Curiosity. It had been an intriguing thing — the
exhilaration of discovery, the horror of realization.
There were many things that curiosity brought and
there were few who took the chance to feel as such.
Euanthe, however, had not been the kind to step
away from something that interested her. The earth
writhed beneath her as she stepped before it, the
pain of DEATH echoing through her hooves. It was
not the normal feel of it, not its typical voice. The
draenei walked cautiously as she gazed loosely
upon the ground, listening. It were as though she
waited for the Wind to tell her what had happened,
but it hadn’t blew once. Such silence was beyond
her comprehension. Earnestly, it had made her
apprehensive. What she saw had not been normal,
but she grew determined to find out why.
Embers scattered from the hoary staff placed upon her back. It
made for an oddly pleasant back light, one that marked her
location but only vaguely. The further out she stepped into the
thicket, the worse the voice got. It twisted her once curious
expression into disgust, and she continued to move until she
found herself on some sort of crude pathway. It was not
humanly carved, but it had been much more passable than
forested area. Within moments she was out in what had
presumably been the “open”. It was as open as it might get,
at least. Her surroundings had been unsteady and she
remained uneasy.
Such feeling was fueled only by the moment the
sound of footsteps against dying soil. Euanthe
snapped her vision in its general direction, her
eyes settling on a handful of men she could only
recognize as knights. But there had been warriors,
too, within those men. And the one that stood before
her, staring her down with a hand placed warily upon
his sheath, would lead them. She heard little, knew
little. But only the distrusting gazed upon someone
with such a look. Her body unfurled itself from the
half-crouched position she had stationed herself it,
hands held still and out towards her sides. It was a
submissive gesture, and she hadn’t moved at all
beyond that.
❝Sir. — ❞ A commanding statement, but in a meek tone.
❝ I am aware of these wilds. I follow because the earth
calls to me in pain. I apologize… but I cannot leave knowing
nothing. I am very capable of handling myself.
—— Do you, too, investigate this — this corruption?❞
♛ ╳ — ❝ Yes I do. My Kingdom is Lordaeron, which is very close to these parts.❞
Arthas soon departs from his steed to move closer down to her level. A quick lip orders his men to stay put, and that she seemed to be of no threat ; sometimes was he able to bring his mind to recognize those who are kind. At her word of corruption, his brows furrow together and a heavy sigh fills his lungs, Exhale. She was more than right on that, the lands here have become gray. A disheartening and dead color that now blights something he loves. And not that he would admit such a thing aloud, but it begins to wear him thin. Something, someone is calling and this plague feels like destiny.
His land, his very being, was dying.
The Prince nods as she informs him that she is well able to hold her own, perhaps she could be of use and become an ally to his people. At the current position, they could use all of the help they are able to get and she seems trustworthy enough ; the stress in her eyes because of the land is true enough evidence in such a fact. She cares. His eyes fall towards the ground for a second, before glancing up towards the sky ; there is pain in the notion, and for a second worry bleeds from his eyes. However, the Prince makes haste build back up a Kings demeanor, if he was to command, to lead, then he shall bring forth the confidence needed to sing in the hearts of his men. Footfalls press on and draw him closer to the Draenei, and Arthas speaks once more.
❝ Do you know what is happening here uh — ❞
There is a break in his speech as Arthas realizes they have yet to exchange formalities.
❝ … I’m sorry I don’t think we have made introductions. I am Arthas Menethil of Lordaeron, Knight of the Silver Hand. ❞
He keeps the title prince purgatoried on his tongue. For in the now, he was a Knight of the Silver Hand, his prince title will come second after that. A hand extends out in a gesture of greeting ; better to make a friend than an enemy.
