“My own scarlet fever, my sweet believer” part 1

Summary: The year is 1978. Corroded coffin is the biggest band in the rock/metal scene. Eddie munson is living the dream. Scarlet Vespera just found her way onto the music scene. Just started to shine under the spotlight. What happens when these two are thrown into the same studio?

Eddie munson was on top of the fucking world. 

Corroded coffin was topping the charts and couldn’t seem to stop. You either hated him, wanted to be him, or fuck him. Sometimes all three. He was the typical rockstar that couldn’t go a minute without getting in trouble. He was the definition of “The infamous man”.

But fame never lasted long when the main songwriter was on indefinite writer's block.

Thankfully that all seemed to change on the afternoon of August 12th, 1978. It had rained the night before so the morning air was hazy and gray. Waiting for the sun. 

Corroded coffin was sitting in their managers office.He had called them in for a surprise meeting.

“You want us to what?” Eddie almost shouts from hearing his managers seemingly outrageous request.

 “I want you to collab with Scarlet Versepa” Donavan says again. 

“You’re fucking crazy if you think we’re doing a collab with that.....that Hippie Vixen” Eddie says before taking out a cigarette and lighting it.

“That hippie vixen has ears you know” A hypnotic voice says from the once closed door. 

They all turn around to find her.

Scarlet Versepa. 

Her warm brown skin shinned even in the bleak weather. Her afro was larger than life, Somehow larger than the tinted aviators sitting on the bridge of her nose. 

Eddie’s mouth seemed to dry up at the sight of her. 

I mean who wouldn’t be. Scarlet Versepa was the definition of confidence. Even if she didn’t believe it.

“But I prefer to go by Scarlet” She says taking off her sunglasses and shoving them into the pocket of her brown suede fur lined coat. Faux of course. 

The coat matched her dark brown flared jeans.

Her platform boots clacked every time they hit the hardwood floor when she walked.

Gareth couldn’t hide his laughter when he saw the dumbfounded look on Eddie’s face seeing Scarlet about to take the open seat next to him. 

“Good seeing you Donavan but you know how much I hate how hot you make it in here” She says before taking off the coat and sitting it on the back off the leather chair. It revealed the black velvet tank top underneath.

“Always a pleasure Scar” Donavan says.

“Same here” Scarlet answers back.

“So back to what I was saying.....I think it would be in every parties best interest to have some sort of collab,a couple singles maybe even an EP.....” 

Before taking another drawl from his cigarette, Eddie, finally spoke for the first time since seeing Scarlet. 

“We can’t say no can we...” Eddie asks, rhetorically. 

Donavan answers with a laugh. 

“I have a studio booked for tomorrow, 10:30 AM be there or I’ll ruin your career” Donavan says.

 “Sounds great I already have some songs ready” Scarlet says.

“Like anyone would want to hear them” Eddie whispered under his breath 

“Much better than having no songs” Scarlet said back making Eddie go silent.

After a minute of tension filled silence Scarlet got up from her chair and threw her coat back on.

“See you later Munson” Scarlet says putting her aviators back over her illuminating brown eyes. 

Or what Eddie would call the most beautiful shade of brown. As if he’s really seen brown for the first time in his life.

“Whatever Vixen” Is all he can bring himself to utter as she walked out of the room not looking back. 

“$20 says they’re gonna bone in a week” Gareth whispers to Jeff handing him a $20.

“I say a month” Jeff whispers back, taking the 20 and shoving it into his back pocket. 

“See you tomorrow Don” Eddie says before putting out his cigarette on the closest ash tray and getting up from his seat.

All he could think about as he walked out of the building with his band was how this was going to ruin them.

Ruin him. 

I mean who wanted to listen to that hippie bullshit anymore? Especially from such a....a...a woman like Scarlet. 

As he drove the band to their homes Eddie started to wonder why he couldn’t stop thinking about her. Why every thought found a way of circling back to her. 

“Eddie? Did you hear me?” Jeff says from the passenger seat.

“Huh? No sorry.....spaced out” Eddie answers.

“Well I wanted to know what you really thought sense it’s just us now....” 

“......I hate it....I hate her”

“Why? You don’t even know her” Jeff asks.

“I don’t need to….she just….I don’t know just forget it” Eddie says pulling up to Jeff’s house.

“Okay dude see you tomorrow” Jeff says getting out of his car.

It was 10:26 AM and everyone was at the studio. Everyone except for Scarlet. No one could reach her.

“See why I didn’t want to collaborate with her….” Eddie whispers right before a smiling Scarlet rushes into the room.

“Sorry I’m late, the batteries in my alarm went dead and then there was traffic-“

“I doubt anyone cares” Eddie whispered loud enough for everyone to hear.

“And I doubt I asked you…..so you gonna keep wasting time or record this song?” Scarlet shots back at him as she sits her bag on the closest chair. 

All Eddie could do was smile and shake his head in defeat.

It had barely been 5 minutes into trying to record the new song Scarlet wrote before her and Eddie were at each other's throats. 

They just couldn’t seem to agree. 

Eddie hated the lyrics. Scarlet hated the way he was singing them. 

Donavan had decided the best idea was to take a 15 minute break so everyone could calm down. 

But that only seem to make things worse. 

“What are you doing?” Eddie asked.

“Singing the fucking song” Scarlet says, irritation filling her voice. 

“You sure?” Eddie asks, looking for any way to get under her skin. 

That seemed to have done it.

“Fuck you” Scarlet yelled before throwing her headphones to the ground and barging out of the studio. 

“Jesus Eddie” Donavan whispers before running right after Scarlet.

Even though a smirk had found it’s way on to Eddie’s face he couldn’t block out the deep feeling of regret as he watched her pack up her things and basically run out of the studio.

“Scarlet Please come back I’m begging you” Donavan says as Scarlet pulls out the keys to her dark blue mustang. 

“Eddie’s always a hard ass to new people....it just takes time” Donavan says.

“He’s a grown man, he needs to act like one” Scarlet says opening the door and getting into the driver's seat.

“Please Scar...please” Don says looking into her eyes. 

“No no I’m not going back in there.....I’m sorry Don” Scarlet says before shutting the door and driving off.

“FUCK” Don yells seeing her drive out of the parking lot. 

It’s not long before he’s storming back into the studio and ready to take off Eddie’s head.

“What the fuck is wrong with you?” Don asks seeing the band start to pack their  shit and leave. 

“What’d you expect man-”

“NO Eddie shut the fuck up and listen to me....you need to do this given the fact that everyone in the world HATES you-”

“That’s not true”

“Really? When was the last time you booked anything? Where’s the next album? Have you even written a single word for it?” Donavan yells.

Eddie goes quiet and his skin starts to turn red from the embarrassment. No one else dared to speak.

“Fix this shit or you’re fired” Donavan says before storming out leaving the group in silence. 

The worst part was that everything Don said was completely true. Sure they were famous but fame never lasted long. 

Especially for a man like Eddie munson.

Thanksgiving dinner

pt. 9

Rodrick and Gina are currently sitting in a small dinner about to finish their meals when an idea popped into Gina’s head. The idea had been forming almost ever since they had got together.

 But now that thanksgiving was right around the corner it was harder than ever to not at least ask.

“I think it’s time that i got to meet your parents” Gina says making rodrick choke on his drink.

“You already have” He says trying to recover.

“I know I know....but like...as your girlfriend” Gina says mindlessly playing with a loose strand from the bottom of her shirt.

Rodrick was about to say no but then he realized that there really wasn’t a good reason not and he was tired of always sneaking her in all the time. 

“Let’s do it” He says causing both of them to smile.

