Not my scans. Stitched together. From the Japanese Limited Edition DVD Boxset released in the early 2000s. The set was divided into 2 volumes.
Although they weren’t asked for, here are some re-renders I’ve done. I decided to make them because most of the colored settei are really small and terrible quality. The only one that I had to guess at was Toboe’s Granny’s settei. She’s never seen in proper lighting (either backlit in a dark room or super bright in a sunny field). I also didn’t know how to shade it, so it was guessed as best as I could. Please remember, these are unofficial high-res images. All but Granny’s were traced and color swatched from from screenshots and scans. More high-res settei will be posted as I make them.
Also, the one settei can be either Hamona or Jaguara as their designs are supposed to be identical.
Some of the Nobles’ airships. I’m not sure who’s the first ship is (may be an unnamed Noble) but the settei uses Lord Darcia III’s little ship for size comparison. Second set Darcia’s ship he uses to kidnap Cheza, as well as the interior of the ship and cockpit. The last is of Lady Jaguara’s ship.
Here are more military/retrieval squad vehicles.
Here are more of the cars Hubb drives (First is his own, second is the junk car he and Quent use to get to around) Last is the retrieval squad car used near the end of the series.
Here are some of the cars in the series. The first is Hubb’s car. There are also some of the military trucks and other civilian cars. The cars echo the design of cars from the 1940s, with a sci-fi twist.
The Most Ambitious Screencap - Reveal
Here it is; the background of the opening scene where Kiba runs down a street. There is loads of information one can glean from just this shot. I had to color over or blur some spots where I couldn’t properly remove Kiba, but I tried to make it look as original as possible. Personally, I dislike diagonal pan shots because they have jagged edges, but this one was worth it.
What do you see? What surprised you upon first viewing the image?
Attempting a Bold Screencap
After rewatching the opening for Wolf’s Rain, I noticed the part where Kiba is seen running down a street, is one long panning shot. I’ve taken over 100 snapshots to try and stitch together what that street looks like behind him. It won’t be perfect but it will definitely be interesting to see. I don’t think I will be able to remove all the parts of Kiba, so there may be parts where you see bits and pieces of him along the length of the complete picture. Please look forward to it! Here are some of the reference materials for the Hmong Tribe. First set is of Iyek and his horse. A fellow tribe-member and his bow and arrow. The tribe’s Elder in comparison to Toboe, the two young girls Iyek talks to who are taking care of a dog, and finally, all the viewable members in the village’s pan-shot.
Here we have some of the more well known side-characters: Neige, Leara, Leara’s pet falcon, Cole, Mew and the Retrieval Squad Commander. (I don’t have the settei for Zali, unfortunately.)
Some more nobles’ settei. First is Lord Orkham, the governing noble of Freeze City (the first location of Episodes 1-3) Next is Lady Jaguara and Lady Hamona. (settei of Jaguara helmet-less is from a separate set of settei.)
Fun Fact: Lady Hamona and Jaguara’s design is identical, other than the armor Jaguara wears.
The titular antagonist, Lord Darcia III. He is the character that perhaps changes the most, visually.
Note: First 4 images are from the settei artbook and last two from a separate settei set.
Next pair of characters: Cher Degré and Hubb Lebowski.
More settie. This time, Quent Yaiden and Blue. As well as Quent’s rifle.
The settei for everyone’s favorite Flower Maiden.
I wanted to have the last batch be: Character full>Facial Expressions/Angles>Wolf Form, but there wasn’t enough room for all 4. So this batch is the main 4′s facial expression/angles as well as a wolf’s (used as common facial expression for all wolves in the series).
Since the poll has literally 100% for the “Yes, please!” option, I figured I might as well begin posting the settei now! I’ll start with the main 4. I am aware that the settei for the main 4 is pretty easy to find but let’s just warm up.
