love whumpees who are like...feral alley cats. little bastards. scared, touch-starved gremlins who had their trust in humanity broken one too many times. absolute menaces to society who bite and promptly flinch back, expecting to be hit.
There's just something about tender head and shoulders touches from a caretaker.
Cradling the whumpee's face in their hands
Thumbing their cheekbone
Tipping their chin up
Carding a hand through their hair
Palm against a pulse point
Cupping the back of their neck
Supporting the back of their head
Honestly just resting a hand on the crown of their head
Squeezing/massaging their shoulders
I just. 💖
“keep breathing”
“take a deep breath”
“you’re holding your breath”
“don’t hold your breath”
“breathe. that’s it. breathe.”
there’s something SO whumpy about these phrases
ways to ask about it.
"You don't talk about it."
"Will you tell me?"
"Some people never want to share. That could just be what it's like for you."
"It's not, like, toxic sludge. It's not 'share what happened or die'. But it might help."
"There's something you're carrying, and I think it hurts you."
"I'd believe you, you know. If you told me."
"When you are ready to tell me, I will be ready to listen."
"Do you want to talk about it?"
"Was it bad?"
"What's rattling around up there?"
"You obviously don't trust me enough."
"You want me to ask? Fine. What happened to you? What made you walk away back there? What did you never bother to tell me?"
"What did they/he/she do to you?"
"What did they take?"
"You know I'm on your side."
"Did he/she/they hurt you?"
"Did he/she/they attack you?"
"Do you feel safe when they're here?"
"You look uncomfortable."
"Tell me."
"I care."
ways to respond when someone says, "I'm okay."
this is a rp meme it's for roleplay purposes please feel free to reblog it & use it for that purpose, it's what it was made for!
"[Name]."
"[Name.]" (gently)
"I mean it. I want to know."
"I'm worried about you."
"Are you hurt?"
"What happened?"
"Do you need me to come home?"
"Have you eaten anything?"
"That's probably true, but let's get you checked over anyway, alright?"
"I believe you. Let me help, anyway?"
"The shower's running."
"Well, I'm not."
"I miss you."
"Don't."
"I don't believe you."
"I know."
"Will you stay with me?"
"Is that true?"
"That really scared me."
"You're crying."
"You're bleeding."
"Don't move yet."
"It looked bad."
"I brought you some water."
"I called your work to tell them you weren't coming in."
"Let's stay home today."
Noticing Trauma sentence starters
Feel free to alter dialogue to suit your muse!
“That really spooked you.”
“I don’t want to pry, but.. I want you to know I also want to listen, if you want someone to talk to.”
“Well, pretend I’m not here. What would you say if nobody could hear it?”
“Does this happen a lot?”
“Hey, what happened between you two?”
“When is the last time you ate?”
“Is this okay?”
“Hey.”
“This is the third meal you’ve missed this week, are you okay?”
“[Name]?”
“What did he/she/they do?”
“This … hurts you.”
“You don’t feel safe, here.”
“When you look at [trigger], you… what is that?”
“What can I do?”
“You were crying in your sleep.”
“What do you dream about?”
“Whenever you get stressed, you do this thing with your hands. What is it?”
“You’re right, I don’t understand, yet. Will you help me?”
“Should I leave a light on for you?”
“I brought you some water.”
“I won’t judge you.”
“It doesn’t have anything to do with trust. You don’t have to tell me. But I’ll listen, if you do.”
“Count your breaths with me, okay? Ready? One, two, three, four…”
“I’m here.”
“Talk to me.”
“You don’t need to tell me everything. I just want to know how I can help.”
“Let me hold your hair back, at least.”
“You used to love that [item].”
Dissociation Starters
FROM THE EMPTY
“No… I’m not hurt.”
“I don’t…”
“… Sorry. Say that again?”
“Sometimes I just … do this. It’s fine.”
“No, it’s bad, but I’m. Like. I’m fine. Just give me like, ten minutes.”
“I don’t - I don’t remember.”
“You waited how long?”
“… I don’t like [trigger].”
“Will you walk me home?”
“I love you, I just… I can’t… I’m dissociating.”
“I.. don’t know how I got here.”
