“Though you are not wandering around anymore…You and your creepy hat are welcome on this base anytime.” The admiral joked a little while he turned on the flame for the grill.
“…I personally never heard that the abyssals can return back to normal. But hearing this from you makes the exception. If you were to get your memories back, would you seek out the ones that killed you?…” Making an slight serious face for a brief while.
“–Ah! …Sorry, nevermind that. Go and take a seat this food should be ready in a couple of minutes.” While trying to open the packaged beef cuts, he left a knife on the cutting board unguarded. “I’ll take that…” The admiral grabbed the knife and prepared the food.
“If I were....To meet the ones that sunk me. I am not sure what I would do. My main instincts are simply to serve. I’ve encountered other Himes and my will was to at first work for them. However, something keeps driving me away from them. I will that feeling the “other.””
“Though, don’t feel bad for asking me such things. I have to think about such things...If I am to reclaim the person I once was.”
8thfleet-furutaka:
“She won’t like it at first but she will come around it sooner or later. She does tend to act on her own, I’ll keep her settled down.” The admiral replied while still having the refrigerator door opened.
He turned to look at the Wo class girl, being this close to her, he wasn’t actually afraid. More afraid he was of that creepy looking hat and the tentacles. The admiral laughed nervously and cleared his throat. “…Here we are. Some beef and rice. Not exactly ideal for night meal but it will do. Now I am going to put some white rice in the cooker.”
“That is to be expected. If I hadn’t left the remains of the hive, I would probably be the same way. I am just currently wandering around....Trying to figure things out. I’ve met a few Abyssals that have been turned back to normal or separated from one form and exist as two different beings. Is such a thing really possible?”
“Some people tell me not to seek out such answers, because I found out that I am something other than what I think am.....”
Her stomach then grumbled loudly.
“.....Oh. I guess my body likes the sound of what you are going to be making.”
8thfleet-furutaka:
“We can call you …Wo, at least for now. As for staying there are a few rooms suit up for guests. Don’t know how will the girls react to having an abyssal in the base. I am sure they won’t mind. Though I have this one light cruiser under my services that you might have trouble with. She is a guided missile light cruiser, meaning she shoots down…a-airplanes. That won’t be a problem right?”
The admiral walks away from the counter top to go open the refrigerator door. “Let’s see what we have that we can cook up tonight.” Being this close to the pale skinned girl was a little unsettling. He was gonna have to get used to that. “Would you like some beef cutlets, or a hamburger?”
“Trust me....I prefer not to get into fights with ship girls lately. I was hellbent on revenge for the group that killed the Hime class that controlled me, but that was several months ago. Without a hive to return to, I don’t have many aircraft left to summon. I’ve learned to fight hand to hand. Though, as long as your ship girl doesn’t try to attack me, I have no reason to attack her. I don’t want to put my complete trust in ship girls, at least not at this time.”
“Feel free to choose. I can survive eating almost anything. I suppose that’s the one good thing about being a shell of one’s former self....Not much can actually hurt you.”
After an indeterminate period of drifting, no longer than a day, a lifeless-seeming form was carried by the waves onto the sands near the naval base, along with innumerable pieces of debris and shrapnel...
“Sonar contact bearing 224, U-570 moving in to investigate. Nothing on hydrophones.” the submarine sped through the water, breaking the surface near the stricken ship.
“Gott… you have been in some wars…” she reached out to check the girl’s pulse and then took hold of her shirt and started to move. “Do not worry, we will be somewhere safe soon.”
hmshood51:
“H… hah… ghosts…” Flagstaff murmured, now to no one in particular. She couldn’t see what was going on, only barely hearing the conversation. That was what made the most sense, it was ghosts talking about taking her away. But they wouldn’t, she’d punch them in the face… if only her arms could move…
“You are not the only one here who was taken over by a hostile force.” she stated flatly. “But as far as I am concerned you are going to help me carry her without hurting her or you are going to get someone who can because the only way we are going to save her is to get her to proper medical facilities as quickly as possible.”
“As long as fünf siebzig is here no one is taking her anywhere else… you can count on that.”