The day was finally here and Rodrick was beyond unprepared. He couldn’t find his “good clothes”, woke up late, and to top it all off completely forgot that Gina was coming over. 

But then the doorbell had rung even after all of his relatives were already there. And it wasn’t until he opened the door and saw Gina in a pale pink dress and looking sunday ready with her ballet flats, that he remembered she was supposed to come over.

Rodrick forgot to breath seeing her in the simple light pink floral dress. The matching cardigan made him wonder who was standing at his front door.

But the kiss she had planted on his cheek reminded him. 

“You’re gonna hate me for this but I-”

“Completely forgot I was coming?” Gina answered stepping into the house.

Ashamed Rodrick hung his head refusing to look up from the floor.

“You’re good don’t worry....I almost forgot I was coming too” Gina says before pulling him in for a real kiss by the collar of his button up. 

“You look...”

“Like my grandma I know, I know.....I wanted to be a little more dressed up when officially meeting your family” Gina says.

Rodrick hated that she felt the need to change but he understood. His parents were nice but a little old fashioned. 

“You ready?” 

“As I’ll ever be” Gina answers before Rodrick gives her on last kiss then takes her hand. He leads her into the living room where everyone seemed to magically appear. 

Rodrick and Gina both take in deep breaths. 

“Everyone.....my...this is my girlfriend, Gina” Rodrick says putting a comforting arm around her shoulders to ease both of their nerves. 

Everybody in the room was in a state of shock at the revelation. Gina held up her hand for a quick wave. 

The only one to return is Greg with a shit eating grin on his face. 

“Gina, my family” Rodrick says gesturing towards the shocked crowd in front of them. 

“Oh wow...Nice to see you again Gina” Mrs. Heffley says trying her best to ease the tension.

“You too Mrs.Heffley” Gina says.

Not much was said after that. Just more awkward silence and stares.

It was like that until dinner.

Dinner was going pretty okay if you called complete silence okay.

“Um so Gina....I love your dress” Mrs. Hefley let’s out in hope’s of breaking the silence.

“Oh thank you Mrs. Hefley...it was my mother’s”

“Well tell your mother I said she has superb taste in fashion”

“Will do” Gina says with a smile on her face before 

It was silent for a while until Mr.Hefley finally raised his voice. 

“So when did you two start....going steady?” Mr. Heffley asked making Rodrick choke on his drink. 

Gina tries to stifle her laughter as Rodrick did his best to recover.

“For 3 months” They both say in unison making the other smile ear to ear. 

Rodrick finally places his hand over Gina’s resting on the table before saying “Happiest 3 months of my life” while never breaking his gaze from Gina as she digs in for another bite of her food. 

It was silent again until a question popped into Mrs.Heffley’s head that she just couldn’t ignore.

“So Gina are you missing thanksgiving with your family? Because I would hate for that to happen especially because of us-” 

“Oh no um my family is going to eat later on tonight so I won’t be missing out on anything” Gina answered before taking a sip of her water. 

“Oh thank god” Mrs.Heffley says letting out a relieved sigh. 

Again they go back to silent eating. It wasn’t until about 30 minutes later that someone finally spoke out loud. 

“So I hate to cut this night short but I think it’s time I get going” Gina says as she wipes at the corners of her mouth 

“You sure? It was amazing having you here” Mrs.Heffley asks as Gina gets up from her seat.

Rodrick follows quickly after. 

“Yes I’m sorry but I don’t want to be late to my family’s thanksgiving” Gina says back. 

“Oh well let’s walk you out” Mrs. Heffley says getting out of her seat and motioning for Mr. Heffley to follow.

It’s not long before the four find themselves at the front door of the Heffley house hold. 

“Thank you for having me over” Gina says before Mrs.Heffley pulls her into a bear hug. 

“It was really nice meeting you Gina, please come over more we loved having you here” Mes. Heffley says before letting Gina out of the bear like hug. 

“I’ll make sure of it, thank you for being so kind” Gina says before Rodrick opens the front door. 

They walk out waving goodbye to everyone.

The walk back to Gina’s was completely silent until Gina finally blurts out.

“I love you” 

It shocks Rodrick to his core. Sure he might have known but hearing her say it made him lock in place on the sidewalk.

Gina turns around to find a shell shocked Rodrick a couple steps behind.

Before she can get another word out Gina is engulfed in Rodrick’s arms as he lifts off the ground and spins her around.

The movement makes endless giggles fall out of Gina’s mouth.

“God I love you too” He says before pulling her in for another kiss and gently placing her back on the ground. 

“I love you so much” Rodrick says before peppering her in kisses. 

All they can do is laugh on the way to Gina’s house.

Just got to page 90 in “I’m glad my mom died” by Jennette McCurdy and.......oh my god. Like it’s genuinely such a hard part to read and I’ve had to take like MULTIPLE breaks because of it.

i love the concept of black readers. i love black ocs in fanfiction. i love that there's just some mini spaces for black fans. too much anti-blackness, white-centering, white favorism and lack of care for black fans in fanfiction and fandoms. there's always so little of xblk!readers or blk ocs but i'm so comforted by the fact that there is some readers, ocs, and people i can relate too.

i love that there's so much more people than i thought that don't just relate to me when it comes to culture, but relates to me when it comes to the awareness of fandom and fanfiction anti-black issues.

which is why its always sad bae hours when you realize there's no xblk!reader fics in your fandom, no fics with any black!ocs in your fandom, no black!reader various-fandom collections with your fandom in it, or even barely any black writers in your fandom.

and even when you're the people doing pumping out content for black readers and/or make safe spaces for black fans, it can get so lonely knowing you're one of the only ones.

if that's what happen to you; i hear you loud and clear hun. currently going through that as well. just know there's other black fans that relate to you. the struggles are real but you'll get through it, maybe, eventually. and even if you don't, its okay.

Shout out to all the black fans with no reader fics you'll relate to.

Shout out to all the black fans that keep pushing through the anti-blackness and lack of care for them in the fandom.

Shout out to all the black fans that write xblackreader fics or black oc fics nobody else in your fandom ever does.

Shout out to all the black fans that have no space for other black fans in their fandom.

Shout out to all the black writers or fans that gave up in looking for content for them to relate to, or gave up in creating black!oc or black!reader fanfiction for the sake of themselves and/or others can relate to; you've done well, you deserve as much credit as black fans that currently contribute to black representation in fandoms. you didn't give up, you were tired. and that's okay.

Shout out to all the black fans that moved to another fandom because of the lack of black spaces, black fans or black writers. It's always so tiring and disappointing knowing your old fandom have none of what your new fandom has; but at least in your new fandom you may feel more appreciated and accepted.

black fans and writers deserve to be respected and appreciated.

What’s her problem?

Pt 8

School was always hell, especially when you had broken the “Golden girl’s” nose and gave her a black eye. 

Heather had been milking it all weekend, always finding a way to leave out the part where she had started the whole thing and pulled on Gina’s hair when she tried to walk away. 

Gina already seemed to be the talk of the school but this just made everything ten times worst. There was no where she could go that didn’t have everyone staring at her. 

And since it was close to the holidays her friends had already left to visit family so she felt alone during most of the school day. 

It only seemed to get worse when Rodrick was around. It didn’t take a genius to know what people were thinking of her. 

Apparently the biggest rumor to come out of everything was that Gina had stollen Rodrick from Heather and then beat her up just to rub it in her face.

It never seemed like it was getting any better until friday when she sat down for lunch. Rodrick felt like shit when he woke up so he stayed home so Gina was beyond ready to go home. 

“Stealer” Gina heard a group of girls whisper as they passed by her, soon followed by them laughing their asses off as they walked out of the cafeteria. 

