Patrick had been working a little too hard lately. Between his job and vanquishing, it felt like it was trying a hostile take over of his personal life. When he saw Nessa he smiled brightly. “Hey beautiful, I’ve missed you too.” He placed a chaste kiss on her lips. ‘How was work?”

“About as well as working with your brother can get,” She joked with a laugh, still unwilling to untangle the embrace,

“just breathe… you’re okay, i promise, just breathe.”

“..Patrick…” Nessa mumbled in recognition, blinking at him blearily.

Her words were slurred, and her vision blurry. She could vaguely feel her long hair sticking to her skin, and burning sensations around her wrists and ankles.

“..Silver-hurts..” Her voice rose slightly in pitch as shock wore off, and she began tugging at her restraints frantically “get it off, Patrick–it needs to come off!”

“Yes you really do,” he agreed slipping his phone into his pants pockets. “It’s not like its goodbye though.” He promised. He told her with a slight smile to his face.

“I sure hope it’s not.” She laughed, though her tone was full of sincerity. With a sigh, she forced herself to untangle from his hold, though very reluctantly. “This better be a good case though, for them to call me in on my night off.”

Patrick pulled out his phone from his back pocket. He would need a good picture of her later. He would consider a song later. He then recited his phone to her. “See, there we go.” He told her with a smile. “Known me a few hours and already have my number.” He teased.

She laughed at his joke, as a blush built on her cheeks. “It wasn’t the plan when I came here, but it’s a very good surprise.” She grinned up at him, before she sighed. “I really have to go, don’t I?”

“I know.” However he knew he was going to have to push. “That’s why after your shift I want you to call me. I want you to stay but you have a job to do.” He was very much his parents’ child and could be single minded at times. “We both do.”

“And it won’t get done without me.” Even though part was screaming her to say screw it and just stay. But she knew she couldn’t. She was still new at her job, and couldn’t afford to miss shifts. Still entangled in his arms, she reached for her phone and recited her number to him.

“Amazing,” He admitted a little breathless, his hand still cradling her face. Patrick was a little surprised at himself as his thumb brushed against her cheek. He was catching his breath and he decided he really didn’t want her to go. I felt right with her here.

“Yes.” She quickly agreed, smiling as his thumb caressed her skin, sparks trailing in his wake. Emotion was rushing through her so fast, she didn’t even know if she was comprehending it all. Sure, she had been with guys before. But..she had never experienced anything like this. “...Now I really don’t want to go.” She admitted shyly.

One hand cradled the side of her face while his other hand was wrapped around her waist. He was happy for the kiss and he wasn’t getting hit for reacting like he had. He didn’t want to stop but oxygen became required that he had to come up for air.

He may have broken the kiss, but Nessa didn’t break the embrace. She stood there, catching her breath. Her eyes slowly changed back to their dark brown, though there were still flecks of gold deep within them. Biting her lip, she hestitantly raised her gaze to meet his, even as a blush built on her cheeks. “...That was..”

He wasn’t exactly sure why he chose at that moment to impulsive. Welll nothing his subconscious will ever admit but it might have just been the look she was giving him now. His lips came crashing down on her’s.

The kiss was a bit shocking, but it wasn’t as startling as it should have been-part of her had wanted it after all, but it still took her a beat to respond with equal enthusiasm. Part of her hummed in happiness at the feel of his lips against hers, and it was that part that made her arm raise to wrap around his shoulders.

Down boy. “As much as I would like you stay, you should probably go. The job comes first.” Kissing her though, that was a valid idea. It was also a possibility to get him slapped or punched.

“Unfortunately, you’re right. The job never sleeps.” She sighed before biting her lip. ‘Screw it.’ An inner voice muttered in annoyance. The part of her she had been restraining all night was clawing itself way to the surface. Her eyes unknowingly became a brighter hazel as she shifted toward him.

“Yes, same place,” he nodded. “How long until you have to go?” He would have liked to see how long he could stay with her. He was a rather certain monopolizing her time wouldn’t work at the moment.

“I have a few minutes.” She smiled at him, tilting her head into his touch a bit. She was fighting herself to not stay here. She didn’t want to leave, but knew she had too.

“How about mid morning then?” Patrick suggested. He knew they would have to go soon and that was alright, they would see each other soon and he would look forward to it. He couldn’t help the way he smiled at her. Her smile was infectious.

“That sounds great. I’ll see you then.” She bit her lip, knowing she needed to pull away, but not wanting too. “...Should I meet you here then?” She asked, tilting her head a bit.
