Manon was born to Owen and Harlow Davies as an only child. Due to a mild but impactful heart defect, she wasn't normally an active child and was a bit left out at school, making her tend to keep to herself.

An elderly neighbor took her in as a sort of apprentice when he saw how much she loved music and showed her how he ran the local station. Manon loved sitting and listening to Rhys talk to strangers and play music for hours as she did her homework and eventually learned his craft.

Wanting to make Rhys proud after he passed, she got her parents blessing and moved to the US to try and make it with a bigger station.

During this time, she encountered what she thought was a stray dog one night and was bit during the encounter, turning her into a wolf a few weeks later. She had no memory of the change, and it took several months before she fully understood what was going on. She is currently still adjusting.

Her parents now know of her new condition, as she came out with the truth to them after being unusually dodgy and worrying them with her change of behavior even across an ocean. During that reveal, she found out her mom was a witch, and her father was an apothecary, one reason they had such a large garden growing up. They are trying to help her manage or cure her, due to her heart condition and how it appears to effect her during shifts.

Manon is still learning and has little to no ties with any other supernaturals. She's constantly walking on eggshells, afraid she'll mess up or out her family in danger. She has been keeping a verbal diary, changing names and locations when necessary. Due to this journal, people think it's a first person fictional podcast and it is fairly popular. She's careful, but enjoys telling people "the truth" and having them be interested in her new life instead of scared. Even if it is all anonymous.

Manon looked up at him, normally hazel eyes now a slightly more inhuman gold as they searched his face, focusing best she could on his expression. She was trying to copy him; his calmness and mirror his motions as she took a deep breath.

"Chill... we chill..."

The panic from earlier was still running around in her head. The surprise of partially shifting at all, and especially unexpectedly and uncontrollably. The fear of not being able to make them disappear- ever.

But he was here; like her. He showed her it could be done. He had been there. He was calm..

Blue and hazel eyes stared back, looking at each of her eyes as they began to glow reminiscent to colored sea glass in the sun. What else might change before she lowered her heartrate, he wondered.

"We chill," he repeated, softer, slower. Again, four seconds in, hold four seconds, four seconds to breathe out. It had been a shock in temperature to initiate change the first time. His father's glass of water and iron stare. He didn't want to do that to her. It didn't have to be that extreme.

Manon took the breaths, letting them out slowly when he did. She closed her eyes for a short while to focus on the breathing then opened them again to just look into his eyes.

They were beautiful up close like this. She'd never noticed the different colors mixed together in them before.

As she breathed to mirror him, distracted in part by his gaze, her eyes slowly faded from the gold back into her darker hued iris. Baby steps, even if she was unaware.

"You got a..." she furrowed her brow, ears folding back slightly before he had continued, more in confused surprise than disgust. "So its just.. breathing?"

Manon out her hands over her ears and frowned as she tried to understand. He'd been riled up in different ways when it had happened. Sort of like her. She had gotten startled and it just happened.

"But I tried that..." she said softly, almost in defeat like she'd already failed. "I tried breathing and focusing to get it to go away before calling.. " maybe she'd just done it wrong?

"Ya know ya can panic and still be doin' 4-4-4, right?" Exercises could only help so much with a reeling mind. He knew as much. Counting things in the house while pissed and anxious only made him more pissed.

"I ain't got PhD on the end of my name, but, uh, I guess if you wanna panic you're gonna panic. Ain't that how it works?" With that in mind, he faced her completely. "Breathe with me, kay? We're just chillin'. In the house. We're safe, you're safe. We chill." And... he breathed.

She sulked at the laugh, lips tight as she watched him and hands threatening to cover the ears again.

"'S not funny..." Manon mumbled as she watched him, noticing the change and focusing for a while on that.

The same yet not. Softer, rounded ears belonging to a feline, as dark as they were in his true form. He could pivot them just the same, raised, to the side, and lowered. He showed her the breadth of his control, before allowing the fur to recede, the shape once more human.

"First time it happened, I got a stiffy." He waved that away before he dared elaborate. "Time after that, I was in a fight with my old man, and then after that, I was just... happy. Just a good ol' fashioned happy day playin' outside. I couldn't control it for years. Now it's... like... it's like breathin' exercises, ya know? Like that. Mama B taught me 4-4-4. In four, hold four, out four."

Her fingers gripped a bit tighter at that before she sighed and closed her eyes in defeat.

Fingers slipped around her face to pull the hood open, strings loose as she finally let the hood fall back and allowed two furry wolf ears to show themselves.

"HA!" A callus hand clasped over his mouth. That was all?! Poor thing. He wouldn't say that out loud, of course. Poor thing and bless your soul belonged to mother figures; he'd get slapped around.

"Look, look..." Lucien breathed slowly, closed his eyes. Twenty seconds of deep, private thought, his ears began to thicken with black-ish fur.

Manon nodded, pacing around her living room again as he left the room before sitting on the couch. Her hands went to her head, feeling over the hood for confirmation before gripping the fabric.

"I don't know what happened. I didnt know it was possible." She was talking to herself, to him. Just trying to get her thoughts out.

"And now I can't make it stop."

"Make what stop?" A sweet tea for each hand, Lucien took to the floor in front of her. Now that he was settled, he took a good, long look at her. Ten fingers. No cuts. What was it?

Then his gaze ascended to her hood.

Was he clearing his throat? Laughing? Coughing?

"Show me your head."

"I still can't control it... I know it happens once a month but this is different. This is new and im scared." It was hard to say out loud but also refreshing to get it out and have someone know what was going on.

"What's different? What's happenin'?" If there was something he could do, he would do it. If she needed lessons in her powers, there were people he could direct her to, maybe. Most fera were reluctant to associate with other fera. Trust was a laughable concept, but, she already knew that.

"Look here, you sit, you pace, whatever you gotta do. I'm gonna get you and me somethin' to drink." Because he didn't know if she had anything in her stomach.

The girl turned to look at him, face flushed and wide eyed. She hadnt been crying, but she was definitely still freaked out to a degree. Not life or death, but she was clearly concerned about.. something.

"How do you make it stop?" She asked, Manons hands going to grab his shirt. "How do I make it go away?"

For a moment, Lucien stood dumbfounded. Realizing what she meant, he shut the door behind himself and locked it out of habit. His hat was removed, as was his jacket, still full of pens, a tiny notebook, and other work items usually emptied at home. It dropped on the nearest chair with a thunk and a rattle.

"It don't stop," he finally answered. "Ya know my girl's paws?" He gestured to the tattoo on his ribs. He was certain he had told her this once before, but the relevance was too much to ignore. "Mama B put a spell on em. I get to choose when I change, but I still gotta change. But... I was born this way. I don't... know if it's the same. I dunno if you... I dunno."