 “Fucking bitches....” Gina whispers as she begins to open up her lunch box. 

“I was there...” A voice says beside Gina. Gina’s neck had never moved faster until that moment.

“I’m sorry?” Gina asked to the shy girl sitting next to her. Her black curls were covering most of her face. 

“I was there and I recorded the whole thing basically....I can send it to you” The girl says fully turning to Gina. It’s then when Gina realize she looks familiar.  

“You are a total lifesaver....what’s your name?” Gina asked as the girl pulls her phone out of her back pocket and hands it to Gina. 

“Clara Valentine” She answers.

“Wait don’t we have a class together? English right?” 

“Yeah, yeah we do” Clara says with a smile. 

“I’m really sorry for how everyone’s been treating you...it’s fucking bullshit” Clara says as Gina programed her number into her phone. 

“It’s just some shit heather would do...I can’t believe I used to be friends with that pasty bitch” Gina says thinking about how her and Heather used to be straight up inseparable until the beginning of sophomore year.  

“Can I guess what happened?” 

“Yeah I bet....my bag of chips you get it right” Gina says making Clara laugh. 

“Classic case of childhood friend getting ditched for popularity?” Clara guessed.

“Ding ding ding we have a winner” Gina says taking the bag of Doritos out of her lunch box and handing them to Clara. 

“Damn...That’s the worst....and with all this other shit she did too...yeah Heather Hills is definitely the fucking devil” Clara says making Gina laugh for what felt like the first time in forever. 

“Speak of the devil...” Gina whispers as she sees Heather and her friends walk towards them.

Gina didn’t think much of it until Heather had stopped right in front of them.

“You need something?” Clara asks.

“Yeah actually...an apology would be nice” Heather says making Gina burst out laughing.

“Bitch are you serious? The only apology I’d give you is a matching black eye” Gina says getting up from her seat. 

The action had seemed to make Heather back down because all she could do was huff before walking away.

“You are such a badass” Clara says as Gina sits back down.

“I can only dream” Gina says.

“Not to sound rude cause I know my tone can be a little mean sometimes but why were you at the show?” Gina asks.

“Oh um I was just...don’t tell anyone but I kinda have this crush on ward and we’ve been hanging out lately so I was just there for him” Clara says feeling her cheeks heat up. 

“Oh my god girl that man is like in love with you” 

“No”

“Yes he won’t shut up about you, Rodrick’s keeps threatening to kick him out of the band if he doesn't ask you out already” Gina says making the smile on Clara’s lips grow larger. 

Before Clara could get another word out the bell had rung and everyone was getting up to head to class. 

“Oh shit....it was really nice officially meeting you...I’ll see you around and remember to text me” Gina says as she starts to grab her stuff and get up from her seat. 

“Oh yeah see ya later” Clara says before they both walk off to their classes. 

The rest of the day wasn’t so bad and seemed to go by thankfully bad. Meeting Clara had really turned her day around in the best way possible. 

When the last bell of the day rang Gina was damn near sprinting out of the school. Rodrick had texted her that he could still pick her up. 

As she waited patiently for him to pull up she saw Clara sitting on a bench drawing in a notebook. 

“Hey Clara, you need a ride home?” 

“Oh hey Gina...sure if whoever is picking you up is cool with it” 

“Oh yeah Rodrick doesn’t care as long as you give him gas money” Gina says making her laugh.

“How was the rest of your day?” Clara ask stuffing her notebook and pens back into her book bag. 

“Pretty good actually”

“No run ins with the devil?” Clara ask making Gina laugh.

“Thankfully no but you know she always finds a way to appear when you refer to her” Gina says before finally seeing Rodrick’s van pull up. 

“Our ride is finally here” Gina says before leading the way to the van and getting into the passenger seat.

“Hey babe” Rodrick says before pulling her in for a quick kiss.

“Hey Clara” Rodrick says looking in the rear view mirror to find her almost in shock from Ward already in the back of the van.

“Hey Rodrick....Hey Ward” She says shyly sitting her stuff down.

“Hey Clara” Ward replys, a blush rising in his cheeks. 

As they start to ride off Gina shoves Rodrick from laughing at the awkwardness in behind them. The hit only makes him laugh more. 

It’s thankfully not long before Rodrick’s head was on Gina’s lap in the back of his van outside of a skate park. 

“Those two need to get together asap” Gina says as she plays with Rodrick’s hair. 

“You’re telling me”  Rodrick replies, laughter filling his lungs. 

“Oh my god you are not gonna believe what happened today”

“What happened?”

“Okay so during lunch I found Clara and we were talking but then Heather and her fucking posey walked up to our table and basically asked me for an apology” 

“No fucking way” He says sitting up to look her in the eye. 

“What’d you say?”

“That the only apology I’d give her is another black eye” Gina says making Rodrick laugh before pulling her in for a kiss. 

“That’s my girl” He says when they pull away.

Gina was watching an episode of Jersey shore when her phone buzzed from her sweatpants pocket. She opened it expecting it to be Rodrick but was happily shocked to find that it was Clara that had texted her.

‘Hey it’s Clara’ the text read and Gina was almost jumping for joy at the sight. 

‘Hey’ Gina texted back.

‘Here’s the video’ followed by a 2 minute video.

‘Thanks’ Gina texted back.

Nerves started to set in as Gina pressed play. It was in fact just like she remembered, or at least what she could remember.

It even showed Heather walking up to her and staring her down like Gina had killed her dog. Her glare was getting a little terrifying after a while. 

What really shocked Gina was how hard she had repeatedly punched her in the eye before slamming her head into the side of the bar.

The video stopped right after Rodrick had grabbed her and dragged her out the bar. The amount of blood flowing from Heather’s nose and bruises covering her face made Gina a little guilty. 

Tears started well up in her eyes as she remembered how close they were before high school. 

All the sleepovers, secrets, and promise they made officially meant nothing. They were just bitter memories that saturated Gina’s mind. 

But after watching the video a couple times and crying a few tears the only thing Gina wanted to do was go to sleep. The exhaustion from everything really started to set in. 

It wasn’t much of a surprise when she woke up on the couch the next morning with the TV still playing in the background. 

But all that was on her mind as she head back up into her room was what to do with the video or maybe it was more of a question of how. 

Decisions, decisions, decisions.

The day was finally here, Gina was finally going to see Rodrick play with his band on stage. 

Live.

She had ransacked her whole room for any article of black clothing. All she found was a 6 year old black shirt with a skull on it and a red and black plaid mini skirt she swore she would never wear again.

She felt like everything was gonna bust at the seems as she bent over to tie her old doc martens she had to go to her attic to find. 

Nerves start to set in as she started on her makeup. The millions of questions and insecurities started to fill her mind as she applied the black eyeshadow.But they seemed to disappear as she remembered who she was doing this for. That skinny, white, drummer boy that she loved with all her heart.

It wasn’t long before Gina was stepping outside to find Rodrick leaning against the front door of his van mindlessly playing a game on his phone. 

“Hey stranger” Gina says walking closer to him. 

“Hey- wow you look amazing” Rorick says before putting his phone into his back pocket and pulling her in for a kiss. 

“Thanks” Gina says almost breathless after having to pry herself away from him.

“This is gonna be a weird request but can you please do my eyeliner, I left mine at home and I know you never forget yours-”

“Yes Rodrick I will help you” Gina says stopping him from rambling on any more.

He pulled her in for one last kiss before running to the passenger door and opening it for Gina. It wasn’t long before they had pulled up the venue and Gina was on top of Rodrick doing his eyeliner in a room in the back. 

Rodrick was entranced as Gina was lasered focused at getting the perfect amount of eyeliner on his lower lids. He was focused most on her hair. She had gotten new braids and he was beyond in love with them. 

