she’s stopped in her tracks by the smaller figure, a bitter expression growing softer in nearly an instant. ❛ 𝐨𝐡..! ❜ she finds his excitement, in tandem with his efforts at a look at the flower, to be endearing. that he was able to spot the bloom at all was impressive. ❛ 𝐬𝐮𝐫𝐞. ❜ she responds. then, taking it from her hair, she crouches next to the boy, displaying it to him. holding gently at it’s stem between two fingers.
she's silent, and for a moment her eyes move back and forth, between the boy and the flower. contemplating... then, hesitantly, she speaks again. ❛ 𝐝𝐨 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐰𝐚𝐧𝐭 𝐭𝐨 𝐡𝐨𝐥𝐝 𝐢𝐭? ❜

Warm hazel gaze lingered on the beautiful blossom placed within strands of frosty hair.
"Wow, I've never seen such a pretty flower before" Lips curved and then her attention focused on the woman herself.
"It suits you. -"
there is an unnerving feeling that comes with someone looking past you. kainé has felt it many times before. it's a tactic others used against her when she was young and fragile. to hurt her without a word. they'd hold their noses high, treating her as though she were less than a bug... less than dirt. it used to make her feel small. now, being older and wielding a far thicker skin, all she felt was annoyed.
annoyance in kainé had a habit of quickly revealing itself through anger. she planned to walk away before this happened. causing a scene over someone like that is a waste of energy. that is until, at last, the woman spoke. it was unexpected to say the least, and what was boiling into anger inside her was now fizzling down to confusion.
the flower...? a hand instinctively raises, touching gently over the petals. she's fighting the heat of embarrassment that begins to reveal itself upon her cheeks, however, the compliment from the women does little to help ❛ 𝐨𝐡. ❜ she responds, before quickly realizing that's hardly a response at all. the ❛ 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐧𝐤𝐬. ❜ that follows is hardly any better, nor believable. ❛ 𝐢𝐭'𝐬 𝐚 𝐥𝐮𝐧𝐚𝐫 𝐭𝐞𝐚𝐫. ❜ she continues, hesitantly. ❛ 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐲'𝐫𝐞 𝐥𝐞𝐠𝐞𝐧𝐝𝐚𝐫𝐲 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐢𝐫 𝐛𝐞𝐚𝐮𝐭𝐲. 𝐬𝐨𝐦𝐞 𝐩𝐞𝐨𝐩𝐥𝐞 𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐧 𝐬𝐚𝐲 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐲 𝐜𝐚𝐧 𝐦𝐚𝐤𝐞 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐫𝐢𝐜𝐡, 𝐨𝐫 𝐠𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐭 𝐰𝐢𝐬𝐡𝐞𝐬, 𝐨𝐫 𝐬𝐨𝐦𝐞 𝐬𝐡𝐢𝐭... ❜ she pauses, shaking her head.
