Amazing Aluminum Human Wire Sculptures

Korean artist Seung Mo Park created these incredible human figure sculptures using tightly wrapped layers of aluminum wire based on fiberglass forms. The works shown here are part of the Brooklyn-based artist’s Human series where he recreates the delicate wrinkles and folds of clothing as well as the sinuous musculature of the human body in metallic layers reminiscent of tree rings. He’s also sculpted bicycles, musical instruments and other forms as part of his Object series.

To the average passerby, the girl with the dusty rose hair may seem as ordinary as any young woman, albeit with an enchanting beauty. Closer inspection reveals minor abnormalities, like an affinity for eating with her hands, sometimes-strange word choice and syntax, and a ridiculously eclectic fashion sense.

She’s more than just a pretty, bizarre girl, however. Her name is Vartouhi, and she is the princess of the planet Balah. Forced to flee during an invasion of an enemy planet, she knows not what has become of her home and family, nor does she know how far she is from it, or how to return. Stuck on Earth for the time being, she takes up the name Ahn Hyeri in an attempt to blend in with the humans of Seoul, South Korea.