The blonde with pink underneath put him under a trance whenever he saw her.  

“You keep looking at me like that I just might have to kiss you...” Gina threatened as she put the cap back on the eyeliner pencil and admired her handy work. 

Without thinking Rodrick had grabbed her by the back of her neck and pulled her in for a kiss. The action had damn near winded her as she did her best to stabilize herself against him.

“Oh my god Rodrick” Gina says, fake annyonce filling her tone as she pulled away and stood up. 

“Were on in 5 get your ass out her Rodrick” Warren yelled from the doorway. 

“Coming” Rodrick yells back standing up and leading Gina backstage.

“Knock ‘em dead” Gina says before giving him a kiss on the cheek then running back to her spot in the surprising busy crowd. 

Gina shortly realized why the crowd was so big, And why it seemed to be filled with mostly girls.

He was a god on those drums. The way his sticks twirled around his slender fingers made Gina’s jaw hit the floor. She was quite literally drooling at the sight.

Most of the set was a blur, a lot of originals and a couple of covers. 

The part Gina remembered the most was the second to last song. It was the song Rodrick played every time she had been over for band practice but refused to tell her the title of. 

It was the song that he made sure to play whenever they were driving around in his van. 

The second the first note hit her ears Gina almost fainted at the sound. If she wasn’t going feral before seeing the smirk on Rodrick’s face as he played his heart out on those drums seemed to do the trick.

It wasn’t long before Gina was running to meet rodrick backstage. Rodrick almost fell to the floor from the force of Gina’s hug.

“You were amazing up there” Gina says as she puts herself back on the ground and lays her arms around his neck. 

“Thanks” He says before pulling her in for another kiss.

“I gotta help the guys put the equipment away, It’ll be quick” Rodrick says knowing Ward was gonna start yelling his name soon. 

“Okay okay, I’ll be at the bar” Gina says before giving him one last kiss and heading to the bar. 

Gina had been waiting by the bar sipping on a canned sprite for a couple minutes when a girl had walked up  right next to her, sizing her up it seemed. Gina did her best to ignore but after a while the girl’s gaze felt like it was burning her skin.

“Can I help you?” Gina finally asked.

“Oh no just looking at my competition...”

“I’m sorry?” Gina asked venom seeping through her tone.

It was only then when she fully turned to look at the girl and realize that it was in fact Heather Hills.

“Oh come on girl you know Rodrick’s only with you so he can get some-”

But she couldn’t even finish her sentence before Gina started laughing her ass off knowing what she was about to say. 

“Okay Heather whatever you need to tell yourself” Gina says starting to walk off but before she knew she was getting yanked back by her hair.

It wasn’t until Rodrick was pulling her off a bleeding and bruised Heather, Gina realized she had blacked out. 

“Jesus christ....” Rodrick whispered as he rushed her out of the place and back into his van.

“Gina what happened? Are you okay?” Rodrick asked as Gina tried to steady her breathing.

“All I remember was her pulling my hair when i tried walking away....” 

“Let’s just....please get in the car Gina, I’ll be right back” Rodrick says finally making her sit in the passenger seat. 

Tears started to well up in her eyes as Rodrick gently closes the door and walks back into the now complete chaotic bar. 

It seemed like everyone was fighting anybody as he looked for his friends and bandmates.

“RODRICK” He hears Chris’s voice yell making him turn around to find both him and ward.

“Guys I’m-”

“Dude it’s just rock and roll you’re good” Ward yells over all the fighting.  

“Ay it’s cool go to your girl well handle it” Chris follows up before Rodrick could get a word out. 

Rodrick was damn sprinting back to his van. His heart almost broke in two when he opened the drivers door and saw Gina crying in the passenger seat. 

“Hey Gina don’t cry it’s gonna be okay...” Rodrick says after he gets into his seat and closed the door. 

“I can’t- I don’t remember anything.....what happened in there?” Gina asked tears still falling down her face. 

“Gina you beat her fucking ass- Uh no I mean that-”

“Rodrick please just tell me what you saw” Gina pleads.

He takes in a deep sigh before recounting everything he say. 

“I just remember I was walking in to come and get you and people were shouting and shit and everyone was circled up by the bar....you were on top of her and just beating her face into the ground...”

“Oh my god.......”

“Hey it’s gonna be okay let’s just take you home....good thing she’s got all the money in the world to fix her nose” Rodick says slightly lightning the mood.

After a long pause of silence passes Gina finally speaks. 

“You looked good up there by the way...”

“Forreal? No bullshit?” 

“Nope....I understand why Heather wants you so bad”

“Why would that matter to me when you’re all that I need and want? Huh?” Rodrick asks, half jokingly as they pull into their neighborhood.

“Mine or your house tonight?” Rodrick asks.

“Um yours already told my parents i was staying at Jennifer’s tonight...” 

“Oh we got a little rebel on our hands now” Rodrick says making Gina laugh as he turns into his driveway.

Once they get inside Rodrick is basically dragging her to the upstairs bathroom to clean her up. He quickly picked her up and sat her on the sink counter before searching for the first aid kit. 

“there’s just a small cut on your eyebrow” Rodrick answers after Gina asked why they were there.

Gina had never seen Rodrick look so beautiful as he was gingerly cleaning her cut. The bathroom light above them seemed to give him a halo. 

It wasn’t that much of a surprise when she pulled him by the collar of his shirt. Rodrick complete forgot about the cut as he melted into the taste of her lips and her soft hands wrapping around his neck.

He pulled her in impossible tighter by waist, complete taking her off the counter. 

Rodrick could only seemed to come up for air when they were in his room and Gina helped him out of his shirt. 

Gina felt like she was under a spell as Rodrick pulled her back in for another kiss and led her to his bed. She only seemed to come out of it when he had gently pulled off her shirt. 

Everything seemed to move so slowly but so fast. Gina was stuck thinking all the insecurities that filled her mind.

“Hey Gina......you okay?” Rodrick asked noticing her state of shock. He gently moved his hands up from her waist to the sides of her face.

“We don’t have to.....you know...”

“Yes...Yeah I know but I don’t want to....to....”

“To what Gina? You gotta talk to me” Rodrick says worry starting to set in. 

Gina hesitated for a only a moment.

“I don’t want you......to leave me cause I’m making you wait..”

Tears started to well up in Rodrick’s eyes as he slowly moved Gina off his lap and sat her next to him. Gina started to hide her face but Rodrick was quick to grab on to his wrist and lightly hold them in is hands. 

“Gina I need you to listen to me and never forget what I’m about to say.....I will never leave, especially not for that reason”

“I meant it when I said we don’t ever have to do that....I am more than happy just to be around you and being able to hold your hand....I’m surprised I haven’t fainted just from the thought of it” 

Rodrick hadn’t realized tears had started fall from his eyes until Gina started to wipe them away. 

“You hear me?” Rodrick asks noticing Gina finally being able to look him in the eyes.

“Yeah...yes I hear you” Gina says before placing a small peck on his lips. 

Rodrick gets up and walks over to his closet. He returns with pajamas he kept just for Gina for when she slept over.

 “Let’s just get ready for bed” Rodrick says before placing a kiss on her forehead and walking back into the bathroom. 

Gina knew for sure she was truly in love with Rodrick as she heard him turn on the shower. 

The rest of that night is silent up until they’re about to go to sleep. They’re in bed cuddling when she remembers the question that had been fighting to leave her mouth for a while now.

“What’s the name of that song? It was the second to last one I think” Gina finally asked.

Rodrick’s eyes blew wide remembering it. 

“Oh it’s um ‘The new national anthem’ by Pierce the veil.....”

