What do you think makes someone a good friend? Like other than the obvious things such as respecting, non enabling, etc but some people shows love in different ways and on different levels
this is a hard one, for me. sadly as ive transitioned into adulthood i no longer have many friends, everyone has gone their seperate ways.
but i will say, for me, a good friend is...life altering. you can feel it when you first meet them, that this individual will change the trajectory of your life somehow. an instant, maybe unspoken, spark. this natural vulnerability when interacting. no masking, no mirroring, just giving yourselves to each other in the rawest form. they relax you so easily that you're sleepy in their presence, yet you stay awake all night just to hear each other speak. someone who sits and helps you clean when youre bedridden from pain. someone who cleans the vomit out of your hair when you drink too much. someone who burns through a whole tank of gas driving through the night just so the two of you can vent and escape your reality for a little while. someone who can nurture you the way a mother would, tease you the way a sibling can, but still stand their ground and tear you a new one when you need it. a good friend, to me, is someone who can recieve all your love and return their own, and treat your heart and mind with care and protection. even if the fallout is bad, years later you find yourself smiling when you recall the adventures you had together. someone you can not talk to for years and yet pick up talking right where you left off like no time has passed at all.
a good friend becomes fully woven into the fabric of your life, and ads a new color you never even knew you needed.
