just because Twitter’s about to crack doesn’t mean we should be distracted from this site’s own problems which I’m sure staff would enjoy. We still have a problem with predators on here and people posting child exploitation material. We still have fascist communities and hate groups here. We have groups of terfs that dox trans kids. A lot of people who rely on sex work for their income had their lives upended as a result of the porn ban. We have a broken automated moderation system that will fuck you up if it thinks it saw a nipple. Staff banned a bunch of real, vocal people of color during the height of the BLM movement in 2020 under the pretense that they were somehow foreign intelligence agents. We need significant change and improvement here, and if Twitter shuts down within the next year, I’m sure that the people who run Tumblr as a business will have little motivation to do anything if their competitor is dead.