“Oh cool....why’d you play it?” 

“Cause I couldn’t jump off that stage and kiss you....” 

Those words make heat rise up into Gina’s ears and cheeks.   

“Goodnight Rodrick”

“Goodnight Gina” Rodrick replies before reaching over and planting one last kiss on her cheek.

The ups and downs of partying

Pt. 6

It was officially 2 months of Rodrick and Gina being together and almost everybody knew. Mainly from the fact they couldn’t shut up about each other, especially when it came to Rodrick.

With halloween right around the corner and a huge house party an old friend of Gina’s was throwing on the same day all she could think about was how to convince Rodrick to go with her. 

Currently sitting in his room and on top of him on his bed Gina was doing everything in her power to convince him to not stay home that night. 

“Rodrick please it’s halloween and it’s just one party” Gina pleads as she straddles Rodrick’s waist.

 Rodrick let a light laugh as he placed his hands on each side of Gina’s hips. 

“If I kiss you, will you stop asking?”

“If I let you will you go with me?” Gina counters,

Rodrick softly placed his hand on the back of Gina’s neck and head then gently pulled her down until she was inches away from his lips. 

“Yes..but i’m not dressing up” Rodrick says when he pulls her in for a kiss 

It sends a surge of giggles out of Gina when they pull away before she answers with “I thought you would say that Soooo all you have to do is where a white shirt, some black pants, and a blue tropical button up” making a smile spread on Rodrick’s face.

“That sounds a lot like dressing up....but I’ll do my best” Rodrick says pulling her in for another kiss.

The night was here and Rodrick was pacing back in forth in Gina’s room as he waited for her to come back into her room. The tag on tropical blue button up he had found at a thrift store was starting to really irk him and all he wanted was to see Gina. 

Mainly so he wouldn’t have to guess what he was supposed to be.

“I’ll be out in a second” Gina yelled through the door of her bathroom connected to her room. 

“Okay” He yelled back his pacing finally coming to an end when he started to hear her clean up and open the door. 

Rodrick’s jaw was damn near on the floor when Gina walked out the bathroom. 

The white dress and wings was making him go feral in the best way as she ran over to her pink standing mirror and did a couple twirls. And the way her curls were pulled into a half up - half down ponytail made him feel as though he was gonna faint. 

“Well? what do you think?” Gina asked stopping to look at Rodrick.

“I um....I love y- It, I love it, you look amazing” Rodrick said hoping she didn’t hear his mistake. 

“Thank you” Gina says pulling him in for a kiss.

“And you look absolutely dashing by the way....thank you for dressing up” Gina says when they pull looking down at his attempt at Romeo. 

“So i’m just gonna go on a whim and say I’m Romeo to your Juliet” Rodrick says taking in her full appearance.

After a couple beats of silence Gina finally says “I think it’s time to get on the road”

“Yeah....let’s go” Rodrick says pulling his keys from his back pocket as they made quick work to his van.

Most of the ride was silent filled with halloween music the radio was overplaying. The second they had approached the over crowded party Rodrick was ready to go home. 

It felt like his whole high school was at the party as they made their way through the party.

The party was going well for the most part. Rodrick and Gina couldn’t leave each other sides until Gina was whisked away by some of her friends that wanted to hang out and take pictures.

That left Rodrick nursing a a flat drink in the kitchen waiting for Gina to return to his side. 

“Hey” Heather says a slight slur in her voice.

Rodrick really didn’t hear her due to how focused he was on looking for his girlfriend.

“I said hey...” Heather repeated moving closer to Rodrick. 

“Oh um...hey” He let out awkwardly rubbing the back of his neck finally realizing that she was even there.

“What are you supposed to be?” Heather asked looking him up and down. 

“Um Romeo...” Rodrick says feeling himself starting to get antsy.

“Oh nice....I’m a-an angel” She stutters out.

After a minute of silence Heather asked “You wanna get out of here?” 

The question had made Rodrick spine shiver in the worst way. How close she was and the obvious stench of alcohol that floated from her mouth made him want leave the party all together.

“No I’m good...I actually have a girlfriend so if you could stop whatever you’re doing that be nice” Rodrick said to her not wanting to cause a scene but still feeling he was gonna bang his head into a wall if this conversation didn’t end.

But what he didn’t know is that Gina was watching the whole interaction from the living room. 

She couldn’t hear what they were saying and she didn’t want to seem insecure or jealous but it was hard not too when the most desired girl in town was all over her man and he didn’t seem to do anything to push her away. 

“Oh come on rody that Gina girl isn’t all that.....what she won’t know, can’t hurt her right?” The girl let out sliding her arm up and down Rodricks bicep.

The nickname already made him want to throw up but the mention of Gina and touching was what really pushed him over the edge.

Without thinking he had grabbed the girls wrist and forced her hand off of him.

“Like I said I have a girlfriend and if you say another word about her I’ll-”

“Hey Romeo” Gina’s angelic voice filled Rodrick’s ears and he was immediately at ease.

“Hey baby” Rodrick says before fully turning to her and pulling her in for a heated kiss.

“Is there a problem here?” Gina asked when they finally pulled away and noticed the almost disgusted look on the girl’s face.

“Not anymore” Rodrick let out still looking at Gina with nothing but love in his eyes.

“Wanna get out of here?” Gina asked after feeling how tense he was.

“Do you really have to ask?” Rodrick said before slinging his arm over Gina’s shoulders and walking away from a now bitter looking Heather.

Most of the walk to Rodrick’s van was silent. They had traded the shoulder hug for just holding hands.  

“Who was that?” Gina finally asked when they made it outside. She knew who Heather Hills was but something seemed to be bubbling under the surface when she looked over to Rodrick.

Rodrick took in a deep breath before spilling the beans “Heather...I had pretty bad crush on her last year...ruined her birthday trying to show it” 

A seed of insecurity started to grow within Gina as her worst fear started to seem true.

“You don’t...you don’t still have feelings for her right?” Gina’s soft voice let out as they made it to Rodricks van.

“God no..she hasn’t crossed my mind since the second I first ever saw you....no other girl has actually” Rodrick finally admits looking over to Gina’s shielded form.

A small smile appears on her face but Rodrick could tell there was something she wasn’t telling him. 

“Gina...look at me” Rodrick says turning Gina to look at him to find tears start to form in her eyes.

“What’s really going on?” He asked pulling her in for a hug after wiping away a falling tear. 

After a minute of letting her tears fall Gina finally gathered the strength to speak. 

“I just.....it’s hard not to look at a girl like heather then at me and not see a clear difference.....”

“it’s just you’re kinda the first guy that I liked that wasn't completely in love with her or any other white girl in the school... and I just thought that maybe you would forget about me when you were-”

“Gina I couldn’t forget you even if I tried....Besides drumming you are the only thing on my mind” Rodrick says making Gina laugh through her tears. 

When they finally pull away Rodrick makes quick work to wipe away any falling tears. 

“And fuck those others guys for not even beginning to comprehend the beauty that was in front of them” He says making Gina laugh.

It was in moments like this that made Gina think her life was some big rom com and she wouldn’t trade it for anything in the world. 

“Now let’s get out of here” Rodrick said softly before walking Gina to the passenger side and opening the door for her.

Neither of them said anything as Rodrick hopped into the driver seat and started the car. 

“You wanna sleep over at my house tonight?” Rodrick ask as the start to drive away from the party.

“I would but I don’t have anything for my hair or a change of clothes and your parents-”

“You can just borrow mine, we can be quiet plus I’m pretty sure my parents are at some party,......and I kinda sorta wentandboughtstuffforyourhair...” 

“I’m sorry what was that last part?” Gina asked having zero clue what Rodrick had just mumbled out.

