i truly believe that even in another lifetime, peter quint would’ve never deserved rebecca jessel because while he was completely willing to overtake miles–a ten-year-old boy who looked up to him and saw him as a surrogate uncle figure–just to fulfill his selfish whims, rebecca loved flora so much that she stayed by her side and constantly watched over her, up until the very end, and even though she’d already died once–in a very painful and traumatic way, at that–she was still willing to repeat the very same torture she was subjected to in order to ensure that little flora would never feel scared or pained in what was almost her final minutes on earth

Miles, Flora, and Rebecca haunt me. A lot of attention is put onto Flora and Rebeca, and rightfully so, but I don’t see a lot of people talk about how Miles was consistently having his boundaries and body violated for who knows how long. Peter used his body to indulge in adult activates like smoking and possibly drinking. It clearly bothered Miles too because in a call back to the beginning of the series, Miles tells Peter he doesn’t like it when Peter takes over his body “without permission” which is what we see Miles discussing in episode 2 with the priest.
