Iâll be forced to do some real damage.â
Magical restraints
Preferably some invisible restraints. With Whumpee being pressed against the wall (or on the floor), hands held back by an invisible force that they can't break free from. Maybe wisps of smoke around their wrists for the aesthetics.
- Whumper advancing on them, hand outstretched, fingers out. The pressure on Whumpee's wrists increasing with every step closer.
- Maybe Whumper can feel the magic in his fingertips pulse with every useless struggle.
- Or he just casually waltzes up, hands in his pockets.
- Implied Whumper getting closer and closer, right up against them and they can't even bring up a hand to try and force some distance.
- A flick of his hand and Whumpee is forced down to their knees.
- Another flick of his hand, like snuffing out a candle, and the invisible bonds fall away. The casual show of power.
- Whumpee snarling and spitting insults. Whumper just shakes his head and all of a sudden, Whumpee's raging is cut off mid-sentence. A heavy, invisible pressure now digging into their throat, cutting off their air :3
- The team is coming to save Whumpee. They see them alone in their cell, not even tied up, so they think this is going to be a piece of cake. But Whumpee can't get up. And there is no chain to break, no ropes to cut.
- Meaning they have to seek out the source of the magic first before they can get Whumpee out.
- Or well, maybe the source of that magic has noticed the commotion and is already on his way to them :)
- Bonus: he's standing in the doorway to the cell, blocking the exit.
Whumpee was thrown to the ground by whumper.
"Stay down." Whumper hissed at them.
Whumpee quivered, but swore they heard footsteps leaving. They cautiously lifted there head to look around. The second they did, a hand grabbed them and slammed their head back down against the floor.
"What did I just say." A cold voice whispered.
what's better:
being manhandled while conscious, spitting venomous words and cries for help as they easily wrangle your flailing limbs close to be hoisted along without breaking a sweat
OR
being manhandled while unconscious/sedated, knowing there's nothing you can do to stop them as they scoop you up or throw you over their shoulder, unable to fight the hold that doesn't even need to be tight since you're sure as hell not going anywhere
thinking about lab whump and how the whumpers in that situation usually have the proper equipment to control everything in whumpee's life. and i mean everything. captivity is already sort of like that- you're confined, only have access to food and water you're provided, clothes you're given etc. but in a lab? bro. bro. that but Tenfold.
constant surveillance. proper monitoring of every bodily function that's going on. food and liquids tailored exactly to the whumpers' intentions with whumpee, down to the exact nutrients and how whumpee's body is absorbing them. because they can just check that. do they get clothes? who knows! even if they do, it's likely a hospital gown or something similar. things in the room can be controlled so precisely from the amount of light (maybe even the ratio of natural to articial light) to the temperature. medication- need i say more about medication? all of them look the same, white pills with unknown effects and side effects, and that's not to mention the things whumpee gets their body pumped full of through an IV.
it's just... so much more than your usual "i'm keeping you in my basement and if for some reason you manage to get out and call the cops i'm likely going to jail". it's "you're never getting out. there's twenty of us here and there's round the clock surveillance, number pads, and finger print identification on every door. we know exactly what we're doing and that makes us experts at torturing you in very specific ways you might not even understand. and we're definitely going to act like you don't understand. even if you do get out, who are you calling? the authorities? how do you know they're not funding this?"
you're nothing but a rat in a cage, and you can only hope the button you're pressing is about to give you a treat and not a shock.

hey dawg thanks for feeding us living weapon whumpee enjoyers
i know that generally the vibe for living weapon whumpees is like the stoic "unfeeling" supersoldier type, but how are we feelin about living weapon whumpees that are like. off the shits feral.
more of an attack dog than a super soldier, weapons of mass destruction built into them cybernetically, because their masters aren't looking for efficiency, they're looking to send a message. for everyone around to know that if you don't bow to their rule, they'll send their monster to destroy you and everything you hold dear.
(and ofc the "monster" themself is kept in a constant state of suffering so they're always agitated and the pain clouds their mind too much to question what they're doing and why)
I love the way you think!
I never really thought of that character trope as a living weapon, but you aren't lying, it would count. (My brother and I's ocs would count then Ig) Also ties into monster whumpees :D
Here's some ideas I bounced off of this
Guard Dog Whumpee
CW: Pet Whump Sorta, Classic, the whump community should bring these up more
Whumper having more than one, forcing them to compete with one another. The most brutal earns their medical treatment.
Dangerous whumpees who have to be muzzled and mitted because whumper doesn't have them under control fully. Gentle carewhumpers being able to coerce whumpee into muzzles.
Non-guard dog whumpees equally trapped under whumper's boot being terrified of the guard dog. Sharing space with one is like sleeping on the shore of alligator infested rivers.
Scarred whumpees with dangerous animalistic features bared, backed into a corner with a tail in between their legs. Caretaker is trying their best to appear nonthreatening.
A guard dog whumpee failing its job. It showed no fear to its enemies, but the same cannot be said as they returned home.
Monster Living Weapon Whumpee
Say that three times fast
While rampaging after whumper's enemies whumpee broke the device keeping them confined to whumper. Quickly a symbol of destruction becomes a confused, hurt, and whimpering creature.
Whumpee always thought they were uniquely a monster. Whumper told them so everyday, rewarding them for their monstrousness, telling them they're alone as a creature of evil. Whumpee always thought this until they met caretaker.
Monster whumpees that despite being living weapons show rage in their failures, and pride in their kills. They don't see that whumper's treatment of them is subpar, because they're "partners in crime" of course. Caretaker would never treat whumpee that way if they were their weapon.
Killing Machine
They know what they're capable of, and they don't want to be that
Maybe they wanna do things their way, maybe they're ashamed of being a killing machine. Whumper could care less.
Killing machine in disguise has been living the everyday life, perhaps even an extravagant one. Whumper found them out, and no one has seen whumpee since, until the destruction started.
Killer Machine Villain -> Supervillain meets Villain with the promise to make them more powerful -> Extra Murderous Killer Machine Villain (Unstable)
Robotic whumpee that is just doing what they're told. Whumper was great, whumper was life. Robotic whumpee who sees whumper returning home with the newest model. Whumper who won't stop boasting about how much more efficient and deadly the new one is.