“Don’t laugh but I might have went and bought some things for your hair just in case you ever needed to stay over...” Rodrick says blushing like a tomato and gripping the steering wheel like there was no tomorrow. 

Gina wanted to cry due to how much she loved the boy to her left. 

“God rodrick...Why would I laugh at you for that? That is the sweetest thing a boy has ever done for me....If you weren’t driving I’d suffocate you in kisses” Gina says making him immediately relax. 

“What’d you get?” Gina asked curiosity as always getting the best of her. 

Rodrick let out a small laugh before saying “Basically whatever I see in your bathroom whenever I’m at your house and whatever i thought you might like....”

The words made Gina’s heart swell and she couldn’t help hold his free hand. 

“You are the best boyfriend you know that right?” Gina asked after placing a kiss on the back of his hand making him almost swerve out of his lane.

“Gina baby I love you but I need you to stay on your side so we make it home in one piece” Rodrick said making Gina laugh as she let go of his hand. 

The rest of the ride to the Heffley household was filled with music playing on the radio. 

When they had finally arrived and parked in front of his house Rodrick made quick work to hop out of his seat and open her door after noticing that he was right about his parents being out for the night.

It wasn’t long before Gina was sitting patiently on Rodricks bed waiting for him to hand her some clothes to sleep in.

“Here’s a shirt and some shorts” He said as he handed her the clothes. 

Before she could walk off to his bathroom he lightly grabbed her forearm and pulled her back.

“Wait I just have too....” he trailed off as he turned around and went to grab for something hidden under random blanket.

Rodrick was almost sweating bullets as he turned around to give Gina the “hair basket”, his name for what he had been hiding for the last couple weeks.

“Here” he says handing her the small pink basket holding everything he had spent basically his whole paycheck from his last gig on.

The smile that appeared on Gina’s face let him know it was beyond worth it. The first thing she saw was the pink bonnet, it almost made her cry from all the joy she felt. 

“I’ll be right back” She said before walking to the bathroom to get ready for bed. 

Before Rodrick knew it Gina was walking back into his room.

“If we ever break up I’m stealing all of this from you by the way” Gina said after walking back into Rodrick’s room and handing the basket back to him.

“You look beautiful.....” He said before taking the basket and pulling her in for a kiss. 

“And of course you can steal it from me”  He said putting the basket back in it’s original place.

Gina was standing nervously waiting for Rodrick so she could finally sleep. Thankfully it didn’t take long for Rodrick to notice and climb into bed.

As always Gina was completely knocked out only a couple minutes after her head hit the pillow. 

“I love you.....” Rodrick whispered even though he knew she couldn’t hear it, he just had to say it. Saying in his head a million times a day wasn’t enough for him anymore.

Puppy love

Pt. 5

Rodrick wasn’t Gina’s first boyfriend but the way he gave her butterflies at just the thought of him made her believe he was. 

They had only been dating for a month she couldn’t get enough of him. Something about the skinny, messy haired, eyeliner wearing drummer that made her swoon. 

And him sneaking into her room at just the suggestion of helping her study for a test almost made her faint.

“Hey Juliet” Rodrick says out of breath, when she finally opens her window to let him in.

“Hey Romeo” Gina says trying to hide how giddy the gesture made her feel as Rodrick fixes his appearances. 

After a beat of silence Rodrick pulls her in for a kiss by the back of her neck. Gina used his chest to brace herself against the sudden movement. 

It took a couple of seconds for her to kiss him back do to the shock. 

“I really missed you” Rodrick sighs out when he finally pulls away.

“You literally walked me home from school yesterday” Gina replies moving her arms to rest on his shoulders and behind his neck. 

“Okay? your point?” He asked before placing a kiss on the top of her head.

“Thanks for coming over” Gina says lightly pushing herself off of Rodrick and moving over to the flashcards she had left on her bed. 

“Of course” Rodrick says following after her. 

They end up sitting on opposite sides of her bed.

After an hour of catching her taking glimpse of his lips every time he quizzed her on anything Rodrick just had to know what was going on in Gina’s head.

“Gina come on what’s up-” Before he could finish his sentence Gina was all over him.

Her lips and hands explored damn near every inch of Rodrick. 

“Hey Gina...baby...I really love what you’re doing but...YOU have to study” Rodrick says gingerly pushing Gina away.

Everything in Rodrick was screaming no as he forced space between him and Gina.

Gina let out a light sigh before going back to her work. But she was nowhere near satisfied as she forced herself to read over her notes. 

It took 20 minutes for Gina to become restless and her need for Rodrick’s lips took over once again. 

“Rodrick?” Gina asked sitting her work down.

“Yes?” He answered looking up to her. 

“Can we take a break?” 

“Yeah but only for a while cause I don’t want you to-” 

Again Rodrick barley finished his sentence before Gina pounced on him again. 

But this time he accepted it with open arms. He pushed whatever he was “working” on to the floor and helped Gina into his lap.

Their lips intertwined and seemed to refuse to separate as they moved into a more comfortable position. 

“Oh god” Rodrick whimpered out as Gina moved her lips down to his jawline then neck. 

For a moment he pulled her face away from him to look into her eyes and the smile that appeared on his face made Gina start laughing.

“What?” Rodrick asked almost breathless as he still held onto the sides of her neck.

“Nothing just....god I love your smile” Gina says making him blush and turn his head away from her.

She gently pulls him back in for a another kiss that he mindlessly reciprocates. 

“You can’t blame me if you fail this test” Rodrick whispers to Gina as he moves his hands up and down the tops of her thighs. 

Gina laughs before sliding her body down to cuddle with Rodrick. She knew he would be gone in the morning if she fell asleep like this but she didn’t care.

Holding him right now was worth not waking up to him in the morning. 

“Hey...Gina...I’m gonna have to go soon” He whispers softly placing his hand on the back of her head.

“I know...I know but can you just wait until I go to sleep?” She asked looking up into his brown eyes. 

Rodrick let out a soft sigh looking down into Gina’s eyes and it was impossible not to cave. 

“Yeah I’ll stay” He whispers as he caresses the side of her arm. 

It took less than 30 minutes for Gina to be completely knocked out. Once Rodrick noticed how limp her body had become and the steady rhythm of her breathing he knew it was time for him to head home.

It was like he was playing the hardest level of Jenga as Rodrick removed himself from Gina and her bed.  

He took a long look at a sleeping Gina before picking up the discarded work on the floor and foot of the bed and sat them on her desk as neatly as possible.

Right before he hopped out of the window he came into he tucked Gina in and placed a soft kiss on her head.

Not what everyone thinks

pt. 4

It took 10 houses, the last bit of his pride, and an unbearable amount of second hand embarrassment before Rodrick had finally knocked on the right door.

It took a couple rings before a teary eyed Gina opened the door 

The sight of Gina in pajama shorts made him bite his lips doing everything in his power not to say every unspeakable thoughts passing through his head at the moment.

But it was short lived when Gina made quick work to slam the door in his face. 

“WAIT Gina please I just need five minutes tops to explain what really happened OKAY....I promise if you never wanna hear from me again trust me I’ll stay out of your life forever” Rodrick shouts through the door. 

Every second that passed caused his heart to break in tiny pieces. Until the front door finally opened and Gina said in a cold tone “Three minutes or I never see you again”.

“Thank you” Rodrick let out quickly as he stepped foot into the Monroe house hold. 

“Shoes” Gina said quietly trying to hide the voice cracks that fought to break through. 

“You better be glad my parents are out of town for the week....” Gina says, her voice barely above a whisper. 

Rodrick stayed silent as they walked up and into Gina’s room.

