Shonda always goes for shock value though lol. I think she's trying to show that stuff like that happens. People just die and bam they're gone. She likes it to be realistic and I think she's trying to show that sometimes people just die and that's life

I understand that but Grey’s Anatomy literally shows us that every single episode. Not even including the deaths of minor characters, we’re been shown this over and over. Izzie got cancer - that just happened. George was walking down the street one day and got hit by a bus - that just happened. Lexie and Mark just happened to be in a plane crash and died. Arizona happened to also be in that plane crash and lost her leg. Jackson and April lost their child, barely a few episodes ago. Mer’s survived a bomb in a body cavity, an almost drowning, a gunman in the hospital, a plane crash and giving birth in a blackout. And so many other things I could mention.. and all of those things just happened.. we understand that. That’s life, things happen.. we get it.

But I think there comes a point when it’s too much. It isn’t even that he died that I’m so mad it (though I’m mad at that too) - it’s the way they handled it. Half an episode… twenty minutes.. that’s all the time they took to hit Derek with a car, take him to a hospital, put him in a coma, call Mer and have her switch off the life support machine. Twenty. Minutes. After over 10 years of this character. A character that’s been at the core of the show since the very first episode.. All they took was twenty minutes and he was thrown out the door, bye, never to be seen again.. it feels lazy, rushed and like terrible writing.  

And people watch TV shows and fall in love with these characters. It just feels really disrespectful to have treated the loyal viewers this way. I know it’s Shonda’s show and her vision but you’d think even she’d have more respect for the character she created.. You know, I’m sure that the people who watch this show are well aware that bad things happen. But it’s nice for a person to hang onto a little bit of hope. And that’s what MerDer were for so many people that watched the show: proof that no matter what you go through, no matter what life throws at you, you can and will get through it. That’s what fiction is for a lot of people.. and MerDer were the anchor of this show. The one constant through everything. Through all the plane crashes and bombs and gunmans and near death experiences and fights and break ups.. MerDer would always make it through. They were the heart of Grey’s Anatomy. And Shonda’s just taken that away and stomped all over it..

I always wanted the reboot of Ghostbusters to be four girl-ghostbusters. Like, four normal, plucky women living in New York City searching for Mr. Right and trying to find jobs — but who also bust ghosts. I’m not an idiot, though. I know the demographic for Ghostbusters is teenage boys, and I know they would kill themselves if two ghostbusters had a makeover at Sephora. I just have always wanted to see a cool girl having her first kiss with a guy she’s had a crush on, and then have to excuse herself to go trap the pissed-off ghosts of the Triangle Shirtwaist Factory fire or something. In my imagination, I am, of course, one of the ghostbusters, with the likes of say, Emily Blunt, Taraji Henson, and Natalie Portman. Even if I’m not the ringleader, I’m definitely the one who gets to say “I ain’t afraid a no ghost.” At least the first time.
