Did you ever truly expect a happy ending?
After years of being lost upon the sea,
staring up at the endless blanket of stars,
mapping your way back home, awake in the dark
a cat curled in your lap as you banished any panic attacks
both tears and a smile on your face as the memories slowly elapsed
back into your mind, memories of a time, when things were at least
But now they're more than alright
you're in your partners arms tonight,
arms that have not held you in a terrifyingly long amount of time,
arms that are almost too warm for you to relax,
because in a moment's instant, you might wake up and realize
that you never had them back.
But they're real, they're here,
holding you close and warm
with kisses on your scars and sweet words upon their tongues'
with smiles as bright as quartz in the light,
and eyes glittering like all the stars in the sky,
you hum a thought into the night,
ever so grateful for the stars in the sky.