“That is...why I came....out here....in the first place.....The Eight’s fleet was recently....attacked....but they have....several members of another fleet...acting as....doctors.....your friend will...be alright....I can help carry her....But I cannot...fix her body....But they gave me this....”
Wo then handed the submarine a small first aid package.
“You....have received.....training for....Such things.....correct?”
8thfleet-furutaka:
“Handle. Should’ve said handle.” The admiral muttered to himself. “The handle for the refrigerator. Pull it. …Think of it as a really cold cabinet for storing food.” Getting up from the table he was leaning on, he took off his coat to place aside of the table.
To just have a white long sleeve button shirt and a chest gun holster wrapped around him, though the holster itself was empty. “Let’s see if I have something available at this time of night.” Walking over to the nearby cabinet door, rolling up the sleeves to his shirt.
Noticing the girl’s speech is a tad clearer than before. Whatever was happening it seemed to be working. “Do you want stay here more than just the night? …err, I haven’t even gotten your name yet.”
“My name?” Wo asked. “Us Abyssals, do not have names. Just what your peoples label us as. Most ship girls seem to address me as Wo. We suppose that is as best as we can give you.”
“As you can probably tell, we are somewhat closer to this girl’s origins. Still far from retaining much. What we can tell you is this. She was sunk with her commanding officer, suffering a wound to the head and being stabbed in the gut before she went down.” Wo continued. “If you wish for us to stay longer than a night, that is alright. We are mostly harmless, as long as we are not attacked.”
After an indeterminate period of drifting, no longer than a day, a lifeless-seeming form was carried by the waves onto the sands near the naval base, along with innumerable pieces of debris and shrapnel...
“Sonar contact bearing 224, U-570 moving in to investigate. Nothing on hydrophones.” the submarine sped through the water, breaking the surface near the stricken ship.

hmshood51:
“O-oh god someone’s talking to me… what is that… who is… did you say… Wo class, what’s a Wo class…” Flagstaff squirmed a little, trying to sit up further… but in spite of her haze, some of those words penetrated into her mind. Will to survive, especially…
The effort proved too much, and she fell backwards back into the sand, her stomach feeling another, gnarling pain as some of the wounds reopened, blood beginning to trickle out.
“Agh… God damn it… I-I get it…” She managed, but her efforts at moving stopped again in the wake of the wounds breaking open.
All she saw was the Wo pointing at Flagstaff and the other start squirming in pain.
“Aufhalten! Stop that! You are hurting her!” she shouted before interposing herself between them.
“If you do not stop hurting her I will consider you hostile to us.” she was shaking as she raised her 88mm gun. I am so dead…
Wo looked blankly at the submarine and then proceeded to ignore the submarine’s threats.
“Fool. She needs.....to have a will to live....to escape this....Whatever attacked her is probably not far from here.....Bite marks that big....means it wants to drag her down below.....You are not smart enough....to evade such a being....if she doesn’t....choose to continue....I had no choice when...I was taken down....”
The Wo then proceeded to move several strands of hair that covered her head. She had a noticeable wound to the head. She then pointed down to her stomach. There was another major wound to her stomach.
“I was....killed.....And now I am stuck....living...as a ghost ship....Don’t get in my way....I can stop....her wounds....for just long enough....that she does not need to end up like me.....”

“Kriegsmarine… huh…” For a few seconds, Flagstaff couldn’t even remember what that meant, but she struggled with her free, working arm and hand to drink some of the juice from the coconut, and responded. “F… Flagstaff… I think… US Navy… who’s coming…? High Point?” That was the only other name that even appeared in her mind at that moment. Even more clearly than her own name, it appeared.
“Rig completely kaput… severe burns and cute to midsection, what looks like a large bite and multiple bruises, dehydration, sun burn, und she seems to be… verwirrt.”
She answered the neutral ship first, so that she could call for help first if she couldn’t move Flagstaff by herself. “She says her name is Flagstaff.”
“A-are you… wo-class…?”
