Winning | Tohru & Clear
That’s good. Clear swallowed the sigh of relief that nearly escaped his lips, feeling the feared weight fly off of his shoulders. Not that he’d be annoyed or anything but he wasn’t fond of the idea of another girl deluding him into going out on a date with her. It had been a normal occurrence lately and most of those girls were students from the university which was evidently a big NO-NO to him and the public. He had already been receiving such judgmental glances from the university’s faculty and Clear couldn’t blame them. But unfortunately, he couldn’t explain it to them that those girls he had ‘dated’ simply tricked him into just 'hanging around’ with them and then would eventually tell him that they were actually on a date.
If he wasn’t too darn nice, he would have pointed out that he could never possibly date them.
But Tohru seemed to have something different in mind and Clear was in content– but perhaps slightly disappointed to which he refused to acknowledge– of that fact. He decided not to present that through his features, however, and instead just displayed a warm smile and nodded his head.
“All right! I can do that! I always enjoy anybody’s company after all!” But after taking Tohru’s first response into consideration, he added. “But I don’t see why it would be troublesome to date Tohru-san. Your fans wouldn’t get riled up since they all seem very nice and supportive. If it’s regarding your busy schedule, then you should be dating someone who’s understanding. Tohru-san seems like a very smart girl after all so you should be able to easily find the perfect person to date!”
Tohru knew next to nothing about his accompanying fan, but the man seemed honest in his expressions and was turning out to be fairly pleasant to be around. Perhaps under different circumstances he’d even be curious enough to want to get to know him better - whether that was what most people called a date, he didn’t really know. But he did know that right now he was supposedly at work. The station wanted some bizarre contest and a concluding ‘happy winner’ story: it was Tohru’s job to make sure they got just that, and now he was feeling more assured it was beginning to become a fairly enjoyable task anyway.
“Uhh. Well, that is...” This smart girl had almost slipped. Having two separate identities was convenient and at times even entertaining, but more often than not it held him back. At any other time, Tohru would’ve grasped the chance to vent his thoughts. He didn’t have any particularly close friends in Brieve, so the chance didn’t come often. Just his luck then that he was currently ‘Princess Tohru’ and not simply ‘Tohru’. His realistic and somewhat pessimistic views had to be quickly put aside.
“...You’re very kind, thank you!~ You’re such a gentleman, surely you have a loved one yourself? I hear a lot of good stories about this city, it’s part of my job to help keep people smiling so that they find their happiness, and that makes it all worthwhile ~ Putting all that aside, I hope you don’t mind if we make a start?” Slipping a notebook out of his handbag as they continued walking, Tohru freed his arm - wanting to concentrate more now, lest he accidentally mention anything he shouldn’t amidst the light-hearted chitchat. Besides, in a sense it meant he’d get to know a little more about his interesting admirer whilst still doing what he was supposed to.
“First things first, I don’t think I caught your name?”