Walking into Gina’s room a smile found its way on Rodricks face as he looked at the pink and animal print decor that covered it.

The only thing he could say was that it made sense. And in the best way possible. 

If he could spend the rest of lis life in here he wouldn’t even think twice. He watched silently as Gina took a seat on top of her pink covers. 

“So are you gonna keep wasting my time or you gonna tell me why you’re here?” Gina asked making Rodrick take a big gulp not expecting her tone but still loving it in some way.

It might have been hearing her voice at all that made a seed of happiness bloom within him.

“I found out what happened and you have every right to be mad at me and my friends-”

“Just tell me what happened Rodrick” Gina said refusing  to look Rodrick in the eye or even in his direction. 

Rodrick took in a deep breath before saying “My little brother Greg saw us on saturday and he said something to my friends and they were talking about it and someone overheard them and that’s how the whole thing started..”

“I promise you I had no clue that any of this happened and I am so sorry that it did” Rodrick finishes waiting for Gina to at least look at him. 

But after what felt like forever Rodrick came to the conclusion that it was time for him to leave. So he let out a sigh and started to walk out of Gina’s room.

“You can stay...please stay” Gina let’s out loud enough for him to hear. 

Rodrick had never been so quick to turn around. But once he did he was still stuck. It was like he was paralyzed all over again.

“...you can sit...if you want” Gina whispers sliding over to allow more space for him to fit. 

Rodrick wasted no time taking the spot. He didn’t know what to do next. 

“Everyone thinks im like some big slut and that I sleep with every guy I meet....but the truth is that I haven’t even had sex yet....” Gina let’s out looking into the night sky.

The confession gave Rodrick whiplash. The rumors he and just about everyone heard about Gina now filled him with rage. 

“Yeah I know, I know.....but the only reason you heard about those bullshit rumors were because some guys were butthurt that I didn’t want to sleep with them...”

After a couple a seconds of silence all rodrick can find himself to say is “I’m sorry...I’m really fucking sorry”.

He calmly moved a loose braid behind her ear causing her to finally face him.

“Rodrick?” Gina asked finally looking him in the eye.

“Yes?” He responded. 

“Did you mean what you said about really liking me in the library?” Gina asked praying that his response would be yes. 

It took him a minute but all rodrick did was take in all her beauty before softly caressing the sides of her face pulling her in impossibly closer without their lips touching.

“Every word...” He whispers making the air in Gina’s throat stop for just a moment. 

Without even thinking Gina closed the very small gap between them. It was a bit awkward at first. Neither could believe it was happening but when they did the atmosphere quickly changed.

Gina moved herself to sit on Rodrick’s lap making the air catch in his throat. He quickly licked his lips to savor the taste of Gina’s strawberry flavored lip gloss. 

The sight of Gina on top of him made him feel like he was going to faint. But before he knew it he was pulling her back in by her neck.

Rodrick didn’t remember when but he couldn’t resist the thought of kissing her neck. So he did and he made it his mission to leave as many hickies as possible.

Gina was beyond happy with the feeling of Rodricks lips on her neck but the thought of marking him up overcame her the same way it did Rodrick.

When Rodrick had finally stopped sucking on her neck she quickly moved in to return the favor.

The moan that left his mouth made Gina hungry for more. 

As they pulled each other back in for another kiss Rodrick mindlessly rolled them onto Gina’s bed with him on top. 

“You’re really fucking beautiful” Rodrick says as he does his best to kiss every inch of Gina’s neck and collarbone. 

A light laugh flew out of Gina’s mouth at rodrick’s words but everything changed with lighting speed when she felt him untie her pajama shorts. 

“Wait- Just wait please...” Gina almost shouts out when she feels Rodrick’s slender fingers start to dive under her waist. She subconsciously pushes him away.

“What happened? what’s wrong?” Rodrick ask not understand the sudden change in Gina’s mood.

Gina pulled herself from under Rodrick and took a deep breath before saying “I just....I’m not ready”

“Oh okay...that’s fine....we don’t ever have to if you don’t want to....” Rodrick says not sure of what to do. He wants to comfort her and hold her but doesn’t want to make her anymore uncomfortable.

“Is there anything I can do?” Rodrick asks.

Gina looks up and into Rodricks dark brown eyes and she feels safe. 

“Can you just...hold me?” Gina asks softly placing her hand on Rodricks exposed forearm. 

A genuine smile spread across his face as pulled Gina in for a hug and laid them both down.

“I really missed you by the way..” Gina whispered as she tightened her hold on Rodrick.

“Good cause I missed you more....” Rodrick says before planting a soft kiss on lips. 

Smiles spread across both their faces and before they knew it they had fallen asleep.

What happened on saturday?-

Pt. 3

Rodrick had been doing everything in his power to avoid Gina and not because he hated her or anything, quite the opposite.

He could barely control himself whenever she was around him. The way her vanilla scented perfume filled his senses drove him wild. 

And with everything that happened on saturday the thought of going to math class on thursday made him feel like he was going to throw up any minute now. 

If only he had taken the time to listen to not so quiet whispers he would've been more prepared for not seeing Gina in class.

After class officially started that’s when worry really started to set in. He pulled out his phone and texted her a simple “Hey it’s rodrick did you come to school today?”.

He waited almost 20 minutes before checking his phone to find a simple “yeah” as Gina’s response.

Weird he commented to himself not understanding why she sounded uninterested compared to how happy she usually sounds whenever they text. 

Still he wasted no time sending his response. 

“Could you meet me in the library during lunch we really need to talk?” 

He checked for a reply every minute to find not a single one.

Before Rodrick knew it class had already ended and the bell for lunch had already rang.

He threw everything in his backpack and raced down to the library. 

He waited in the library for about ten minutes before letting out a sigh of relief seeing Gina walk through the door.

Before he could even get a word out she walked right past him towards the last aisle of books.

With a confused and uneasy feeling he followed after her. Without question he knew he’d always follow Gina. 

When he found her with her arms crossed over her chest and with a dejected look on her face a new sense of nerves and confusion washed over Rodrick. 

She wouldn’t even look up at him until he started talking. 

“I’m sorry about saturday and avoiding you for the past couple days...I just I really like you and-”

Before he could finish Gina slapped him across the face.

“What the hell is wrong with you Rodrick? Why would you say that about me?” Gina asked confusing Rodrick beyond belief. 

“Gina what are you talking about I didn’t say anything” Rodrick almost yelled as  he held the side of his face Gina had slapped.

“Oh really then why does everybody think I gave you “special” help on saturday?” Gina asked rage filling her voice.

Rodrick couldn’t believe the words coming out of Gina’s mouth right now.

“Gina I promise you I didn’t say anything” 

“Then how does everyone know that I was at your house saturday?” Gina ask as tears start to well up.

“I...I don’t know Gina....I really didn’t tell anyone...please don’t cry I’m gonna fix this...”

He tries to pull her in for a hug but she just pushes him away as she wipes away her tears.

“I don’t want to see or talk to you again...” Gina says quietly before walking out of the library leaving Rodrick heartbroken. 

How did that just happen he questioned all throughout the day. He couldn’t even focus when practicing with his band. Gina being the only thing on his mind. 

Chris was getting fed up and finally let Rodrick have it.

“RODRICK are you even trying right now? or are you to focused on your little girlfriend?” 

“What’d you say?” Rodrick asked a sense of anger passed through his voice at the mention of Gina. 

“Calm down dude...you’ve just been distracted ever since your little “study sension” with Gina” Chris said putting air quotes around study sension making Rodrick even more upset than before.

“Look nothing happened between Me and Gina okay? She just helped me with math homework so drop it” Rodrick said trying not to yell at his friends.

