Rosie the Riveter is a cultural icon of the United States, representing the American women who worked in factories during World War II, many of whom produced munitions and war supplies. These women sometimes took entirely new jobs replacing the male workers who were in the military. Rosie the Riveter is commonly used as a symbol of feminism and women's economic power (Wikipedia).
Joss Whedon on Equality
“Equality is not a concept. It's not something we should be striving for. It's a necessity. Equality is like gravity. We need it to stand on this earth as men and women, and the misogyny that is in every culture is not a true part of the human condition. It is life out of balance, and that imbalance is sucking something out of the soul of every man and woman who's confronted with it. We need equality. Kinda now.”

"I have always thought a real test of success is the question: 'Is this an organisation that you would be happy for your children to work for?' I have a son and daughter who have recently entered the workforce and, like any parent, my aspirations are that they be allowed to reach their full potential in a work environment that rewards merit and is free of harassment and discrimination."
