Finished Well of Ascension. I took an audible sigh of relief when Straff died. I was so over the c*nt. I appreciate Sanderson letting us see it from his pov too. Because him like "I feel great, all my enemies killed each other, I'm about to get a new city annnnd I'm DEAD" was just fucking great.

Did not see the twist with the well coming so I'm interested to see where this goes.

Also I'm annoyed with Dox's death. Like we saw Club's death through Breeze's eyes and I guess we got to see Dox's from his own POV like Straff's but with Straff we got to see the confirmation of it through Vin's pov but with Dox all we got was that some no name soldiers confirmed it. Like none of his friends went looking for his body when the dust settled?! It almost makes me half suspect he's not dead.

Speaking of looking for bodies of our friends, poor fucking Sazed. I just want to hug him. I appreciate the way Sanderson is writing his struggle with the grief of losing someone he loves though. A lot of people often overlook how deeply grief can penetrate your very soul.

Also l'm standing even more firmly on my Elend is the Hero of Ages prediction now. Even though the whole giving up the power thing was way off lol.

i’m so appreciative to suzanne for reframing the rebellion from the original trilogy as a “they saw their moment and took it” type situation and showing us that they’ve been trying, over and over, with so many failed attempts, to break the arena and incite a rebellion for decades. in this current political climate never giving up hope is so essential. haymitch wasn’t the first nor the last, and they kept going even when it seemed completely futile, and that’s what counts, and what ultimately saves them all.
