it’s unbelievable, to allie, that a place so special to allie, could be just as special as serena. it’s the greatest gift, that she’s even here at all, but an even more precious treasure that allie can bury into her and know that she’s just as happy. allie’s giddiness explodes in rose colored flourishes. pinks and greens and lavenders, soft as satin blue. like spring, bathed in baby’s breath. she’s so happy, so soft that she can barely breathe. the fairy’s flowers might as well be blooming where the love stars and stuffing her lungs full, impossibly giddy. allie can hardly stop giggling, but she knows that when she falls, tips into serena’s lap, she’ll let her. everyone needs someone to look after them, and allie’s happy to do that with serena. nobody pays close enough attention to her, allie thinks, they’re all distracted by the stage lights. as bright and sparkling as serena is, a white diamond star- she’s delicate. and just as much as serena needs her, allie needs her more. to catch when she falls and spins out- twirling, twirling, twirling herself into a love-sick, escapist frenzy. with serena, she’s always home. with serena, she never wants to leave.
this is their little sugar plum dream world, isn’t it? allie says i love you, and she never fears that it’s going to be taken away from her. allie says i love you, and, in her dreams, someone loves her back. serena loves her back.
allie is draped across serena’s lap now, sunkissed freckles contrasting a ballerina body- but allie’s more paying attention to how serena feels in her arms as she scoots across her thighs, resting her torso against serena’s. here, it’s steady, and safe. the cottage has never felt like this. obsessive, allie curls into this beautiful little world where she is safe and loved and- serena says thank you. because allie is good. still, she doesn’t need to be thanked. allie giggles, a peal of melodic little bells. thank her for breathing? for caring? so silly, serena. “ you don’t have to thank me, silly. i’m so glad you’re here, you- you have no idea … ” serena’s never had to meet the girl that allie is without her to keep her grounded, and she never will. “ i’m no good on my own, without you. ” -to take care of. maybe, but, more than that- she needs serena. allie presses a kiss to her temple. “ are you hungry, yet? i know it takes a bit, for you. ”
