caregiver aj campos | you fall asleep while waiting for her to get home
imagine her coming home from work in the evening, seeing you curled up on the couch after waiting for her and dozing off
she comes up to you, pressing a gentle kiss to your head. you stir in your sleep and grabbed her hand immediately, not wanting to let go
she chuckles, “i’m home, honey.” you whined, blinking as you looked up at her sleepily. aj smiles widely, hand cupping your face and stroking your cheek. “hi, baby.”
still refusing to let go of her hand, she takes the hint and settled down next to you. she pulls you onto her lap. “you okay?” aj asked, her gaze worried.
you wrapped your arms around her, face buried in her neck, sniffling as your lips wobbled. aj rubbed your back, repeating softly, “it’s okay. you’re alright, baby. i got you, i got you. hm? mama’s here.”
you smiled a little while later, the crying stopped. “did you drink water, my love?” “i did.” you broke away from the embrace and pointed to a half-empty sippy cup on the coffee table. “you did! good job,” her smile was soft, and warm. just like her hugs. you loved them.
“you wanna eat, baby?”
“no, mama.” you muttered, “…’m seepy.” the soothing motions of aj’s palm on your back never ceased.
“okay.” she whispered, “let’s go sleepytime.” aj picked you up, one hand holding your back and the other under your knees.
carefully, she puts you down on the bed and pulled the blanket up. aj then switched on your favourite night light and handed you your favourite stuffed animal.
“…thank you mama.” you grinned, fighting a yawn as you rubbed your eyes, your beloved pink teddy bear in your arm. “huggy?”
aj swiftly got in bed next to you, and held you close to herself, secure in her arms. “always.”
you nuzzled closer, “…i love you.”
aj smiled to herself, smothering your face with kisses, you giggled. “it tickles!” you pouted. “sweet dreams, my little one.” aj smiled, nuzzling her nose with yours. “i love you more.”
I love little Janis, she’s too cute. So, here you go. Enjoy :3

Once the lecturer dismissed the class, you made the beeline for the exit, excited to go home to your girlfriend. You’d been texting with her throughout the day after she texted you first: a random string of emojis after the very first ‘Hiiiii’. She was regressed, and if anything you were more excited to see her. She was painfully adorable when little, you had to refrain from squeezing her out of pure adoration. You took the subway home, and it was on time so you were happy about that. So, you got home in no time. Stepping into your cozy West Village one-bedroom apartment, you’d barely gotten your shoes and socks off before you heard the sound of someone running and someone tackling you in a hug.
It was Janis.
“Hiiiii.” Her arms were wrapped around you as she looked up at you with what possibly was the biggest smile on her face.
You chuckled, “Hi, baby~” At her feet was an orange tabby cat that Janis had very aptly and insistently named Cheeto. She bent down to pick up the cat, “Cheeto says hi too.” Janis chuckled, the cat just stared at you unbothered. “Hi, Cheeto.” You said anyway before she put the cat back down. “Soooo what’d you get up to while I was at school?”
“I played with Cheeto and watched TV.” She grinned.
You squinted, “DId you eat?”
Janis nodded, “Mhm. Cheerios.”
“I hope with milk.” You chuckled, messing with her hair.
She laughed, “Yeah, silly.”
You kissed the top of her head, “I’m gonna make us some dinner, you wanna join me?” Janis nodded eagerly, you took her hand and walked over to the kitchen with her. “Do you want mac and cheese?”
She shook her, “Uh-uh.”
“Grilled cheese?”
“No. I don’t want that.” She said, “Can I have grapes? Pleaseeee?”
“Sure.” You laughed lightly, opening up the fridge, “Aaaand we have no grapes.”
“Aw.” She sulked.
“That’s okay, we can go out and buy some from the store around the corner.” You told her, “Are you hungry yet?”
“Nope.”
“Alrighty, shoes on and let’s go.”
She squealed a little, rushing to go put on her sneakers. You helped her tie the laces, then you both headed out for a brief walk down the block for the bodega. She held onto your hand just like you told her to. “Did you have fun today with Cheeto?”
“I did.” She chuckled, “I miss you, though.”
“Aw.” You cooed, pressing a kiss to her head. Janis giggled, “Are we just getting grapes?”
“Why do you ask?”
“Can I get candy toooo?”
“We have plenty at home.” You reminded her.
“I want Twixxxxx.” She replied dramatically.
“Since when do you like—”
Janis shrugged, “I just wanna eat it.”
“If they have it, we’ll buy one, okay?”
Janis chuckled, “Okay.”
You pushed the door open and the bell above it jingled, “Hi, señora.” You greeted. “Hello.” She smiled, “Hi, Janis.”
“Hiii.”
“Let’s go get the grapes.” You still held onto her hand, heading towards where the fruits were, “Don’t run off.” She chuckled, giving you doe eyes. “Don’t give me that look.” You reminded, “I’m serious.”
And she just kept looking at you.
“I’m going to put you on a leash, I swear.”