“I didn’t feel that. At all.”
“Did I zone out?”
“Don’t touch me.”
“My name is [name]. I’m [age]. I live in [place]. My name is [name] -”
“I can’t think of anything to do that isn’t stupid, canyouhelpme?”
“How did you find me?”
“I think I’m in [different State]. Will you come?”
FROM THE FULL
“Hey. [Name]? Look at me.”
“I’m right here.”
“How long have you been sitting here?”
“What happened?”
“Your shirt is on backwards.”
“Is it okay if I touch you?”
“It’s windy today. This bench has a nice texture, don’t you think?”
“Do you mind if I sit with you?”
“Okay, I’ll be here.”
“Hey - come in. Don’t worry about it. I’m glad you came.”
“Drink some water. It has ice.”
“I’ll run a shower.”
“Let me wash it for you.”
“I can’t clean you up if I can’t touch you. Will you give me your hand?”
“We’ll ride it out. You’re safe here.”
“I’ll put on a movie.”
choking on blood is top tier
caretaker wiping blood from whumpee’s lips
maybe even turning whumpee over on their side so they can breathe easier
whumpee’s breaths whistling through the blood in their lungs
coughing up blood. bonus points if they cough it onto caretaker, then weakly apologize for it.
grasping at their throat, at their chest, straining to breathe
caretaker thumping them on the back to try and help things along
what if the blood occurs out of nowhere? whumpee is just talking, and suddenly, oh no. something’s wrong. they look up at caretaker with blood dribbling from their mouth. (this happened to my buddy evan buckley…)
in the mood for some comfort/caretaker prompts!
Whumpee, after losing their voice, only has to give Caretaker a look for any reason. Caretaker knows them well enough to understand
Playing. With. Whumpee's. Hair.
In that same vein, Caretaker holding their head up by lacing fingers behind their neck, using thumbs in front of their ears to hold them steady
That moment where Caretaker thinks Whumpee was in danger, and they're safe, so CT crushes them in a hug. Followed by a classic "Don't you dare pull that stunt ever again."
Normally composed passive aggressive caretaker getting in Whumper's face with a vitriolic "I will rip you apart piece by piece if you ever lay a hand on them again."
Caretaker physically shielding Whumpee at any possible threat, even if they're more than likely safe. Caretaker who is unable to consider losing Whumpee even for a second
Caretaker-turned-whumpee talking Whumpee through how to take care of CT's wounds
Caretaker turned whumpee curling up in a friend's arms, unused to being comforted and taken aback by how sweet it feels
Caretaker-turned-whumpee period actually
Caretaker who protects Whumpee even when absent. Telling off other people who try to visit. Guarding the hospital room door like an attack dog
Whumpee taking Caretaker in their arms to whisper "I'm okay. Calm down, please, I'm right here, I promise."
a lot of them perhaps but I've just got caretakers on the brain these days SO i hope you enjoy :>

⁹⁾ climbing into the bath/shower with them, more for the physical comfort than practicality
¹⁰⁾ “i wish the first time you saw me like this could’ve been under better circumstances.”
¹¹⁾ stripping down to the same level of undress as them in an effort to try and make them feel more comfortable
¹²⁾ “can we- can we just stay here, like this, for a minute? please?”

List of “sweet and intimate actions which make me go feral and have me folding like a folding chair” prompts
Character B carding their fingers through Character A’s hair and playing with the strands.
Character B peeling back the neck of Character A’s turtle neck sweater to trail gentle kisses down their neck. (This!! It is so hot, and it's everything I didn't know I needed until now, and I cannot stop thinking about it wlkfnlkwe)
Character B placing their arm around Character A’s waist while in public, resting their chin on Character A’s shoulder. “Hello,” they say in a teasing tone as Character A tries to grab ahold of their hand to keep it there but fails a few times before successfully doing so.
Leaning against each other while in public.
Spooning and back hugs.
Character B letting Character A rest their head on their chest; lets them listen to their heart beat.
Character B whispering sweet nothings into Character A’s ear.
Character B checking in on Character A to make sure they’re comfortable and okay with the way things are going; to make sure they’re not being too much. “You’re not,” Character A would reassure, repositioning themselves to get closer to Character B.
