"Indeed I have m’lord. I have lost count of the nights I have spent travelling." She looked up at him again and stood from her knees. "Is there an inn around that I might be able to purchase a room for the night? I find myself quite fatigued."

She smiled at the male before her. She had been to several realms, all of which had developed at their own pace and time and she wasn’t sure if this was one of high technology or not. Better to stick to basics until she was sure.

"There are many," was his simple answer -- he tried not to use more words than needed. But then, he remembered that this woman was a stranger --- she didn't know where the inns in question were. Vanilor did not trust easily ( especially when someone was clearly not a dragon in their fleshy form ), but he also knew that to leave her -- an honorable warrior -- in the midst of a dense, dragon-populated forest would not be a good idea. Heaving an internal sigh, he glanced up at her again. "I . . . I can lead you."

“Dragons?” Now she looked confused, mostly because her knowledge on the “mythical” creatures was small and a bit fuzzy around the edges. She recalled reading a story once—before the pages disintegrated in the water, that is—that detailed a dragon hoarding loads of gold and a knight killed him so the King could have it all. Actually, she had just looked at the pictures since she couldn’t exactly read human language(s). Based on that alone, she had thought the dragon to be innocent and the king to be selfish, and yet, from other rumors she had heard, dragons were terrifying beasts people were meant to stay away from. “I thought they were big, frightening creatures who ate people?”

"Not exactly," he said, amusement coloring his tone. Such a reputation his kind had; granted, a few of them were big, frightening creatures who ate people ( only when they needed to ), but for the most part, they were harmless. Let them be, and they would let you be. "We are more civilized than that. And far more beautiful than any old bird."

Creatures bigger than her kind and with wings? Now she was imagining mermaids with great wingspans, that is until an image of Scuttle crossed her mind. “Like birds?” She asked with glee. “Huge birds?”

Another laugh, perhaps less guarded than before, sounded from the dragon-king; birds. He couldn't help but picture his creatures as massive birds, donning feathers rather than scales. "Yes ----- and no. You will come across them some time or another, so I suppose I am at liberty to speak the truth; they -- we -- are not birds, but dragons."

Well, it’s nice to know that either the enchantment from Asgard is still allowing her to understand other languages or this man is a speaker of English, of some sort anyway. That is a relief but only a tiny bit of one because the rest of her attention is focused on being completely freaked out by her little mishap with her teleport machine. Jane has been walking for what feels like to her maybe hours but it’s probably less, she just isn’t used to this much walking and she’s pretty damned stressed, so when she finally finds someone and they speak English? She wants to cry. "I am different," she replies, voice hoarse. "And really, really not from here, uh.. I need help, actually.”

His brow quirks; her stress is almost tangible to him. Though he may be in his fleshy, human form, his vision and senses are still that of a dragon's --- meaning that all of his senses are heightened, and his awareness to his surroundings is greater than any human's. "Help," he repeats, comprehending and understanding. "You are not --- from here? I shall aid you as best I can, stranger, but I make no promises. What is it that you need?"

Alagaesia… The name of the place did not sound familiar, as she had never seen it mentioned in any stories or Asgardian history books. With her hand in a fist motion, the goddess placed her forearm across her chest, the closed palm of said hand landing on her heart as she bowed, “Well met Lord Vanilor. I am Lady Sif of Asgard.”

She kept her bow low until he spoke again, another sign of respect one paid to royalty on Asgard.

"Well met, Lady Sif," he murmured, giving a respectful nod of his head rather than bowing. "Asgard, you say? I have not heard of such a land. Have you traveled far, to find yourself in Alagaesia?"

Trevor takes a small step off to the side, eyes narrowed at the dragon in front of him. If there was one thing he expected to happen today — well, he never would have expected this. He bares his teeth slightly as a growl begins to form in his throat, hair standing up on his back. Calm down. Just stay calm.

Pitiful. That is what the dragon thinks when his red eyes settle upon the wolf; it is small, or at least, small compared to him, who is around seventy feet tall. He wonders -- how far would the furry thing fly if he flicked it with one of his huge, curved claws? A sound akin to a snort sounds from the dragon, who lowers his massive head to the ground in order to be more on eye-level with the wolf.