“Aw.” Janis sulked.
“Stop it.” You bit back a laugh.
“nO.” She shot back.
You gasped, “Janis. You ran off from me in Target get last week, that’s dangerous.”
“Janis.” She mocked.
“Help me look for the grapes.” You sighed.
Janis eagerly searched for the grapes and grabbed a box, “Hereeee.”
“Thank you, baby.” You took a peek at the fruit in the clear carton as you took it from her. Walking towards the checkout, Janis was staring at the snack and candy shelf as she walked. But she didn’t ask for anything. You couldn’t help but smile at that, “You wanna take a look at the snacks?”
Janis gasped, “Can I?”
“Sure, baby.” You agreed, walking over to the shelf with her. You let her get the Twix and a new packet of Goldfish crackers. She thanked you happily then both of you went to pay. Janis kept quiet in front of the cashier, not wanting her or anyone else to know that she was regressed at the moment. She didn’t want any judgement.
“Have a good one.”
“Thanks, Elena.” You took the plastic bag from the lady and left with Janis.
Once home, you made sure Janis washed her hands. You did the same then got started on dinner. “Are you sure you just want fruit? How about a sandwich?”
“Noooooooo. No sandwich.” She pouted.
“Crackers?”
She shook her head.
“Yogurt?”
Again.
“Yogurt pouch?” You asked hopefully.
“Okay!” She finally agreed. You grabbed her divider plate from the cupboard, a yogurt pouch from the fridge then put in one of the sections. Setting the plate on the counter, you washed some of the newly bought grapes and put a whole bunch of them on her plate— in the main section. Turning back around to the pantry, you poured a small packet of Goldfish into the last section.
“Sit down, baby. Here you go.” You gestured for her to sit at the table.
“Thank youuuu~ will you eat with me?”
“Yes, sweetie.” You told her, “Let me just boil some water for my cup noodles then I’ll be right there, kay?”
“kay!”
Once you had made your own food, you brought it over to the living room so you could sit with Janis. “Hi, baby. What are we watching?”
“Nothing.” She sighed heavily. You squinted, confused about the sudden change in her mood. You were literally watching her while you boiled your noodles in the kitchen. How did you not notice what made her upset?
You two ate in silence for a bit. Then you decided to ask, “What’s the matter, sweetie?”
“I don’t know.” She said back, holding the straw piece of the yogurt pouch between her teeth. You leaned forward to catch her gaze, setting down your cup noodles on the coffee table.
“Baby, talk to me. It’s okay.”
“Do you not like the food?” You continued.
“I do.” She mumbled.
“Are you not feeling well?” You naturally rubbed her back.
“No.”
“Are you sad?”
“I dunno.” She said again, seeming a little frustrated but she also cracked a smile she thought was too subtle to be noticed. You did though.
“What are you?” You joked.
“I dunno.” She was still sulking, but you could tell she wasn’t actually upset anymore.
“Oh.” You chuckled, “You’re Janis, silly.”
“No!” Janis pouted, the yogurt pouch falling out of her mouth. She grabbed it just in time and put it on her plate, fuzzy blanket draped over her shoulders and now her head too.
“No?” She looked at her in the eye.
“I’m your baby!”
“No, you’re Janis.” You laughed lightly, palm still on her back.
“I’m your babieeeee!!!’” She continued dramatically, leaning onto you, tears were seconds away.
“Oh?” A grin formed on your face.
She nodded, looking at you with teary eyes and her lips jutted out. “I’m your babie.” Your heart always melted at the sight, you’d never be immune to her cuteness. Wrapping both arms around her, you peppered her face with kisses, making her squeal and giggle. Fortunately, Janis told you she was feeling better now and thanked you— for making her laugh. The rest of dinner went by quietly. You threw out the empty noodle cup then washed up the fork you used and Janis’ dinnerware.
Janis dragged you back to the couch awhile later and both of you did some colouring then fixed some puzzles. After helping her with a bath, you took a shower on your own while she played with her toys in the room. “Why are you taking soooo longggg.” You heard her complain on the other side of the door.
“Baby, it’s been ten minutes.” You couldn’t hold in your laughter.
“LONGGGG.”
“You’re such a drama queen.” You let out an exhale in amusement.
“No, I’m notttt. I’m your babie.” She corrected you.
“Sure you are.”
Eventually, you were out of the shower and Janis was the happiest person alive. “Hehehe. Hiiii.”
“Hey.” You walked up to her and pecked her cheek. Then you squinted, “What’d you do?”
“Nothing.” She giggled, “I drew you this, hehe.” She proudly showed you the page in the colouring book that she’d coloured in for you while you were in the shower.
“Aw, thank you, baby.” You pet her head tenderly, “I love it.”
“You’re welcomeeee.”
Then, you two just snuggled in bed while she talked. Yeah, she talked, and you just mostly listened. About an hour passed, almost two hours after dinner. “Do you want a snack?”
“No.”
