Hey, i just read your post about whitepine and im wondering where you got the information that episode 10 is the second to last one. Bc ive seen a couple of other people mention it but i can't find any source for it
does anyone gaf abt hsr . anyways here's my hcs of what each member's faction would be plus paths
a lot of this was mostly done with my Heart but i do have some thoughts of more fleshed out thoughts under the cut:
red - i like the 5 star sampo theory that he accidentally became an emanator from aha's gaze is becomes a munoring actor. also i think red can pull off the "silly/sly guy but he's actually mega depressed" vibe really well
ash - i like the idea that he used to be the head of the family but after getting booted from it, be joined the stellaron hunters after feeling lost in life cus even though ash is very much a character that wants the world to burn, it's not in a very destruction-core way (also i think ideologically he'd fw the order hence why he ended up joining a faction with a script)
zam - i think she'd be something like cyrene! like look me in the eyes and wanting to "write the most romantic story ever told" isn't zam core and that story involves the most suffering ever 😭
4cvit - i think he'd fit with the cremators quote well! just the vibe of wanting to create the "perfect" story and willing to delete memories seems very him core to me
squiddo - i think they'd be be someone that's always finding their way into Some Shit so a memokeepr would fit them cus they're just Everywhere 😭
masked fools - look me in the eyes and tell me they wouldn't rig a bunch of bombs to explode on a ship for funsies .
history fictionologists - i just think these characters would 100% lie for shits and giggles . for no reason
qsmp/god of chaos and glitches!squiddo! i think it's fun we're making them a god cus they're not on the server LOL
design details/breakdown under the cut!
in keeping in line with the rest of the qsmp designs i've done, i referenced a lot of british specific in her design
for starters, their clothes are inspired by british punk. more specifically, how vivienne westwood incorporated a very well-constructed design with punk elements !! both cus the punk movement started in the uk and westwood being an english designer. i also based the clothes off of tennant from r1999 since i love her clothing silhouette. also the punk movement started off as a counter-culture movement, which fits the theme of a chaos god quite well !!!
for the chaos elements, the inside of their coat is a fraser spiral illusion, which was made by a british psychologist. it also resembles the plaid in a lot of punk fashion which is a bonus too! she also has an atom charm in reference to the father of atomic theory being british and the idea that 2 objects can phase through each other if their atoms pass through each other :) kinda like no-clipping in real life. the wires around them are also supposed to represent computers, but more specifically the manchester baby, the first electronic stored-program computer ever made
and some fun details is that they mirror my q!ash design. both of them have something hanging from the right side of their hip, as well as flared pants. the little screen on their face is also both a nod to the manchester baby as well as to mirror ash. it's cute i think!
overall, very proud of this design hehe :] i love alternative fashion so this was super fun to do !!
my pass at a q!ewron design!! details under the cut <3
once again, i tried to incorporate polish culture into his design. a lot of the traditional polish clothing i could find were polish folk costumes, and since i want to try and make my designs (somewhat) wearable, i decided to keep the general elements of ewron's minecraft skin but adding a bit of of the elements i noticed in male polish folk costumes :) most notably the puffy sleeves, pants, and black boots i saw a lot
but i can't lie and say i wasn't excited to incorporate some of the wonderful embroidery in polish clothing to his outfit! a lot of the designs were inspired by this veil i found on pinterest, and i thought adding it to the inside of his cape really highlighted the red portions, which really contrasts with the white which i hope gives off an intimidating silhouette which fits in with him saying he's "ash's blade"
also i had to add some red panda elements LOL i gave him a haircut that would really round his face, similar to how red pandas have a round face. i also gave him hair inspired by alysa liu to mimic the rings of a red panda's tail
and last as a little fun detail, i added some hair clips to look like the flag of poland 🇵🇱
overall very happy with this design! i can't wait to make more qsmp designs :3
coming back from the dead to upload my design for q!ashswag :3 design notes under da cut
i've recently been inspired by how much thought + care goes into the details of a bunch of gacha games and i decided to try my hand at it !!!
in terms of silhouette, i tried to keep in line with this dictator!ash design by frizzmcwizz, but adding more indo-western influences it since ash is clearly very proud of his culture, as well as staying consistent with qsmp as a whole
in terms of what he's wearing, he's wearing a sherwani, a kashmir shawl, with pants inspired by this suit from rahul mishra. he's also wearing some mojaris as well !!!
and he's wearing his hair in a braid with marigolds in it, as well as having henna and assorted jewelry to add visual interest :) i also decided to add some white streaks w/ his curly hair so kinda give off the impression of smoke (heh. ash), as well as the little glitch things flying in the wind to give the design some movement, cus my idea is that his shawl and hair would fly in the wind like a wisp of smoke ^_^ also i don't know how clear it reads but i also tried to give him some super dramatic smokey eye makeup + eyebags as well !!! i couldn't add as many techwear elements as i would have hoped but overall i'm happy w this design and can't wait 2 make more qsmp designs ^_^ it was fun researching everything !!!
