What is it about youth that makes us so firmly believe that we’ll look fetching in long hair, strumming inept renditions of unpopular Beatles songs?
I absolutely did purchase these the moment I beheld them.
Occasionally one has a photograph taken in the midst of being styled by an exuberant and insistent granddaughter. I assure you the end result was ‘fresh’, or so Edie said.
I assure you this conceit works its magic on button nymphs as well!
One must always strive solely for dignity of comportment when it comes to photo opportunities, is my motto!
TENDERNESS
You are not afraid of the sufferings and sorrows of other people, even when they are acted out in unappealing ways. Beneath even defensiveness and self-righteous behaviour, you know that deep down people need nurturing and consolation. One danger is being naive about people’s dark sides. But at your best you know you can be mean yourself, which helps you to sympathise. You bring strength and forgiveness where other people might panic.
AGGRESSION
One part of your character is anger in all its forms: frustration, outrage – and when anger is suppressed – bitterness, grumpiness, and bodily aches. Fundamentally, frustration comes from hope: you get upset because you expect your life will be more than a valley of tears. One way to deny aggression is to direct it inwards, as self-criticism. But you’re at your best when you acknowledge anger, and act it out clearly and in a focussed way, with honour.
ORDERLINESS
You love it when everything is neat and tidy: when there is a proper way of doing things, and you can tick things off the to-do list and know where everything is. So others, at times, are to you unbearably sloppy and messy. And you run into things that can’t be ordered (a child, a partner, a colleague at work) which drives you slightly nuts. But your desire for order is a good one when it is focussed where it is needed and when you’re okay with a bit of mess.

Cancer would be a Black Bear.
While they may seem temperamental and hard to understand, these are actually semi-predictable and gentle creatures. They can be highly social or highly not. Attack or threaten their family though, and see how fast things get serious.

Presented in their box as part of an “Homage to Blériot”, as Delaunay might have intended. My nephew could likely tell you more about the artist; I’m more interested in the aviator. Air travel is one of the most marvelous inventions in the world’s history!
Ms. Ahmadi presented me with these smashing Fox & Chave cufflinks in an Ottoman carnation design. I do, in my own modest way, observe Ramadan with her, mostly because otherwise it’s dreadfully awkward to have meals alone (I’m afraid I’m not terribly pious! I count down every moment until Eid).
I’ve invented a new term for my particular look: ‘dorc chic’. Catchy, wouldn’t you say? The ‘c’ substituted for the more usual ‘k’ lends it that certain je ne sais quoi appropriate for fashion terminology.
To the point!
An afternoon gin and tonic. I opted for the “Lapel” with honey frame and bottle-green lenses, but as you can see I’d forgotten to take another tortie pair out of my jacket first. Pictorial evidence of both forgetfulness and vanity, forsooth!
So red! But I felt piquante today. The “Pleat” style has these cunning clip-ons, so they’re regular specs first and sunglasses second.