It is odd, appearing as a human and yet living as a dragon. For when the strangers approach, he can smell them; and when he turns to look, he can see sharper, clearer, than any human -- colors are more vibrant, and, like some animals, he can see colors which the normal, human eye cannot. ɪɴ sᴜᴍᴍᴀʀʏ﹕The approaching strangers appear very strange indeed. "You are different," he announces, "and not from here." And that is all he offers in speech; the fact is obvious enough, and his curious tone implies that he will wait for an answer and explanation.

“Like mermaids?” She asked, suddenly intrigued, her eyes dancing in the light with a mixture of wonder and fascination. He ruled creatures like her father did, but what kind of creatures, she knew not, and she didn’t know enough to take a gander at it.

Her sudden intrigue was ----- sweet. He was certain, now, that she was simply a lost traveler, one who meant no harm; the fact loosened him up just a touch, enough for him to offer a small smile. "No, not mermaids; and though some of the creatures are near that size, most are bigger. Much bigger. With wings."

Oh dear, this was not where she had intended to be, was it? For a moment, she felt panicked and frightened, but gradually she began to calm herself, deciding to take this as a learning experience—it wasn’t as if she could turn back, anyway. “Alagaesia?” She asked, sounding the word out slowly in order not to mess up. It did not sound familiar, but she wasn’t well-versed in the names of places humans lived on anyway, so she supposed the foreignness wasn’t something to worry about. Letting out a pitiful sigh, she smoothed the front of her dress and put on a smile. “My name is Ariel. Do you… rule this place?”

Her attempt to sound out the name of his land was humorous, to say the least; he hadn't realized how very foreign it was to those not native of the land (himself being one of the most native). "It is a pleasure, Ariel. And no; I do not rule this place," he said, shaking his head. "Not any place. But I rule ----- creatures." Oh, it was odd to call himself a creature.

“Pardon me,” she began, eyes roaming around the unfamiliar surroundings with both curiosity and a new found sense of fear. “But I’m not familiar with this place. Could you tell me where I am?”

Her youth set his immediate worries at ease; not that he really needed to be worried, per se. There weren't many out there that he should be wary of, considering who he was --- but he was always on guard, just in case an approaching stranger happened to have some sort of ill will against his kind, the dragons. Her confusion spoke volumes to him -- she meant no harm. "You are in Alagaesia," he replied, offering a soft nod. "Specifically the island of Vroengard. You are far from the mainland, my Lady."

The look on Sif’s face was priceless when the dragon made his transformation before her eyes. Definitely not expecting that. She looked at the man that now stood before her. He was beautiful as a dragon, powerful and strong, and as a man? All of the above still rang true, but there was the added bonus that he was incredibly handsome.

She caught herself staring at him for a moment and looked away quickly. “I simply mean to ask you where I am, Sir.” Her eyes stayed focused on the ground as she spoke, a sign of respect after nearly gawking at him for the last few minutes.

"Alagaesia," he answered swiftly, his now-brown eyes giving one last venture up and down her form. "You are in Alagaesia, home to many creatures --- most notably, myself. I am Vanilor. I am King of Dragons."

“Me? Nothing.” And it’s the truth. Despite how old and wise he was, he sure didn’t know what he wanted even when he wanted it. Frankly, his entire life could be summed up by that problem alone: thinking he knew what he wanted but being wrong.

"Nothing," he echoed, rather perplexed. "You have come for --- nothing?" How odd; most travelers arrived with a purpose, or at least, a direction. "-----Not even to see the sights which my homeland offers?"

Sif had never met very few dragons in the thousands of years she had been living, and to be so close to on now almost caused her to draw her blade. Thinking better of it, she instead took the weapon on her back and thigh and simply unhooked the holsters, letting them fall to the ground as she held her hands up lightly.

"I mean you no harm," she spoke to it, as if it could hear or understand her.

The dragon lowered his massive head, his ruby-red eyes now level with the woman's. Vanilor was drawing conclusions about her; dragons had a keener sense of intuition than humans, so the process didn't take long. She was a warrior --- clearly, a female one. A small sniff revealed that she was not from here -- and Vanilor could not quite tell where. Her scent was odd, different -- it seemed tinged with magic. Either she was a mage, or she simply came from a realm which boasted many a magician. He studied her for moments more; she made no move to collect her weapons, and her hands stayed up. She spoke, and he could understand her. He had questions, of course, and he couldn't ask them like this. He rose to his full height again ---- his huge height -- and in a swirl of his own magic, he stood before her as a man. "----Then what do you mean?"
