You just said you didn’t.” Callie pokes herself in the stomach, the other hand propped on her hip. She has to flail to catch the soda and prevent it from flying over the edge of the cliff and down into Octo Valley.
“Besides, I’ve been more relaxed than ever lately.” She pops the can’s tab with a hiss of carbonation. “I dunno what your standards for relaxed are but they must be way stricter than mine. I feel totally fine.”
So much for caring ... Which by the way was exhausting.
“ Fine. ” The slight frustration in her voice is barely audible. “ I went too far. ”
She doesn’t sigh this time, just looks into the distance, eyes observing the sky, then the emptiness of the canyon captures her attention.
“ I guess they are ... Stricter, if that’s how you see it. Then again we have different lives, I’m just a squid who does turf once in a while, and you’re an idol that passes out in the middle of the plaza. ” She looks at her briefly. “ Sorry, too soon. ” Soba goes back to starring into the abyss. “ But you get it. ”