Just cuddles and snuggles in general.
Neck kisses.
Kisses littered all over the face. (!!! It's one thing to read about it and one thing to experience it wlejbfewljn)
Character B tucking Character A’s head under their chin while they’re cuddling.
Character B nuzzling their neck and breathing in Character A’s scent/fragrance, and commenting on how nice they smell.
Character B making sure Character A gets home safe by driving them home.
Character A telling Character B to message them when they get back home safe, and once Character B gets home, they follow through by sending a message to let Character A know they’ve gotten back home safe.
Taking naps together, from day till night, waking up every now and then to get more snuggles in.
That soft exhalation of adoring laughter leaving Character B’s mouth after kissing Character A (this shit had me folding so fucking hard it’s not even funny. I Am Weak).
That soft exhalation of laughter once again just because Character B is so content with having Character A in their presence, and Character A just basking in how cute that sound is and how happy it makes them.
Character B entangling their legs with Character A’s, pressing their bodies flush against each other’s, leaving little to no space between them. (It’s almost like they can’t get enough of Character A.)
Kissing so many times, to the point where they lose track of how many times they’ve kissed already.
Holding hands and lacing their fingers together while they’re cuddling.
Comparing hand sizes and giggling about it together.
Character B stroking Character A’s hair while they’re asleep. (Or uh, pretends to be asleep DJSKKSKDSK but it’s so FUCKING CUTE WHEN HE DID THAT IM GONNA SCREAM, me thinking moments like these only happen in Korean dramas or some shit anfkakfksk-)
The sweet little banters in between; Character B being all cheesy and Character A playfully deflecting their comments only for Character B to playfully push back with an “Is something wrong with that?” or “But I’m not lying.”
Falling asleep in each other’s arms, both not wanting to leave the bed for the entire day and wanting to stay comfortably snuggled up against each other instead.
Character B placing their hands on Character A’s shoulders, and Character A, with a grin on their face, gently grabs Character B’s hands and wraps their arms around their neck while leaning back into them. Character B reciprocates by hugging them closer to them.
The soft noises of content Character A makes when they snuggle closer to Character B, or when they want Character B to hold them closer to them, with Character B happily obliging.
Character B rubbing their cheek against Character A’s.
Character B trying to not wake Character A up because they look so comfortable when sleeping. (His words, not mine.)
Soft, repeated pecks on the lips, causing Character A to laugh/smile against Character B’s lips.

Love your writing! Can I request a hero that likes being controlled by the villain because they get relief from their anxiety/stressful life but they are denying it because they don’t want to admit to being overwhelmed?
"Oh god, you're back."
The villain smirked at that particular greeting and inclined their head in acknowledgement. "Long time no see, hero mine."
Anticipation had the hero's heart drumming double time. They shifted their weight, hold tightening on the battered strap of their rucksack. The street was empty, all curtains conspicuously drawn, but there was nothing actually blocking any exits. They could run. They weren't far from home. They might even make it.
"It's okay," the villain said, tucking their hands into their pockets. "You can try, I won't be offended. I know you prefer pretending that you don't like this. That you don't crave this."
"I don't."
"No?" The villain's tone was soft, but their eyes gleamed in the glow of the lampposts. Their gaze was somewhere between gently mocking and not so gently fond. "You're lucky you lie so pretty. It means I'll let you off with a warning. Just the one, because I've heard you've had a rough week."
The hero swallowed.
The week had been exhausting. Atlas would have buckled beneath the weight of the last week too. Anyone would. Wouldn't they? Maybe that was why, beneath the panic of seeing the villain again, there was a much more terrifying chasm of relief. Dizzy, desperate relief. The kind of longing that left a person brained by it. Dumb.
"You heard about that?" the hero asked, in a small voice, even if it was entirely not the point.
"I'm here, aren't I?"
The hero shuddered, to hear the villain say it so bluntly. Maybe if they hadn't, the hero could pretend - what? That somewhere along the way monstrosity and miracle had blurred together like wet watercolours?
"You could walk away," the hero said.
"I could," the villain agreed, placidly. They didn't move though.
