Women are great communicators. Men are, too, but it’s more to our strength as women. I love how this show [The Bold Type] celebrates that in a way that feels realistic.

❝ hey, i’m not that small. ❞
❝ you’d rather make up a fantasy version of somebody in your head than be with a real person. ❞
❝ i don’t want to be scared anymore. ❞
❝ you only like guys you don’t have a chance with, because you’re scared. ❞
❝ do you think there’s a difference? between belonging with and belonging to? ❞
❝ whatever spell you just tried to cast on me, it didn’t work, so i think you need to go back to hogwarts. ❞
❝ plenty of people are good-looking. that doesn’t make them interesting or intriguing or cool. ❞
❝ who’s to say what will happen in the future? ❞
❝ what am i supposed to do with all these feelings? ❞
❝ it was over before i even had a chance. ❞
❝ because sometimes you just feel sad and you can’t explain it. ❞
❝ it will get easier each time, i think. i hope. i just have to keep trying. ❞
❝ sometimes questions can be more cruel than insults. ❞
❝ it’s annoying how handsome he is. ❞
❝ oh, i used to lie all the time as a kid. ❞
❝ what is it with girls and rain? ❞
❝ there’s no use in asking what if. no one could ever give you the answers. ❞
❝ he looks at you a lot. when you’re not paying attention. ❞
❝ i hate when people say that they have something to tell you and they don’t just say it. ❞
❝ why is it so hard to say no to him? is this what it’s like to be in love with somebody? ❞
❝ i could make him mine. but i don’t want him. i want someone else. ❞
❝ i would have stayed. i would never have left you. ❞
❝ it’s kind of silly to feel so disappointed about something you only just realized you wanted, isn’t it? ❞
❝ i hate change more than almost anything. ❞

“Okay. I NEED a drink. Care to join me?” The male huffed out as he collapsed into a chair, “I was hooking up with this guy and his WIFE walked in. The fucker failed to mention that he was married…and to a woman. And I’m just grateful I still have all my balls.”
Obi-Wan raised one eyebrow, contemplating the young man before him for a brief moment. He’d never met this man -- hadn’t ever seen him before in his life -- and yet here he was, divulging this very personal story. “I’m sorry, do I know you?” he asked, setting aside the coffee cup that had been clasped in his hand. And then, after a moment: “Do you start all your conversations like this?”
“Sunny made the loudest growl she could, and pointed one of her tiny fingers at Count Olaf.”

bloomingrcsesx:
Transatlantic flights were some of the most tough flights one could go through. Not only were they excruciatingly long, but also they also just were so crowded it made Alexandra want to scream. But she got through it, and she finally arrived at JFK airport, finally just… feeling like home. She’d not been here in over a decade, and it felt just the same as it was before she left for Russia.
It was a given, the first thing Alexandra had to do as soon as she got off the plane was get coffee… my god Jet Lag was annoying. It was about 5 pm and she was falling asleep already, so she needed caffeine to get through the day, if not the weekend. So there she was, in a coffee shop in the airport, in the line, with her bag in her hand, nothing out of the ordinary- until she noticed the person in the line in front of her…
“Uhm… excuse me? You’ve, uh… you’ve got some toilet paper on your shoe-“ she half whispered, her slight German accent cracking through her lowered voice as she tapped the stranger’s shoulder lightly.
Chloé spent plenty of time at airports. Her mother was an important fashion designer, after all, and was constantly jetting around the world for her career. That was why she was there that very day, to meet her mother who was flying in from Spain. Her father was far too busy to take time away from his work to sit around an airport, and so Chloé would be the only member of the welcoming committee that day.
Standing in line for a caramel mocha, the blonde carefully adjusted her sunglasses. As she shifted her arms to grab her phone from her purse, she felt a tap upon her shoulder. She turned, one eyebrow raised at the woman who had decided to speak to her. “Excuse me?” she practically spat, her lips pursed. “Do you know who I am?” As if Chloé Bourgeois, the daughter of a fashion designer and a prominent New York politician would have toilet paper on her shoe. “That’s utterly ridiculous!”

HANNA MARIN IN EVERY PLL EPISODE
↳ SEASON 1 EPISODE 2: THE JENNA THING
get to know me meme, easy™ edition: [4/10] favourite female characters: Sunny Baudelaire (A Series of Unfortunate Events)
Sunny Baudelaire, the youngest, liked to bite things. She was an infant and very small for her age, scarcely larger than a boot. What she lacked in size, however, she made up for with the size and sharpness of her four teeth. Sunny was at an age where one mostly speaks in a series of unintelligible shrieks. Except when she used the few actual words in her vocabulary, like “bottle”, “mommy” and “bite”, most people had trouble understanding what it was that Sunny was saying. For instance, this morning, she was saying “Gack!” over and over, which probably meant, “Look at that mysterious figure emerging from the fog!”

“It must be quite a confidence boost. I enjoy cooking as well. Mostly Mexican dishes, but I make a mean double fudge brownie when the mood strikes and I need some chocolate.” He laughs, balling up the wrapper and throwing it away. “I’m an intermediate art curator at the Met so I know what I’m talking about when I say this is art. Then again, I guess anything can be art if there’s passion in it, and you have that in spades, young lady.”
“I can make a rather mean spring roll,” she replied, her voice light and airy, a pleasant smile on her face. “I’m a decent cook, really, but I’ve always preferred baking sweets to cooking more savoury dishes.” All kinds of food brought delight to people, but dessert always seemed to bring even more of a smile to a face. Her blush deepened as the man continued spewing compliments at her. “You work for the Met? That’s incredible. My parents loved art.” And literature, and music, and all of those fancy sort of things. “I’d love to come and take a look around some time. Could you give me a proper tour?”
dearestxmuses:
“No…I…that was a bad joke. I’m sorry.” He really had to stop day drinking. “Uh, a chocalate cake would be good, thanks.” He cleared his throat and pulled out his wallet to pay for his order. “Can I get a bottle of water, too, please?” He figured he should sober up a little if he was going to be eating here around someone who was probably still a child. “What will that cost?” He asks her awkwardly, no longer wanting to look her in the eyes for his stupid joke.
As an infant she’d been able to speak her mind freely -- the only ones that had been able to understand her baby babble had been her siblings. As she’d grown, she’d had to learn self-control. As a baby, Sunny might have said something along the lines of “you’re a strange man that I don’t want to speak to any longer”, but as a teenager she kept her thoughts to herself.
“A chocolate cake...” She turned to make herself busy, hoping that if she worked fast enough the man and his bizarre jokes might leave her store. “And a bottle of water.” She gathered up the items with ease, moving effortlessly through the bakery. “That’ll be eight dollars, sir.”
ofwhoville:
Martha almost politely refused again, but the cupcake looked particularly inviting and she was only so strong. She gave in with a little sigh and a growing smile. “They look amazing, I doubt I could say no even if I wanted to.” Taking the offered treat with a thanks, she asked out of curiosity, “Is baking a passion of yours, or just part of the job?”
“But why would you want to say no?” she asked, beaming far brighter than was necessary. Offering someone a treat for free always seemed to do the trick, and they inevitably came back for more, this time with their wallets out. “I’ve been baking since before I could talk,” she said, her smile only growing wider. “Literally. I discovered at a young age that making people smile with food was the best thing I could possibly do.”