“D-don’t worry…” she said to Flagstaff… “I am sure she is here to help…”
“Und not to kill us both…”
“......I am, indeed a Wo.....However....I am here to escort you to....the nearest safe spot....Do not do anything stupid....And you will be fine.... Humans have accepted me....into their homes....So I am simply....returning....the favor....Do not....make said humans regret....their decisions....” Wo answered back a matter of factly.
The Abyssal then stopped a few feet from the shoreline, not going anywhere near the submarine nor the injured ship girl. She then pointed her finger at Flagstaff and whisper something.
“Child....hear me....You need to maintain a will to survive....If not...They will come to seek you out...And I am sure...You do not wish to join the likes of someone like me....”
8thfleet-furutaka:
The admiral chuckled a little right beneath his breath. Seeing how the girl learned from her surroundings. It was quite …endearing to him. He was slowly getting accustomed to having an abyssal under the same roof.
“Sushi and squid might be the same thing as raw fish. Though it can be paired with white rice. I can try and cook something. Since we are on the first floor, i don’t have to worry about making noise. Perhaps it can bring some of those memories back. Why don’t you go ahead and pull the lever.”
“Hmmm. Those words sound very familiar to me.” Wo’s voice seemed to be more focused than previously.
“I hope, that I can stay just a tad longer than normal....To enjoy an actual meal. Could I have that at least?” She asked to someone.
Wo then walked over to the lever. “What’s this do?” She asked curiously.

“S… so much shouting…” Flagstaff murmured, before starting to cough again. A mixture of seawater and blood came out onto her sleeve when she covered her mouth, and she let out a groan. “I-I can try… I feel like my throat’s fucked up…”
With there being very little left of her harness, she didn’t hear anything any newcomer might have to say…
“Do not worry neutral vessel. I am ein u-boat on shore… I am sure even if I did fire you would nor be in much danger. Please make quickly. Injured amerikaner is almost kaput. I cannot move them without injuring them further.”
“Okay! Help is on the way. So while we wait I will introduce myself. I am u-570 of the mighty Kriegsmarine!”
It only took Wo a short while to appear on the horizon. She cruised on top of the water, as if it was nothing but a walk in the park. For the time being, she had a large red cross painted onto her hat, rather crudely as well. This was because Akagi had put on there at the last moment before Kigiku returned back to her base to assess the damages.
“Please....Report....Injuries....So..I can....send....them....to the Magus....I mean Medical Admiral.....She...Will know...how to fix....this....American...” Wo then radioed in.
8thfleet-furutaka:
{{ The admiral stood to the side of the Wo class as she looked around the kitchen. Thinking to himself many of the things that sets the humans and abyssals apart. Though his thoughts were cut short when the girl pointed out something.
“That is a refrigerator. It is where we keep our food. Most of it anyways, the food that can rot quickly. Helps keeps it fresh to an extent. With you eating raw fish and whale…fat, you haven’t tried anything else have you?” }}
Wo placed her hand on the fridge, trying to get an understanding by touching it. She seemed to gather information that way. Quite foreign to how humans learned.“This is very interesting....As for food....The last human...admiral....I spent...time....with....Often bought me squid and sushi....I suppose that’s a common....foodstuff...for your...peoples....?”
After an indeterminate period of drifting, no longer than a day, a lifeless-seeming form was carried by the waves onto the sands near the naval base, along with innumerable pieces of debris and shrapnel...

hmshood51:
“Ngh…” Flagstaff winced, and felt fresh stabs of pain from her midsection as the German tried to help her up. “O-ow, ow… t-take it easy…” Her voice couldn’t get above a low murmur, and she could barely focus her vision on anything further than a couple of inches. It was exactly like a dream, but images of her encounter several hours prior… was it hours… came to her in brief, vivid flashes as the wounds were agitated by her new posture.
Her back and her sides was where the damage was most apparent–the clothing there had been burned and singed off, and the skin was a mess of barely-closed shrapnel wounds that had plunged straight into her mostly-unguarded abdomen, and several of the tooth marks were apparent in the exposed skin. Thankfully, her harness had absorbed some of the bite before being blown to pieces, or she’d have surely been killed.
“Es tut uns leid, but you have to drink. Who know how long you have been in the sun und I need to make sure you are well enough to take you the rest of the way to where they can look after you.
