Blog Post 9
How does your perception of Bowe change in second episode of Serial? What new information do we learn? Which way is Koenig trying sway us as an audience? What is the evidence for this? Remember the minimum word requirement.Â
Blog 8
For this blog, you will summarize the feedback you received on the article summary and rhetorical analysis proposal, then discuss how you will address this feedback in the rhetorical analysis paper.Â
Blog Post 7
What is Sedarisâs argument about gay marriage? Find where you think he states this in the article, and then find/state his evidence. How is he making this claim? Why is it hidden in the article instead of in the intro?Â
Finally, how would you describe his style? What ethos does he gain by adopting this persona?
Blog 6
For this blog, as noted on the syllabus, find a published example of a logical fallacy. Note what your source is (provide a description and/or link), explain what the fallacy is, and your evidence for labeling it as such.Â
Blog 5
Pick any Superbowl commercial from this year and apply the rhetorical triangle to it. Who is the audience? What is the message (go beyond âbuy our productâ)?Who is the speaker, and why? Finally, what appeals to ethos, logos, and pathos do you see?
Blog 4
For this blog, compare the two articles we have read this week (âWhy I Wonât Apologizeâ and âExplaining White Privilegeâ). How does each define privilege? What are the audiences they are targeting? How can you tell?
Blog Post 3
For this post, first summarize the main argument from âIf You Shouldnât Call it the Third World, What Should You Call It?â. Next, apply the rhetorical triangle to the essay. Who is the audience? What is the message? Who is/are the speaker(s)? Why?
Blog Post 2
What are the 4 steps Savini explains in âLooking for Troubleâ? Apply them to something--ie, a commercial on tv, something youâve read, the space of our classroom, the library, etc.Â
Welcome!
Hello class,Â
Here is the blog for WRD 111 027. For your first post (due Friday), there are two parts: first, tell me a little more about yourself. Where are you from, whatâs something unique about you, etc. Finally, tell me about a current event or controversy thatâs happening in the world right now that you find interesting, and why youâre interested in it. This could range from the inauguration, to the refugee crisis, to the Webb brothers and the giant pit in downtown Lexington. Whatâs your position on this issue? Why?
Make sure that your post meets the requirements listed in the syllabus.Â