"Would you if I asked you to?"
The villain's head tilted, considering the hero at that.
"Mm, I don't think so," they decided eventually. "Then you'd feel like you had to ask. It goes better when you don't have any choice in this matter, doesn't it?"
"You can't just - you can't say that."
"No?" the villain's lip curled up again. They closed the gap between them, casually confident. "You asked."
"Well, yes - but." The hero didn't have a good way to finish the sentence. Mainly because they should have been horrified. They were horrified! It was only..."You're not supposed to say it." The crack in their voice felt far too much like confession. "It's not right."
"Yeah. I'd say you should stop feeling so guilty about liking it so much, but honestly it's entirely too delicious watching you squirm."
The hero made a choked, incoherent sound in their throat. They took a step back, not remotely surprised when the villain's hand snaked eel-fast around their back.
"Ah, ah," the villain said. "You already had your chance to run. Go easy."
The hero felt the very moment that something switched in the villain's voice, their powers humming a siren song in the hero's bones. They felt their body turn to putty as they blinked at the villain, wide-eyed. Their hands settled comfortably on the villain's chest, not pushing back.
It wasn't...it wasn't exactly that their brain switched off, only that everything in them suddenly refused to fully recognise the danger. And there was danger, they knew that, but...
But for the first time since they'd last seen the villain, the knot in their chest loosened. They didn't feel one small straw or loud noise or well-meaning question away from bursting pitifully into tears.
"Good," the villain murmured. "Just like that. There you are. Deep breaths."
Up close, the villain took a moment to study them properly. The hero let them look. Minutes ago, they might have tried to hide, ashamed by the blatant dark circles under their eyes, by everything that the villain would see, but in that second...
The villain's lips thinned a fraction. "I've been away on business for too long, haven't I? Sorry about that."
"How was business?"
The villain didn't bother answering that question, more concerned with grazing their thumb along the swell of the hero's lip where they'd bitten it raw. Their eyes darkened further.
"You look annoyed," the hero said.
"You could have called me, you know."
"Why would I do that?"
"Why would you-" For a second, it seemed like the villain might say something. Then, they simply sighed, and shook their head, muttering something under their breath. They pivoted, so they were at the hero's side instead, snagging the hero's heavy bag onto their own shoulders.
"Walk." The command hummed through the villain's voice again. "I think we've both had enough of your idiot brain for today. You're done for the week."
Every time the villain let them go, it was harder to force themselves to leave.
I’ve been captivated by his wounded animal swag, and tendency to react to well intentioned kindness with fearful aggression
Okay so I recently went through a break-up so I'm a thirsty gay guy looking for some content and you're my absolute fav on this app :) Could you (if you wouldn't mind of course) write about a hero who has fallen over heals for a villian with low self-esteem who doesn't realise he isn't all that bad and was forced into this life? Maybe with some cuffs just for the spice😅 Preferably mlm but I'm a sucka for the person who won't stop flustering their crush by over complimenting them😭
"Well," the hero said. "Here we are again."
The villain looked up at the hero, standing over them. His hands were already cuffed behind his back, and, honestly, he was feeling thoroughly dishevelled. It had all happened so fast. He'd lost so fast.
The hero barely had a perfect hair out of place. He hadn't even broken a sweat! It seemed very unfair.
The villain half expected to already hear police sirens in the distance.
"You know," the hero said, hands on his hips. "I'm starting to think your heart isn't in this scary criminal thing."
"What, because I'm crap at it?" The villain wanted to sink into the floor.
"Mm, no. You're very good at it, actually. I think you just don't want to hurt me." The hero flashed them a smile. "Thank you for that, by the way."
The villain looked down at his knees and away from that smile, from his failure. He tugged at the cuffs.
His powers, such as they were, were the explosive kind. He could detonate buildings and the ground where the hero stood with a flick of his hand, obliterating the large majority of his opponents immediately...providing he didn't actually mind obliterating them. Killing them.
He was supposed to be fine with that. Didn't he used to be fine with that? The villain's jaw clenched.
"It's not an insult," the hero said, a little softer. "I don't mean it as an insult. Compassion - kindness - is an admirable quality. You know that, right?"
