My Croatian Adventure

Back to school :(

It is one week after the internship, and the first day back on the school.

I am already missing Zadar, especially the good weather and of course the work at Futuro web design.

Filling up  the last work week!

This week we have been fine touching our app. We have been looking at how we could make our app look more professional en cleaner. Also we have added the game snake in our app.

It is very sad the internship stops friday :(

The last weekend :(

During our last weekend, we went exploring the beautifull island Preko. We went by a boat, this trip costs only 30 kuna wich is 4 euro. Preko is a beautifull Island but it’s very quiet when there is no tourism there. Almost every restaurant or bar was closed, and we we’re the only ‘tourists’ on the island. But that didn’t matter we just fell in love with the views.

What a crazy day, last saturday i lost my card at the bankomat, my card got retained and i went to the bank on sunday. They told me their that i needed to go to the big bank in the new city but my card would be their friday wich is very long. Yesterday i went to the bank and they told me they had not recieved it yet but when i was about to leave they said it just came in so i was so happy and after that i went to the fitness to relieve all the stress.

Living the good life

This week we have been working ofcourse. During our internship days we have upgraded our mobile app, we have added more functions to the app and made it look cleaner. Also after work we went spotting some beautifull boats, me and Cedric we’re really impressed about the size of this boats. And I went shopping on my own today in the local galleria of Zadar, it was pretty good.

The Weekend

Hi guys, in this blog i’m gonna be talking about what we’ve done in Zadar

I went exploring Zadar at my own in the mornings, because when i’m not a really long sleeper and i love it to just walk around and enjoy the little things :)

We also went out eating together with the whole group at a burger restaurant, these burgers we’re so good, i recommend it to everyone!

I love the food in Zadar but if u eat good food u need to compensate it ofcourse with some good excersise. I am falling for basketball here, in Belgium we got football but the main sport here is basketball and I love it!

We are doing great in Zadar

Helllo guys, this is a little update about my internship in Zadar.

I have learned a lot of new things at my internship place, like how to program Java script in octobercms with interested points on google maps. Overall i love my internship but the only downside is the way to get there. We go by bycyle and its almost the whole way uphill for 5km long but except that it is awesome here!

We also went to see the sunset here at the beach of Zadar and i have not seen anything that beautifull!

First internship day in Zadar!

On monday we had an introduction with our internship location. We introduced each other and ofcourse gave some good belgian chocolates!

We also went to a basketball game in the evening, this game was a really good experience and i have enjoyed it!

Arrival in Zadar

We have arrived yesterday in Zadar!

It was a long trip because we had to take 3 flights to get here. The first flight was from Brussels to Vienna, this flight was not so fun because we had zero legroom. The second flight was from Vienna to Zagreb, this was a little bit stressfull because we went with a propellor plane wich i had never done before and i have a little fly fear but i survived :)! The last flight was from Zagreb to Split this flight was not very long but very ear killing, This plane was so loud, but at the end we made it in Split. 

After our fly adventure we hired a car and went on a little trip to Zadar where we got to see our appartments and i love it! After we dropped everything off we went out eating in a local restaurant. It was delicious!

I am looking forward to my first day of my internship and these 3 weeks are gonna be awesome!

Fastest Electric car

When it comes to new sources of energy, you only need to go 20 km outside Zagreb to the bucolic village of Sveta Nedelja to find the world’s fastest electric car. This is where Mate Rimac makes his famous Concept One – the biggest competitor to the electric models made by Ferrari, Lamborghini and Porsche. When you are in Zagreb, don’t miss a chance to visit the Rimac factory.

Sadly enough we will not be able to visit this because we are travelling to Zadar, but I thought it was a great fact because I am a car enthusiast.

Fun facts about Zadar :)

NBA is a big thing in Amerika but did you know, the inhabitants of zadar are real fan(atic)s of basketball. It is Zadar’s number one sport and they even have their motto, “ God may have created a man, but Zadar created basketball! “.

The city grew into a trading center because of its graphical location. They’re very famous for their trading activities they’ve done in the Middle Ages.

Zadar is also famous for its architecture, mostly the influence came from the Roman Times. So today they’re many gates, towers and city walls that i would love to go and visit.

Our Crib in Zadar

During the information evening we have gotten more information about where we are staying during our internship in Zadar. We have two apartments for me and 5 other students. 

Bram, Dirk and Rutger are going to stay in this apartment, in this apartment is room for 6 people so there is more than enough space. It’s located in the old city of Zadar from Roman times.

Me, Cedric and Michiel stay in this apartment, there is room for 4 people. It’s also located in the old city of Zadar and the apartments are located 500 meter from each other.

Information evening Zadar

The fourteenth of January we have been given more information about our internship at the information evening at Sint Maria Geel. 

This evening was very good organized and done very well. First we got a speech from the school head and after that we got information about the rules, finance, and a lot more general information. After this every country grouped and here we got more information about the place we stay, the flights,...

I’m looking forward to this internship!

Gastronomy in Zadar

 Mlinci is macoroni with turkey, this is a typical meal for the Croatien, and it looks very good.

Brodet & Paticada is an delicious fish meal, this is a stew of various fish with onions and tomatoes. All sort of fish can be used in this meal.

Kulen is a typical starten in Croatia , it is a mix of pepper and salami. People who love hot food will enjoy this for sure!

My internship company

I am doing my internship at a webdesign studio called ‘Futuro’. This studio is located 6km from the apartment, we will go there by bicycle.

Futuro is an internet studio who has over 15 years of experience in webdesign and development. They’ve made websites for multiple companies like for example: basketball.hr, Zadar Airport, Hotel Bastion, and much more companies.

3 Activities in Zadar

You can go visit the sea organ, this is an art object and as the waves of the sea hit against this organ, it will make music.

Second you can admire the waterfalls of Krka National Park, this park is open all year round and in the summer you can even swim in the bottom part.

The best for last, the sun salutations of Zadar , this is a lightshow where the lighting effects are linked in some way with the sea organ, the two plants together and interact with nature. In the weekend they’re often parties here.

And there is much more to visit!
