Pt 3: 2- The stigma of danger and violence in terms of mental health is being perpetuated. 3 - Assumptions about a person’s diagnosis were made without their consent and using subjective criteria and information.
The thing is that Shane is just about as informed about this topic as the general public. He doesn’t have any credentials, and he doesn’t owe us anything as far as education goes. He makes a disclaimer at the beginning of part 3 (he assumed that people would know automatically, which was the main problem of parts 1+2) to let us know that he is labeling this as pure entertainment. The disclaimer also states that he isn’t diagnosing anyone. He is using the tools that he has and the information he’s learning throughout each video to form his opinion, which most likely won’t be fully revealed until the final episode. We all clearly know that now, and it’s up to each person to decide if that’s content they are interested in or not. Remember that this series OVERALL isn’t about psychology or sociopathy. It’s about who the Paul family really is. Shane’s strongsuit is listening, learning, and helping. Jake said that he was willing to partake in that. We saw videos of him and learned a bit about the mental state he might be in, we saw videos of the family, and next we will see interviews with the people closest to him. It sounds entertaining and I am not offended by it. That’s all I want from a youtube series like this.