"Are you taking me in or not?"
"No."
The villain's gaze snapped up, wide-eyed.
The hero crouched down in front of him, putting their faces level.
The villain swallowed. "No?"
"No," the hero said, oh so casual. "Don't think that would do you any good."
"Lunatic asylum, then?"
The hero smiled, faint and crooked and something unreadable. "No."
The villain's brow furrowed. Surely that didn't mean...the hero had never seemed the type to kill. The villain tensed.
"You're remarkable," the hero said. "Smart. Powerful." The small smile grew a fraction. "Gorgeous."
The villain hated the immediate and unstoppable blush that burned their cheeks at that; like each kind word, each terribly sincere piece of flattery was its own bomb going off somewhere in the villain's body. "So you're...keeping me locked in your basement?"
The hero laughed. He sobered a little at the villain's expression.
"No," the hero said. "God, no. I meant -" The hero bit his lip, and the villain's treacherous gaze followed the movement. The hero's eyes brightened. "No," the hero said. He placed a hand over the rabbit-thump of the villain's chest. "I mean that you have a kinder heart than you give yourself credit for. If you'd like to do something else with your life than - this - I would help you. In anyway that I could. I'd like to."
The villain stared at him.
"You're asking me to join you?"
"No," the hero huffed. There was something warm, fond, to his tone. "I mean, you can if you like, you'd be very welcome. But to do something else. Whatever you want."
The villain's head spun. "You don't think I want to do this? I've - do you - you do know who I am?!"
"I know your history, yeah."
"Then you'll know - you'll know that I can't just up and do something else!"
"Why not? You're certainly talented enough to try your hand at reinvention."
"I'm a killer. I am literally made for killing and burning and destroying things!"
"You didn't kill or destroy me."
"And I lost in all of three seconds for the weakness."
The hero considered him at that; his panting, fevered, broken defence.
The villain yanked at the cuffs, desperate to run, to get away from the look on the hero's face. From all of the hero's shining expectations.
"If that was it, you can uncuff me now." It sounded a little too much like please, please, please.
The hero settled back on his haunches, warm hand falling from the villain's chest. "What do you like about your current profession?"
"Are you serious right now?" Absurdly, suddenly, the villain could feel tears pricking his eyes. Frustrated things.
"Perfectly."
"It pays well."
"And that's what matters to you?"
"You've seen me, right?" By all accounts, the villain liked the finer things in life. A nice bespoke suit felt like some small compensation for everything ugly about the rest of them.
"Oh, yes," the hero said. His gaze roamed over the villain again. "Handsome, but not very happy, I don't think."
The villain's face burned all over again. "Stop it."
"Hm?"
"Stop - complimenting me. You're trying to distract me!"
"I can't just be complimenting you?"
"No!"
The loudness of it felt like a confession, and the villain squirmed. He yanked at the cuffs again, hard enough to hurt.
"Easy," the hero said, quieter.
"If you're not going to turn me in, let me go!"
"You really hate me complimenting you that much?"
The villain glared at him, the effect largely no doubt ruined by the distress coming off in waves.
"Huh," the hero said. "Because it's me or-?"
The villain yanked at the cuffs again, even harder. Blood welled up on his wrists. He could feel his breath quickening. He could -
The hero leaned in, and the lock clicked. The cuffs sprang open.
The villain was on his feet in an instant, several large steps between them, poised to bolt completely.
The hero stayed crouched, practically on his knees, hands raised in placating surrender in the air.
The villain gawped.
"Easy," the hero said again. "I'm really not trying to upset you. I didn't mean - I didn't expect that reaction. Are you okay?"
And the villain believed him, which was far worse, because what was he supposed to do with that? What the hell was he supposed to do with the hero's compassion? His smiles, and his compliments as if the villain was in anyway worthy of any of it.
"If you're embarrassed about being flustered," the hero said, "you don't have to be. You look lovely flustered. It's really endearing. I'm not-"
The villain covered his blushing face with his hands. He wanted to claw out of his flustered skin; find some control again, find a way to make the terrifying leaps of his heart settle. To stop hoping. To stop aching for - more.
"Shut up," he hissed.
The hero shut up.