“Wait I am being a dummkopf… why take you there, when they can come here.”
“ACHTUNG! ALARM! Injured ship girl at my location. Send medical transport.”
There was a radio pickup. Though the channel was not one that a standard ship girl would have had. It was an Abyssal one. However it picked up and a quiet voice answered.
“Hello....You are requesting assistance....I can....Provided...that you do not fire....on a neutral vessel....”
8thfleet-furutaka:
{{ Though the admiral was not the best of cooks around the base. And mostly because the ship girls would always beat him to making breakfast. Not to mention the apron he owned had the words ‘#1 admiral’ printed on it. To him, hopefully that was stored away where nobody would see it.
“Yes, and not eating for a month is bad. How did you survive that? Ah well, I suppose your body is different from that of a human stomach.” The admiral kept the lead on way to the kitchen. Hoping that Wo class wasn’t to far behind or have gotten lost.
“Here we are.” Stopping at the kitchen doors to wait for the Wo class girl. }}
“That is....a good question.....I suppose it is because we have a slower...metabolism than a normal humans.....Though most Abyssals are simply....born of malice.....I wonder why....I hunger then....”
“What is that big white thing....?” Wo asked pointing at the refrigerator.
{{ “Good. That is a relief. Seeing that in the middle of the night walking around would not be the best for me.” Catching sight of the abyssal’s scar was shortly interrupted by the sound of rumbling. Perhaps that is what caused for her to gain her senses back.
After being told what it was. “Ahh, then that means you are hungry.” Placing one hand at his waist and the other behind his head. “Unfortunately, like I said the shops from the nearby district are closed by now. But come on, There is a kitchen on the first floor. You can get something to eat from there.” }}
“Hunger?” Wo asked. “I suppose....that I am.....I haven’t eaten anything in over a month....That is probably not.....normal. Right. It is not.....”
The girl looked curiously around, sticking her head into every open door that the admiral had bypassed. Much of this seemed very novel to her. The ship girls certainly lived better than she had in the caves.
“....You can make food that is not raw fish or whale fat? Impressive....”
Missouri blinked. "Surprising to see you again, Wo."
“…….Why is that? …..I’ve just been spending my…..time wandering…the seas…”
“Well, that’s just great. Still, makes some sense, since if you converted a destroyer into an I-class, that mind would just go to waste… If you’re a skilled fighter, that means that you probably were a successful carrier in life. Where were you when you had your first memory?”
“.....My first true memory?.....I would have to...say....Around the Coral Sea....That is where the Hime I slaved for was from.....That would lead you to assume....I am a ship from that region of the seas...But with all of these....shadowed memories.....I am not from that area.....No....I am not....”
The Abyssal’s eye’s then grew larger. Soon she screamed out in pain and fell to her feet. Wo’s face looked tired and ill. The girl forced a smile on her face and reached out to Missouri to help her up. However she quickly hard to raise her hand to head.
“My.....home is to the North. A small fleet. Nothing, too grand. I was a good fight. Yes. That is true, friend. They were going have me retire as a ship girl. Civilian life. Cliched end....Always the day before retirement...Hahaha. All the pain and anguish.....This life sucks. Don’t ever become like us. Okay, friend?” Wo’s voice sounded quiet and better organized than normal.
The girl was acting manic, as she was trying to compose herself. She desperately wanted to stay focused. Help the American ship girl get some clues. However the symbiote on her head started to convulse in panic. Its eyes started to glow an icy blue.
“Ahahah....It looks like I’m fading out again. Well, at least you got to meet the real me for a brief moment....It seems the symbiote isn’t happy with me. Hahah....I’ll try to speak with you again...Sometime. Okay? Thanks. You seem nice for an American....”
“Please.....Tell me that you are willing to help me. I will make it worth your while. The Hime, stored treasures. I know where they are hid---ACK!”
Wo once again collapsed downwards. Her symbiote hat seemed to compose itself. It’s blue eyes turned dull once again.
“.....Hmmm.....I seemed to have had blacked out.....I apologize for that inconvenience.”