“That’s not what Greg said...” Ward let’s out quietly. 

Rodrick’s brain short circuits hearing that. It was official. Rodrick was going to kill his brother. 

“What did Greg say?”

Dread seeped into Rodrick’s friend’s at the question. 

“All he said is that it looked like you two got caught doing some things you two shouldn’t have done...”

Rodrick could only see red at Chris words.

“And how did that get to everyone else at our school?” Rodrick asked as the boys put their heads down. 

“We were talking about it and just joking and I guess someone overheard....” Ward let out.

“Look we were just joking we didn’t think anyone would take us seriously-”

“oh and you didn’t take all the other rumors you guys heard about Gina seriously?” Rodrick asks making the two go silent. 

As silence settled between the three Rodrick knew he couldn’t waste another minute not talking to Gina.

“Look we can all talk later but I have to go explain what really happened to Gina, AND you two have to go fix this shit”.

Rodrick was seriously reconsidering being best friends with Chris and Ward as he watched them walk out of the garage they practice in. 

He didn’t know how but the the only plan Rodrick had was finding her house and trying to apologize to her. 

Big problem he had zero clue where her house is and it was getting dark, fast. 

He had one chance and he was not gonna waste it.

Rodrick was gonna knock on every door until he found Gina’s house. It was stupid and would most likely fail but it was his only option at the moment.

Shirtless confessions

Pt. 2

The cool late september air nipped at Gina’s exposed skin as she walked to Rodrick’s house. 

Thankfully it wasn’t a long walk. Still she was glad she opted for the hot pink long sleeve and matching sweatpants. 

All she could think about while she walked was how excited she was that Rodrick had finally texted her this morning. It didn’t take long for Gina to find herself knocking on the front door of the Heffley house.

Rodrick was about to cuss out whoever was knocking on his door at five in the afternoon until he opened the door to find the girl of his dreams standing there. 

“Hey Rod-...Oh..” Gina’s cheeks started to heat up when she saw a shirtless Rodrick open the door.

Rodricks eyes blew wide opened and he slammed the door closed. His whole body cringed in on itself when he realized what he had done.

He took in a deep breath trying to ready himself for the embarrassment when he opened the door again.

Gina on the other hand was still in shock from seeing the guy she had been sorta crushing on since middle school shirtless.

When rodrick finally opened the door he was still shirtless.

“Hey...sorry about that I just woke up and kinda forgot what time it was...so...” He said allowing Gina to walk into the threshold of Hefley house.

The two stood there in awkward silence before rodrick nods his head into the direction of his room before walking up the stairs.

Gina followed close behind hoping he didn’t notice how hard she wanted to do unspeakable things to the man in front of her. 

Before she knew it she was walking in to the surprisingly clean room of Rodrick Heffley.

“Um you look nice by the way” Rodrick said as he pulled a black wife beater over his once bear chest causing Gina to almost faint as she sat her bag on the ground. 

She had to take in a couple deep breaths hoping rodrick didn’t notice. 

“So what do you wanna start with first?” Rodrick asked taking a seat on the floor.

“Well you’re the one that asked me for help so shouldn’t I be asking you?” Gina questioned as she took a seat in front of rodrick and opening her pink backpack. 

“Touche” Rodrick lets out as his face started to go red.

He wasted no time pulling out his beaten up math homework from his backpack.

The sight of the crumble up paper made a look of shock crossover Gina’s face for a moment before laughing it off.

Gina and Rodrick spent almost an hour working before Rodrick got the right answer.

“That’s right, See you are learning” Gina says playfully shoving his exposed arm causing him to let out a light laugh. 

“I think we should take a break for now...” Gina says before picking herself up from the carpet ground. 

“Um yeah sounds good...Food?” He asked also getting up from the floor.

“who in their right mind would say no to food?” Gina asked jokingly making Rodrick laugh a little harder than he meant to. 

It wasn’t long before the two found themselves in the kitchen of Heffley house hold. 

“um so there isn’t much to eat...my family’s out getting groceries so our choices are between whip cream and... oreos” Rodrick says pulling out both onto the counter top.

It took Gina a couple seconds before blurting out “Both”.

Rodrick let out a laugh before opening up the almost empty pack of oreo’s.

He slid the whip cream over to Gina. She wasted no time popping the top off and spraying a little bit to much into her mouth. 

Rodrick fully turned around at what could possible be the worst time. Watching her wipe away the whip cream from the sides of her lips made the room 10x hotter for him. 

He wasted no time reaching for an empty glass and pouring water in it. God was this a bad Idea he repeated to himself as he took a big gulp of water. 

“You okay?” Gina ask as she washed and dried her hands.

“Yes...Yeah I just got something caught in my throat” Rodrick lied refusing to look Gina in the eye. 

“Um well whenever you’re ready when can get back to work-”

“Can we watch a movie instead?” Rodrick asked dreading the thought of having to do any more math.

in all honesty Gina did make math a lot more fun to do but still it was math and he would rather die than do another math problem.

“Rodrick c'mon you know we need to get it done with-”

“I know, I know but we can schedule to meet next weekend, Please Gina? I’ll do anything” Rodrick pleads as he gingerly holds onto both her hands. 

The thought of what “anything” could mean passed through her mind before she caved and sighed.

“Fine, what movie do you have in mind?” Gina ask making Rodrick do a small victory lap around the kitchen. 

After having his little victory dance Rodrick says “Have you ever watched the final destination movies?” 

The simple thought of thoses movies made Gina want to hurl.

“Yes and I never want to see them again...wait rodrick no-”

“Please Gina look you get to chose the next movie but since next month is october-”

“FINE...fine..you just can’t judge me if I throw up” Gina says giving in.

A sly smile spreads across Rodrick’s face as before he leans into Gina and say’s “Wouldn’t dream of it”.

The two had made it through the first movie completely fine. Even though Gina had basically used Rodrick as a shield through most of it.

It was the second movie that caused for everything to go downhill in a sense.

The close proximity was becoming intoxicating to Rodrick, The way she wrapped both her arms around his and was cuddling into his right side. 

And before he realized it he had placed his lips on Gina’s.

But the second Gina even realized what was happening Rodrick had already pulled away regretting his decision.

“Oh god I’m sorry I shouldn’t-”

“No believe me it’s fine rodrick-”

“NO it’s not I shouldn’t have- You probably don’t ever want to talk to me again....I’m sorry” Rodrick felt like he was going to die as he got up from their shared seat on the bed. 

Before Gina could even get another word out the front door had started to open and the voice of the rest the Heffley family filled the rest of the house.

“Look I’m gonna go and just....just text me when you’re ready” Gina said softly before getting up from rodrick’s bed and collecting her things.

“I’ll walk you out....” Rodrick said right before Gina reached for the door.

The two walked down in silence hoping to make an equally silent get away. But right before they could reach the front door Susan Heffley sees them.

“Hello Rodrick....Who’s this?” Susan asks making both Rodrick and Gina’s hair stand on end as they turn around to face her.

“Hi Mrs. Heffley, I’m Gina and I was just helping rodrick with math and It was nice meeting you but I really have to get going”

“Oh well it was nice meeting you too, do you need somebody to take you home?” 

“Oh no I only live a couple houses down so it’s no trouble, but thank you though” Gina said right before turning to open the door.

“Bye Gina” Rodrick said softly but loud enough for Gina to hear. 

It caused a small smile to spread on Gina’s face before saying “See you around Rodrick..” 

And before he knew it Gina had closed the door behind her as she walked back to her house. 

“She seems...nice” Susan says before walking into the kitchen.

“Yeah...she is” Rodrick replies in a bittersweet tone praying that he hadn’t messed everything up.
