The sound of his phone hitting the pavement made her jaw drop slightly, already feeling awful for possibly breaking it. “It wasn’t you at all, but yeah, I’m fine. I’m okay,” she responded in a rush, brushing strands of hair out of her eyes so she could see the boy clearly. “Are you okay? Is your phone o—” Cutting herself off, she craned her neck to see where his phone landed, and kneeled down to pick it up for him. She examined the damage, which wasn’t actually all that much considering how hard the landing must’ve been. A few cracks here and there, dirt speckling the screen; she all but winced, twisting her mouth into a shape that depicted how she felt about the situation. “I’m so sorry. I can probably have my mom get you a knew one. Or at least a new screen.” Dragging her fingers through her hair, she sighed quietly.
Letting out a nervous laugh as his phone was handed back to him, he examined the newly formed cracks on the screen; there had already been a few before, so Alex didn’t consider it all that much damage. “—No, it’s fine, really.” He managed, finally looking up at the female. “I drop it on a regular basis, it’s no big deal.” The dark haired male smiled, mostly out of courtesy; but also because he felt, somehow, he knew this girl. Craning his neck slightly to look at the sign of the shop they stood in front of, another nervous chuckle left his lips, “Are you closing for the day?”
.
“ – sure it did bub. ”
“ Ah, now, don’t go makin’ fun of me, Josie. ”
Bristol’s aunt had given her permission to close shop early if it wasn’t busy by the time 3 o’clock rolled around. With the sun comfortable still high in the sky, shining in through the wall of windows out front and casting a nice glow on the book she was reading, she felt no present need to close up. But she did as she was instructed, zipping her light jacket and gripping the strap of her purse tighter after locking the door. She turned rather quickly, anxious to get home without realizing someone was behind her. “Oh!” she yelped as she bumped into them, her heart beginning to race in her chest. “I - I’m sorry, I didn’t see you at all.”
Walking through the streets of Auckland with one real aim, he kept his eyes glued to his phone as he made it ever closer to the set point of his destination. His mothers birthday was coming up soon; and he’d bet his life to his siblings that he’d get her the best gift out of all of them. His mother oddly loved antiques, and though he didn’t quite understand it, he wasn’t quite sure he wanted to. After a bit of internet searching, he found the closest antique shop and off he went. Looking up from his phone a second too late, he bumped into someone and all he could make out was a head of strawberry blonde hair as his phone went flying. “---sssshit,” he cursed under his breath, lifting his head fully to apologize. “no, no, that was-- that was me. I wasn’t paying attention to where I was walking. You alright?”
“ the amount of people i saw pulling a door that clearly said ‘push’ today is ridiculous. ”
“ --- wait, you’re tellin’ me you saw that? i swear on my life it said pull. ”

The politeness displayed by the other in the shop did make Fin twinge a bit for being rude, he glanced up at the clock.“ Do you know what you want? ‘Cause if you do, I’ll scan it for you now, or keep it behind the counter for tomorrow. Just got important places to be, ”
Hearing the male’s voice once more, he turned back, instinctively scratching the back of his neck. “Uh, yeah,” he started, clearing his throat right after. “Blink-182′s Buddha on vinyl, I’ve looked for it all around Auckland. Thought I’d be able to find it here given more time. --- It’s cool, I’ll be back in tomorrow; I’d hate to keep ‘ya from your important places.”
“Yes!” she exclaimed, the music industry terminology rather foreign to her. “Album release party. Clearly the better word choice.” She mirrored his grin, hers more of an embarrassed one at such a simple concept. With a nod, she responded, “he does! At Neighborhood Records, actually. It’s not too far away, I don’t think.”
“Eh,” he started, shrugging slightly as his brows furrowed. “success party could be the terminology of a manager or such if someone gets that far into the process, I guess. – I’d call it a success.” He finished with another smile, assuring that the term she used might not exactly be unorthodox or wrong. “Neighborhood Records??” he asks as soon as the name registers in his mind; his face clearly showing excitement and a bit of surprised. “My band started recording there this week.”
