Listening to the wbn OST and keeping weird thought notes part 1/16
I have zero music knowledge or ability to recall sounds so this isn’t like interesting i just want to keep a log for myself
I wish I knew more about music so I could say more than oh the guy is back when a a cool instrument plays a motif
001 - The truth
Classic, the opening sound, kinda short.
002 - Escape from the citadel
My beloved citadel horns, sounding a little villainous at the start, but then there’s kind of a break early on, and then it kind of slowly turns into something a little more mournful, which is fun. And then the really intense running music which I don’t have a strong memory from the show but is really good.
003- Soft and Stone
Open kind of slow and sad which tracks. Kind of a hard jump in with something low. Sitting here going haha the soft and stone track is kinda sad but it feels like an old grief that doesn’t really hurt anymore. And and then 1:43 hits and a random note makes me want to sob. Ugh it’s so cool. The feeling of crying the feeling of an understanding hitting you and then washing over you only for the next wave to hit again. Idk it’s really good. Ugh and the high notes going into the citadel theme fading out ow ow.
004- The cottage
Im gonna cry for a different reason. Ugh I love this story with my whole heart. This is pluckier than I remember. The violin? Being all smooth paired with the plucky sounds ahhhhh im gonna cry. Oh it’s short
005-Pigsfoot Pizzicato Traditional
Oh hi I know you! 0.40 whoah there is a new guy in here matching the normal sounds. This sounds like little ame learning to be a witch and tripping over it. Like a kid playing music.
006-Grandma Wren
Is this whole soundtrack gonna make me want to cry? Am I bad at music is part of this the cottage rhythm very slow. Im gonna cry. the end of a beautiful life. Bro the single violin is messed up get me out of here ow. I need to tell my parents I love them rn.
007-March of the Young Bear of the Woods
Woah weirdly slow and lonely for a while but I’m not mad. Oh but we can hear them in the distance. The heavy footsteps are great. Ugh so good. And them the classic. I love humanity so i don’t want to be a eternal child of the great bear but maybe I do. Oh big change. Honestly kinda sounds like my audio breaking I wish it was one percent smoother. And then we build back up. Humans vocalizating like that is so cool every time.
008- The door of Ivy
Nooo we are sad. Ahhh idk what that looping sound is but it’s so so so good. So magic. And the getting louder angel vocals ahhhh. Oh they go on for a while that’s kinda surprising tbh. Oh 3:00 different angel vocals interesting.
009-Dreams of Honor
Immediately had to pause because I apparently have a lot of emotion tied to those opening notes. I love eursulon that’s my son. Ahhhhhhh and then the motif at 0.40 seconds ow ow ow ow. And then I got distracted thinking about little baby eursulon who dreams of honor and is gonna lose everything. The build and reset of the sounds around 2:37 reminds me of what i was projecting for Suvi in soft and stone. I listened to the children’s adventure to recently for this. Ah and then the flute? :( ow ow. Why is the citadel theme playing what. tbh it might be a Suvi theme but still. Ugh the long final note of the citadel going into the honor theme is crazy.
Has Taylor Moore slept in the last three years is he good.
010- March of the Heros of the Azure Battalion
TURN IT UP. THIS IS SO GOOD RAHHHH. I think I just really like horns and drums.
011-march of the wizened scholars of the citadel.
I feel like if you call yourself a wizened scholar your gonna get disrespected hard. Oh it’s the same thing but with like a bell. Oh I wanted to be mean cause name but tragically this is incredible. I know this one. The bell is very interesting tho. Ik they super evil and all that but god the citadel is really cool. They made it so prettyyyyyyy. How do you make music sound curious and grand and structured that’s wild. This is a sound ive heard so much that it’s just really comforting. I think the bell is new tho.
012- the Wizard in light
pretty sounds and little motif love it. OW OW OW. Ugh 0.44 ow. The notes coming in hurt. What even is this. Is this Suvi? Whatever this motif is it lives right next to my heart and I know it very well. I want to give someone a hug?
013- on the hunt
Oh I know this. Fun mix of spooky and cheerful. This show is so good. I can even tell you where I know this from but I love it. I suspect it’s been hidden in many places cause it feels deeply familiar. We are on a little sneaky mission. Very the fox?
014-hilltop
beautiful. That piano motif causes me pain and I wish I knew why. I feel like it’s raining. why are we sad. 2.48 that piano hurts. The woodwind is nice but also not helping with the sad. Ahhhh no it just did the sad eursulon sound? Maybe? this is messed up. Make my kids happy. Oh the piano feel away. I could be losing but I swear the woodwind plays “ rain rides to the seaaaa” right at the end. I also have extremely untrained ears.
015- Happy Hunting
Yeah this guy. It’s the plucky of the cottage but with some of the running of the hunt. Extremely classic wbn sound right here. I love this show. Oh idk how to describe but the sound gets like cleaner and more open. I love this show. Really familiar sounds going on. OH 2.50 I KNOW YOU. I KNOW THIS SOUND ugh it’s so good. 3.45 oh we got fast we are excited.
Can’t believe this is 157 songs long I was fully expecting like 20 max does Taylor Moore like sleep. To be clear they all are incredible. Anyway I love this show and this story.
was not expecting it to start like that but zero complaints from me and definitely sets the tone
love the dishwasher bit and pretty much everything that comes out of xlzls mouth they are so earnest and funny and delightful.
lou always does a really good spoiled but deeply nuanced character so that’s really exciting and from what i’ve seen there’s good synergy with xlzl there.
interested to see the full group interactions and see how erika fits in there.
Also sooooo excited to do art for this campaign everyone’s so hot and mood ring plastic skin will be such a fun nightmare
trying to figure out what it is in twtwatwo that makes me loose my mind constantly
and i think it’s the i love you but the world wants me to hate you. i’m supposed to be there with them but i won’t let you walk alone. knowing you has made the world wider and more beautiful but it hurts too because i can’t choose the easy thing anymore. i want to be here with you because what’s important to you is important to me but look at you and see family they don’t. and they’ll accept me but not you. and that’s every character. that’s suvi seeing how the citadel treats spirits. that’s eursulon turning around on his way to his sister to help suvi. it’s ame being the only witch to stand against war for the citadel.
