just watch the interview Mitch did with Mark Masters and him saying how one of the hardest calls to make regarding going to Vegas was over the phone with Auston and how Carson would’ve been part of that conversation :(

For sure! And it was def hard for Carson to agree and be ok with Arizona being their permanent home, but it also wouldn’t make sense for it not to be. Of the three babies too, only Mia is born in Toronto. Carter and Liv are born in Phoenix, but that’s also because they’re both born during the offseason. Arizona is also where they settle, like it’s where all of the Matthews kids grow up. And exactlyyyy without those boundaries needed with Mitch being Carson’s cousin, things would absolutely get messy

well in that case… what’s Carson’s reaction like after Mitch is traded to Vegas 😭😭

Carson is the one of the Matthews fam that 100% would’ve felt the most conflicted about Mitchy going to Vegas. It’d be tough for her adjusting to him being so far away. Their entire lives, for the most part other than summers in Arizona, Mitchy has lived within driving distance for Carson. Given how strong their bond is, again, for their entire lives, they’ve just said “hey I’m coming over” or just showed up at each other’s house. They’re each others ‘twin’, of course it’d be not fun for either of them. That being said, and it’d def be because of her relationship with Auston, Carson would have a really good grasp on how the NHL is a business and nothing can last forever. Ever since they got engaged and Mia came soon after, Carson and Auston have considered Arizona their permanent home. Despite Toronto being her hometown, it became the city that she and her family lived in during the hockey season. If Auston signed somewhere else, Toronto wouldn’t be home at all anymore. That’s something she accepted and agreed to because of their relationship. That being said, when it comes to Mitchy, she’s always known that Toronto could be the home he returns to after the hockey season is over, not during it. So she’d absolutely understand and not have any type of resentment, but it’d suck a lot. She and Mitchy would’ve had their own conversations about it for sure but there would’ve been the boundary set between them that they were discussing it as cousins. They can’t talk about that stuff in the sense of talking about what went on with the Leafs and in the locker room because although they are relatives, she is Auston’s wife and that’s just an unfair spot to put her in if Mitch is talking negatively about guys on the team or anything like that. Carson also wouldn’t really discuss the Mitch stuff that went down with Auston either, again, because she and Mitch are cousins and that’d put her in the middle. So it’s definitely a complex situation but she’s absolutely the type to remain civil and neutral in it all

Definitely a lot of mixed feelings. Mia would have trouble understanding it all because all she’s ever known is whenever they’re at their Toronto home, Mitchy is around all the time. Same with Steph. It’d be a major adjustment going into a new hockey season without them around and also just going so long without seeing them. Also pls you know Mitch would be dramatic saying to Carson “what if Meems forgets me” like Mia could ever

Happy belated Father's Day Auston 🥹 I know his babies woke him up with alllll the kisses and cuddles!

Pleaseeeeee you know Carson tried keeping both Mia and Carter occupied so Auston could sleep in but it was a lost cause and he woke up to Mia climbing onto the bed to give him all the cuddles and loving. Carson wasn’t far behind though, coming back into their room carrying Carter who also snuggled right up to his dad once Carson set him on the bed. And Auston wouldn’t have it any other way

I just know Mia is all over her daddy in the sweetest way, trying to confront him after seeing him so down for the past few days 🥺

Oh 100% and like she just knows something is off with him. She understands that he’s done playing hockey for now and they’ll be going to their other house soon, but she doesn’t understand the extent of it. Like the significance of losing in game 7, so seeing Auston down because of that but not getting why, she’s very concerned for him. She is sooooo attached to him just the most snuggly because of that but also because she’s just so happy he’s home and doesn’t have to go away for long again and you know Auston eats it right up

thinking about Carson and Mia at game 7 last night :( fans were so brutal throwing things on the ice at the guys and booing. I just imaging Mia clinging onto her mom cause she’s getting a bit overwhelmed with everything and man with the things people have been saying about Auston these playoffs imagine some heckling Carson cause they know who she is :((

It definitely wouldn’t have been a pretty scene that’s for sure 😭 Carson and Mia would’ve absolutely been with Auston’s parents too though, which would’ve been helpful. Carter would’ve been at home with a babysitter. But it for sure would’ve been hard to watch, Carson would’ve gotten Mia out of there real quick so they could get out of the crowd and down to where they could wait for Auston. As for heckling, Carson kinda would’ve just kept her head down and again, got tf out of there. She doesn’t care if people want to say unnecessary and mean things to her about the Leafs like she’s part of the reason of the outcome, she’ll take it. But if Mia’s uncomfortable or overwhelmed that’s when she’s not giving any bit of fuel to an already growing fire and just removes herself and Mia from the situation entirely. If she ever did get heckled at something as significant as a game 7, she honestly probably wouldn’t even tell Auston about it unless things got out of hand because her priority would be being there to support him