The villain didn't get to have more. Not after everything. He certainly didn't get to have someone like him.
He raised his hands from his face, and waited for the hero to flinch at the threat of it, to betray the underlying horror of what the villain was, to brace himself for death.
The hero did none of those things. He simply continued to track the villain's movements - knowing who he was dealing with, but not afraid. Never afraid.
The villain's hands faltered again.
The world did not erupt in smoke and madness.
"Easy," the hero murmured, a third time. "Can you - can you explain to me why you're upset? So maybe I can help?"
The villain gave an agonised little scoff, and fled.
I love your writing. I can’t help but be amazed by how everything flows so beautifully and your word choice is absolutely inspirational. Could you do a piece where instead of the antagonist being suave and flirtatious and the protagonist being awkward about it, the roles are switched? Thank you so much.
“Not going to take that mask off?” The hero beamed at that the villain, a gleam in their eyes. “I’ve seen your face before, you don’t need to be shy. You have nothing to be ashamed of, gorgeous.”
The villain spluttered and was very glad for that mask because otherwise the blush on their face would have been entirely too apparent. “You can’t say that!” They tried to keep their voice cold but it came out a little spluttering, choked. “Don’t flirt with me.”
“How can I not when you react like this? It’s so much fun.” The hero continued to saunter forward - gold, radiant, so stupidly powerful that the villain went weak at the knees. “Do you really want me to stop?”
Admittedly, when they started this, they had not expected to draw attention. At least not like this. The hero had emerged out of nowhere to challenge them, to - to sabotage them, because that was clearly what this was!
“I will kill you,” the villain promised, desperately.
The hero’s grin broadened. “I’ve heard that before. Perhaps you’ll poison my wine?”
“Yes.”
“So it’s a date then! Excellent. Seven O clock?”
“No - that’s not -” The villain floundered and wished that it could be, then despised themselves for wanting that. “You’re trying to sabotage me.”
“I mean, obviously. But that doesn’t mean I’m not serious about the date. Do you know much about poisons? Or wine? You could always try cyanide in chocolate cake, if you’re not much of a wine drinker.”
The villain stared at them. Dumbstruck. Stunned enough that the hero was there, and close, and drawing the mask from the villain’s face with a gentle hand as if the villain might spook.
“There we go,” the hero murmured, gaze far too intent for the villain not to squirm, lingering on their lips and then locking their stares. “Hello.”
The villain swallowed.“Why are you doing this?”
“Do you find it that impossible to think that somebody might like you?”
Yes. “That’s not the point. We’re enemies.”
“Enemies are only friends in waiting,” the hero replied, and wasn’t that disgusting. Even worse was that charming smile still fixed on their face, that made it entirely too clear that this sunny demeanor was probably entirely to wind them up and draw them out. And it was working. Damn it.
“I’m not your friend. I will never be your friend.”
“No, you’re my date.”
The villain’s lip twitched despite how much they really didn’t want to smile. It was annoying. Nobody did this to them. They were terrifying. The world cowered, it spat, it shunned. Nobody in the world had ever sauntered them up to him and asked them out on a date.
“You’re blushing,” the hero said softly.
The villain immediately ducked their head away and grabbed for the mask.
The hero caught their chin deftly in one hand, not allowing the opportunity to hide. “I like it,” they assured. “It makes you look deceptively cute. The contrast is intoxicating.”
“You can’t say things like that.”
“I think we’ve gathered that I don’t do what you tell me but I appreciate the effort.”
“I’ll kill you.”
“You used that line already, gorgeous.”
The villain glared at them, furiously, heart hammering. They felt tongue-tied, ridiculous, and yet the way the hero looked at them made it impossible to feel entirely ridiculous because nobody looked at a ridiculous thing like that.
“This is a trap.”
“Undoubtedly,” the hero said. “I’ve made no secret of wanting to catch you.”
They said catch like this was something very different. They said trap like it was only the kind of danger that could be good.
This was a Horrible Idea.
“…I didn’t even bring poison with me for dinner,” the villain muttered.
“It will have to be next time then.” The hero grabbed their hand, some kind of whirlwind, some kind of devastation. “Come on.”
