still soaking in all of those beautiful #earthday vibes 🌞 & I decided to say a lil’ something about sustainable shopping 🙌🏽 the clothes we wear have a substantial impact on the planet; therefore, it is very important to be conscious of where exactly our clothing is coming from, how it is produced, and how we take care of it. It all starts with education! Luckily there is a wonderfully eye-opening doc on Netflix titled “the true cost” that dishes out all the facts on “fast fashion” and why you should say “no thanks” to that mass produced pair of jeans. I try to reduced my impact by purchasing my clothes 2nd hand (yay for thrift shops & vintage stores) whenever I can and supporting brands that integrate sustainability & a code of ethics into their production. There are loads of amazing companies out there & one of my favorites is @reformation ! (ps that is where this beautiful dress is from so you should check ‘em out!) (at Brooklyn, New York)

happy #earthday 🌏🌍🌎 I know we find ourselves saying “it’s a small world” pretty often, but once you hop on a plane and find yourself on the other side of the globe, your perspective begins to shift. When I was in Asia last semester, there were times when I felt like I was roaming around a foreign planet, not just a foreign country. The environment I was in was nothing like I had ever experienced before. 🌴🐒 I was surrounded by all new plant and animal life and the landscapes were far different from the wide-open grasslands of Oklahoma. 🌿 I realized just how expansive our planet is. And as I paddled around Halong Bay in a tiny kayak with my fellow gap year travelers, it struck me just how diverse and straight up awesome our planet is as well! 🚣🏼‍♀️ I mean just look at it!! It is SO FREAKING COOL!! 🐳 There are not massive oceans filled with beautiful creatures and forests made up of thousands of trees anywhere else in this solar system. 🌲 Everywhere you look Earth is teeming with life. 🦋 And it is constantly changing, evolving, growing— so today is a day to celebrate the awesomeness of our planet! 🌈Go outside and take in that nature!! Give it a good look and maybe even a big sniff ;) 🌻 and then say thank you for all the oxygen and food and water 💧 and minerals and all the other things mother earth gives you that we all take for granted. And then tomorrow, wake up with earth mama on your mind & make it a priority to live your life in a way that both celebrates and protects her awesomeness ( because there really is no #planetb )
