I have so many mixed feelings
I just finished my last shift working for Starbucks. My time at Starbucks has been such an incredible journey, and that is why I cried all the way home tonight. This past year and a half has had a lot of ups and downs, but I am so thankful for the opportunities I have had while working for Starbucks. I am really going to miss my fellow partners, I am going to miss being a partner myself, and being apart of that community. I could go on and on about what an amazing company Starbucks is, and how it is an amazing company to work for - but that isn’t what this is about. I feel as though I have grown so much during my time working at Starbucks, I have come out of my shell more and I have learned a lot about myself as well. I have made so many friendships that I just know are going to my life-long, because when you’re a partner, you’re not just co-workers, or even friends… you’re family. You’re there for each other in ways that other people just don’t understand, and I’m not just talking about having each other’s back during Frappy Hour (which is definitely important though, don’t get me wrong). There is something about writing a green apron card for a fellow partner, recognizing them for not their cleaning skills, or beverage quality, but their genuine heart, their welcoming arms, their consideration of others etc. Sure, I had my frustrating days working for Starbucks, and I wasn’t always happy at the end of my shift, but those aren’t the things that I’m going to remember. A few years from now, I’m not going to remember that customer that called me stupid last week, but I will remember my fellow partners bringing me flowers and a card, and Starbucks almost every day for a month when I was off work after my surgery. I’m not going to remember what our food and sales goals were, but I will remember every single partner I worked with, and how wonderful they were. I didn’t realize how big of a deal this was going to be to me. Usually when I move on from a job, that’s that. I don’t even give it a second thought. However, I really feel as though this is the end of a chapter for me, Starbucks was a huge part of my life, and it was a lot harder than I thought to hang up that green apron for the last time tonight.
Lol. I’ve gone back to work for Starbucks 2 other times in my life since I wrote this.