“You’re not hungry, baby?”
“No.”
“Candy?”
“No.”
Man, did she have a favourite word.
“Bluey?”
She kept quiet.
“Bluey it is.” You squished her cheek. She kept pouting. “I’m still making you a sandwich, though.” You declared, “I’ll let you have some TV time if you eat a proper meal before we go to bed.”
“Fineeee.” She groaned.
“Drama queen.” You joked while grabbing the remote and clicking the TV on, then put on Bluey for her.
She stuck her tongue out at you right as you headed for the kitchen again. You made her a peanut butter sandwich and gave her some grapes and apple slices on the side. Of course, some water in her favourite cup too. You even threw some Cheerios on the plate just because. In the distance, you hear the theme tune playing. You finished making her plate then went back inside, also holding a yogurt bowl for yourself.
“Here you go, honey.”
She was barely paying attention to you. “Thank you.” She said politely when you put the plate in front of her, she grabbed the sandwich and took a bite out of it while taking a look at you. “Water’s over there, okay?” You pointed to the nightstand on her side.
“Okay.” She replied, mouth full with the sandwich she was chewing, eyes glued to the TV screen.
When Janis was sleepy, she tended to get quiet. A lot quieter than usual. And since that was happening right now, you took note of it and reminded her to brush her teeth after she was done eating. “I”m not seeepyyyyy.” Janis giggled.
“Oh, I think you are, baby.” You disagreed, scooting closer to her and taking her Bingo plush out of her reach.
“Heeeey.” She gasped.
“We’re going to bed soon.”
“Uh-uh, still eating.”
“After you eat, thirty minutes then it’s time to brush your teeth.”
“No.”
Aaand, the pout was back. Or well, the sulking, whichever it was…she knew she was cute and using that fact to her advantage. And before you knew it, she was crying. You knew she was faking it, though. She does this quite a bit. “Heeey. Why are you laughing?”
“Why are you crying?” Your eyes went wide for a moment.
“You made me cry.” She blubbered, “So rude.”
“I did not.”
“Do you see any other people here?” She sniffed, “No. Is just me and you.”
Yeah, no one was allowed to touch her Bingo plush except her. Sometimes you could, if she let you. Even though well…you bought it for her. If it was for her, it was hers and hers only. That was the only thing she didn’t like to share.
You put the plush dog back next to her. “I’m sorry.” You shouldn’t have been messing with her. She burst out laughing, “It’s okay.”
“Huh.” You squinted at her as a playful warning. You noticed most of her food was finished, “You done with your food?” She nodded and you said, “I think you need a tickle attack.”
Janis gasped, jumping out of bed and bolting out of the room. She was using Bingo as a shield. “Nooooooo.”
You caught pretty fast, it was a small apartment. You tickled her to make her laugh a little, that was it. You weren’t going to keep doing that, even though her laughter sounded like music to your ears. She slipped past you and you didn’t notice, you settled back down in bed calling out for her, “Janis, get your butt back here.” You heard her snickering— it was coming from the bathroom. “Janis, c’mon.”
She appeared in the bathroom doorway seconds later and walked back to you slowly, she mischievous grin was on her face, so you were waiting to see what she was going to do. Janis stood in front of you, raising her butt in your face. You quickly pulled her onto your lap, trying not to die of laughter. As you smothered her with kisses on her cheek, she said, “My butt’s back here.”
“Yeah, sure is. God, you’re so cute.”
She turned around, legs bracketing your hips then held your face in her hands. Your cheeks were squished, causing your lips to be puckered. “Hi~”
“Hi, you.” You scrunched up your nose and booped hers with your finger. Janis then giggled and shook your head with her hands. You laughed heartily, “Baby, you’re so silly.” Janis let go of your face, then poked your cheeks on both sides. “No idea what you’re doing but you’re adorable so you get a pass.” You remarked, “Do I get a kiss?”
Janis nodded, a small, slightly shy smile tugging at her lips. She happily kissed you on the cheek. “I could just— squish you.” You made a face, she found it hilarious. “You can try.” SHe snickered. “I can?” You gasped, playing along, “Don’t mind if I do.”
You did to her what she did to you, hands on either side of her face, squishing her cheeks, “You look like a fish.”
She grinned then laughed, “Oh.”
You smiled back, “Should we get ready for bed? I think Bingo wants to brush her teethies.”
“Okay.”
“Okay, let’s do it. C’mon. Then some more snuggles.”
“Snuggles?!”
“Yep.” You held her face by the chin for a second then let go, taking her hand in your own and leading her to the bathroom. After washing up, you and Janis changed into pyjamas and crawled under the covers. She automatically snuggled up next to you, “Night night.”
How is it possible for someone to be this cute?
She looked up at you, sleepy. Her hair was slightly messy. She was so comfortable with you- that’s what you found endearing. “Sweet dreams, baby.” You hugged her tight and kissed the crown of her head, then it was like she melted into your touch. And honestly, your heart melted too. “I love you.”
