Small Business Saturday! What!! Here’s a story about how I got my start in woodworking. I started out making small things for fun skateboards, binders and scroll-saw work. I started making cutting boards and wine bottle holders and would take them to local art shows and wineries. I was 16 when I wanted to turn a baseball bat and I knew my neighbor had a lathe. I asked if I could use it he said sure. He brought it over showed me how to turn it on and I started making ice cream handles and small bowls. I quickly limited by the size of the materials dictating the size of turnings. I saw some pictures of segmented bowls and gave it a try. I was hooked and decided to try and make 100 segmented bowls. Since then i’ve turned hundreds of bowls and vase. I continued my woodworking career by attending North Bennet Street School and learning how to make quality piece of furniture that could last for a long time. Since I started i’ve never had a job. I’ve always make things and sold things. I’m very fortunate to be able to do what I love everyday and still want to do it.
