Biography Questions for Piper, Age 24

Name: Piper Nichole Lyons

Description of family: Single mother, no siblings. Dad died when Piper was young. He was in the military.

Date of birth: August 4, 1986

Place of birth: Chicago, Illinois

Location changes: None. Mother worked in a high-rise in Chicago.

Interests: Books, partying, family.

Talents: Sees the future, immortal.

Legal trouble: Spent one night in jail for public indecency when she was 19.

Educational experiences: Graduated high school. Got a two year degree at a community college, but just wanted to stay home and help her mom. Became a bartender.

Work experiences: Babysat as a kid. Currently works as a bartender in Chi-town.

Athletic achievements: Was on the track team in high school. Fast runner.

Influences: Her mom.

Political activism: Liberal.

Friends: Has a few... don't know how much of them we're going to see.

Romantic relationships / marriage: Has had a couple very serious boyfriends, but none have gone the distance.

Awards: She was a pretty average student.

Failures: Not too many. Piper's just kind of average.

Tragedies and difficulties: Father died in the military when Piper was eight. Mother worked a lot and had a few boyfriends. Piper didn't really get along with many of them. Wasn't very motivated in high school or college. Works as a bartender to help her mom out with the finances.

Name changes: None. Stays Piper Lyons the entire novel.

Clubs and organizations: Track team, student council for a couple years. Again, average kid.

Biography Questions for David, Age 25

I'm going to develop more of David's Character over the next couple of days. Tagged under "David Bio."

Name: David Aaron Holt

Description of family: David's got a mother, father, and brother named Jacob. Parent's are married, but David finds out his father has been cheating on his mother after he gains the ability to read minds.

Date of birth: July 2, 1985

Place of birth: Naperville, Illinois. It's a city not too far from Chicago and was named one of America's Best Places to Live.

Location changes: Moved from Naperville to a dirty suburb just outside Chicago at age 16 after he ran away from home.

Interests: Alcohol, women, motorcycles.

Talents: Telepathy, immortality. He also has a way with the ladies. ;)

Legal trouble: Yes.

Educational experiences: School until age 16. Ran away and got a GED. No college.

Work experiences: Busboy at a biker bar from age 16. Turned into bartender at age 18.

Athletic achievements: None. Liked baseball as a kid, though.

Influences: Alcohol.

Political activism: None.

Friends: Few and far between. There's Susan, his boss, and Troy, Susan's son/the stoner he works with. But I wouldn't call them "friends."

Romantic relationships / marriage: Many women. In this story, the woman he spends the most time with is named Piper.

Awards: Hah.

Failures: Too many.

Tragedies and difficulties: Father cheats on his mother; causes David to run away from home. David feels alone and tries to commit suicide... more than once.

Name changes: None. Stays David Holt the entire novel.

Okay, where to begin...

How to Live Forever is a story I started in May of 2011. It follows the life of a young man named David Holt who is not as ordinary as he appears. The summer of his sixteenth birthday, David discovered he had the ability to read minds, and his life was changed forever. He finds out his father was cheating on his mother... his best friend is secretly the leader of the gang that has picked on him his entire school career... David, confused with how to handle this information, runs away to a suburb of Chicago where he gets his GED and begins working in a biker bar as a dish washer. 

Fast forward a few years, and David is depressed and alone as ever. On Christmas Eve, he writes a suicide note to the one person he feels will care (his landlord), and climbs out the window of his third floor apartment. He jumps. And survives. The next morning, he wakes up in a hospital bed. A nurse comes in, and starts checking his vitals. David doesn't understand how he survived the jump, and is about to ask the nurse when she speaks. "You can't die, David," she tells him. "Not yet."

David learns that along with his gift of telepathy, he is also immortal until he fulfills his destiny and finds the "oracle." How to Live Forever follows this journey, and the struggles David has, not only in completing it, but completing it with someone who wants nothing to do with him, and finding his true self along the way.

Hello, dear reader.

My name's Jenna, and this is my writing blog for the year 2012.

I want to do this thing in 2012 where I get more serious about my writing. I’ve always wanted to write a novel, and always stop after I get bored. If I want to accomplish my goal, I need to write every day.

So I created writingisfornerds.tumblr.com where I’m going to be posting my writings for the day, hopefully every day, or close to it, for the whole year.

I’m going to be continuing off the story I started in my 25 Days of Writing on my personal tumblr, with David and his superpowers, because it’s honestly something I could finish. It’s brilliant, the storyline I have written down on my computer.
