Gforen Hora ("Frozen Peak") 2746m
The Gforern Hora (or Horn) is an easy reach peak from the end of the Sertig Valley. The “Frozen Peak” offers most of time good snow and also powder sections as the slopes towards the peak are mostly in the shadow. So this is a recommended smaller tour (900m climb) in the Davos region, especially in late spring when the snow elsewhere has melted. One can take the Swiss “Postauto” from Davos Platz…

Leistchamm - A steep and windblown peak not far from Zurich with great views
Leistchamm (2101m) is “racy” peak above Amden, a small summer and winter resort closed to Zurich (40 minutes drive). The peak is mostly climbed in summer as it takes only about 2.5 hours to climb the peak on a good (sometimes slippery) trail. The views of the Walensee Lake (1’700m below!) and the peaks to the South are spectacular!! View from the top towards East The Leistchamm is relatively…

Sun and Powder in Davos - Xmas 2023/24
This year there was a lot (!) of snow in Davos over Xmas. As we had the whole family up including the grandchildren, I was only able to do some smaller tours.

In Search of Powder 2022/23
In Search of Powder 2022/23
We certainly had better snow conditions in early winter in other years than in 2022. Currently (December 23) it is raining up to 2000m. Not ideal for the less than average snow cover. I thus cannot provide you with great powder pictures yet from this ski season, but have posted a few pictures from earlier years for you to enjoy.