okay. i have a lot of thoughts about whitepine ep 10 and i think i have quite a few thoughts that haven't been brought up in the conversation with some meta analysis from a long-term ivory fan
(spoilers for whitepine ep 10 and themes about violence and misogyny under the cut)
okay. wow. so it ends up my theory of the arg being ivory's personal hell was right after all. with that in mind and being a long term ivory fan, i think it's so interesting that ebony's voice is very, very different in the arg compared to her previous appearances, which actually could be a metaphor for both her self-hatred and how she is treated as a trans woman in particular (since ebony now sounds much more like her pre-transition voice rather than. british). especially in the most recent episode with ebony saying things like, "you can't change. you're a horrible person" etc. etc. considering that ivory has said this was supposed to be the ending to the prison series and that the arg was a transitional period for her previous lore and whitepine, i wouldn't be surprised if she wrote ebony with a trans perspective in mind (esp considering she made the conscious choice to change ebony's voice)
furthermore, i think the abuse ivory faced could have been read as another form of misogyny leading to abuse. it's revealed that ivory was beaten up really badly by ebony (which could also be a metaphor for the abuse that a lot of trans women unfortunately face), and even if she were to fight back, she'd be seen as violent and evil, even though she is just defending herself. hence why i don't think she fought borm when she got beat up, because unfortunately, anyone remotely feminine is taught to be docile and not fight back. on top of whitepine being some sort of hell for ivory as well as. you know. it hurts to be a woman in our society, cis or trans
(shout out to this comment that made me realize this)
but moving on from that, i think it's really important to acknowledge how whitepine exists in a time period where both class and gender roles were huge, especially considering how even though multiple of the actors in whitepine use multiple pronouns, they're only addressed with very binary pronouns (with ivory including this in all of her descriptions too).
on top of this, bitotter's gender is still seen in a very binary lens, with ivory and serapter like. being shocked that you don't have to be a man or a woman, which really shows that in this world in particular, the binaries of gender are so strong that anything outside of that is seen as weird
and with this recent episode, class is very much seen as a hierarchy in the world of whitepine because. well. *insert zombie's coke rant about the common workers here* as well as his sense of entitlement to both his children And the workers (esp considering it seems like he has a ton of beef with pyro, which could be because wp!pyro is very explicitly queer in whitepine)
anyways. with such a strong theme of classism and gender binary, i thought it was so weird that the end of whitepine was so male-centric, which made me believe that episode 10 wasn't the ending of whitepine, even without me seeing the message that this is the second to last episode. after learning there is another episode after this, it would actually make sense considering there's a few signs from zolister
even though, yes, he actually wants to change things, he doesn't actually do anything except yell at zombie. the thing that really made me stop and think about it was that zolister keeps on referring to ivory as ivy, which kind of shows that he doesn't see ivory as who she actually is
which. actually. makes a lot of sense. zolister is someone that has money and is going very well in society and lives in whitepine's upper class, but since he directly benefits from the systems put in place (being able to choose a job and "fix the system"), he doesn't actually do things to change much, something made really clear in his final conversation with vi. but it does make sense as people in the upper class are often shielded from the work of working class people (which, might i mention, ivory did grow up in poverty irl), but even if they want to help, they're still upholding the system
and i think this really shows how much ivory explores class in a nuanced way. even for characters in the upper class (like pyro), if you don't fit the status quo at all, you still suffer. even though zolister has a good heart, he still, ultimately, isn't doing anything that can actually risk his position on society. which as someone who spent a lot of time with rich people, unfortunately holds very true :(
with such a nuanced sense of class. i was thinking about who the murderer of mysty, and it made me think a lot about the wording of it. i was watching the episode with a friend (hi soup if you're reading) and he mentioned how the unsatisfying ending of the killer being a random guy actually plays really well into the themes of whitepine. even though someone died, they weren't someone deemed "important" by society and unfortunately, everything goes on like nothing happened. which i think works really well Until i realized ivory wouldn't write such a male-centric ending considering all of the themes about gender from before, and with the context of how vital class is in whitepine, it made me think about the "confession" where it happens
notice how rekrap says "seemed" and "assuming". now, enough time has passed for mysty to have an entire funeral, and considering the police said that the person had brown stains and a hunting knife wouldn't make sense. sure, if mysty's death had just happened, this would make sense, but she died at least a few months ago. why the hell would a murderer still wear the clothes they committed the crime in weeks later while carrying the weapon? considering we know exactly what happened in the confession room, it can very much be assumed any information there isn't accurate (if you want something more, than i rec watching this video by jacob geller!). considering how much power the hemlockes have (i mean. borm literally faced 0 conquences for beating ivory to a pulp), i would not be surprised if the hemlockes were just waiting for the chance to cover it up
it should also be mentioned that ivory Does recognize mysty is queer, and has definitely thought about what killing her off would mean
PLUS with what pyro said can be taken as two ways. 1) assuming it really was the killer that killed mysty, he targeted her for being queer or 2) mysty was killed because she Didn't fit into the status quo somehow, which considering she was the closest to pyro, also could mean the only queer allyship he had was intentionally killed off. also there's a really good post by @tableclown (link here) that mentions how mysty's death was super glossed over and she wasn't really her own character, which unfortunately does tie into the themes of mysty being a minority ant not mattering in society. however, it also adds to how the two characters who have officially died (mysty and ms. hemlocke) aren't really seen as actual characters in whitepine. we hear a lot about their actual deaths and what they left behind, but we have no idea how they actually were in life. and i think ivory, a trans woman who very clearly sees how people treat mcyt content made by women, could have a say in, wouldn't have wrote this in her show without a good reason
and with all of this in mind. i really really think that the next episode is gonna tackle more of these themes head on. and i think ivory is gonna COOK
living close to your friends in college is like living in a sitcom but irl 😭 cus what do you mean it's 2 am and im baking and i realized i never bought baking soda so i ask my friend and he packages it like drugs 😭 also i need to borrow a bowl from him because the only bowl i have for baking is a pot...
so called "free thinkers" (me) when they see a character with a bratty personality who actually deeply cares about me people and are super depressed but its hidden under a mask: holy shit
i feel like the emberton wire gets 1000x funnier when you realize it's getting more horrible the further we get into trump's presidency 😭 especially with the context of ivory being a trans woman living in the u.s.
