Scotty Moore, elite guitarist who helped Elvis Presley define rock & roll in its early years, was born in Gadsden, Tennessee; died June 28, 2016 in Nashville, Tennessee. Moore, who is credited with introducing the power chord in guitar on the Presley song “Jailhouse Rock”, also played on such Elvis classics as “Heartbreak Hotel”, “Hound Dog”, “Blue Suede Shoes” and “Surrender”, among many others.
